    Just picked up the mk2, and these videos have been super helpful. I have to say one thing that kind of bugs me ab the mk2 is that every pad is automatically routed to the mfx busses. Coming from the 303/404, I much preferred selecting the pads I want to effect, rather than having to select every pad I want to exclude from effects on the mk2. Is there a setting that makes pads dry by default?

  • @achook9474
    @achook9474 9 месяцев назад +1

    Question 🙋‍♂️ does the sp404mk2 have a glide/pitch glide function between pads? So that when playing a bass let’s say it slides up or down from 1 note/pad/pitch to the other note/pad/pitch? Thanks and I Subed.

    • @spvidz
      @spvidz  9 месяцев назад

      It has something called 'legato' mode in the chromatic area which makes the transitions between notes much smoother. I think thats as close as it gets to what you are explaining. Appreciate the sub 👍

    My buddy alerted me to the pad trigger customization option last week and I was completely blow away. You could have turned your fixed velocity off before you went into the options to show people everything that is possible. I had to look the area up in the manual to understand completely what each setting did, but man am I glad I got this dialed! Great vids man, keep it up!

    Yo great video! Just did the direct fx selection and the pads customisation:)Still have to bang them pretty hard thou. This is my first Sp ever and i find it actually quite intuitive coming from a maschine mk2. The 2.0 update made me get it. It seems like a great deal being a standalone device with great smartphone connectivity. I struggle with pattern building and song structure thou.. Quite the puzzle editing patterns and re-entering and togling between modes and grids.. but lucky for me I have a daw too. So it's quite cool to build, chop and record to the daw until I learn how to do it on the sp.

    • @spvidz
      @spvidz  Год назад

      Yeah it takes a bit of practice. A DAW will always win but with some practice I think you should be able to get the hang of the pattern mode. It’s useful knowledge if you’re away from the computer 👌

    On the Skip Back area, Def = Default. I do agree that the update should have made 40 seconds the new default, but I suppose that if the memory is filled enough then that could mess up things. Still, great that it’s been extended. As ever, another useful video. Many thanks, as ever…Happy New Year!

    @SPvids I’ve always watched your videos but was primarily an MPC user and the mark 2 was my first SP kinda flip flopped from what you did 😆 but I hope you had a good holiday spent with Family and friends,
    Anyway I was just thinking today that someone should really make a bottom plastic or 3D printed housing (maybe even in different colors!?) for a Lipo or some 18650s for the new SPs! I know it’s been done but not a user friendly pre fabed kit to my knowledge!? It would definitely sell well (I personally don’t get much time with double A’s… spread the word to any of your connections in the community you think maybe able to make something like that happen? I think a lot of people would like to have the option! ❤️

    I was wondering about the screen customizations whether it would be feasible to use it as a sort of notepad. Just to remember what the project is about, what other gear is used and so forth...
    Is that worth the hassle?

    • @spvidz
      @spvidz  Год назад +1

      It would be easier just to keep notes on your phone. There isn’t a way to do what your asking apart form the boot up screens and they’re only visible for a few seconds

    Great vid! I might be the only one lol but I ALWAYS stick to fixed velocity no matter what. Idk why but I just really hate the inconsistency of velocity sensitive pads. Esp for loops and kicks

  • @GrootsieTheDog

    I use the SP for textural experi-mental ambient but I still find your vids not only helpful for technical gear advice but also for musical applications 👍 got to say I've given up on the bus 3/4 😬 I find personally they just overcomplicate things far more than what they can do for my mix. What I find really unhelpful is the inability to use the bus 3/4 if you set a pad to dry. Because you usually use three and four for finishing /mastering anyway so...it would seem more practical for me if 3/4 were separate from bus 1/2 settings (1,2, or dry).

    • @GrootsieTheDog
      @GrootsieTheDog Год назад

      Eureka! Just discovered the dry routing setting! No I can use bus three and four as master effects separate from efx pad routing settings. 😊

    Forgive me if this comes up in the video, but perhaps you know… can you adjust the screen time for the effects knobs? Seems like the screen switches back to the default while I’d prefer to stay on the screen that show the effects levels. I wonder if you can adjust the “sleep-time,” so to speak?

    • @justaDude-007
      @justaDude-007 Год назад +3

      I'm not sure about adjusting the default time, but you can press remain while the mfx bus screen is active to have it constantly display the mfx settings. I think SPVidz mentioned it in another tips-and-tricks video.
