Loved your comments at the end about running the saws and not pounding full throttle. Buckin is the master of that skill. Great video!👍👍👍

Hi tinmam, first I use a piece of pop or beer can to install crank seals. Secondly for a bigger saws like 288 and bigger, you can raise up the metering valve inside the carb to allow more fuel to go into the engine. Thirdly I have had problems with tank vents time to time especially with husky and jonsereds, getting proper flow of fuel to the carb. But great job. Can't wait to see her in wood.

Hi Tinman, I have followed Harvey's recipe for heat treating pistons for a couple of years now and have had no issues with them. I have a clone MS361( heat treated piston ) that is very high strung it's ported and piped and has cut a lot of fire wood the last 2 years and still runs great. Thanks for the fuel line tip, I'm in need of some.

That’s a beauty of a saw. I recently picked up a holzfforma g660 kit and I love the thing. I got a Walbro carb off a junked ms660, as well as got all stihl recoil assembly parts. So far it’s been a ripper without any modifications besides some oem parts swapped in. Have you thought of getting one of the stihl clone kits as well? Love the content and best wishes from Idaho

Would those extra antivibe pucks and bigger rubber mounts you run work on a jonsered 625?

Awesome video! I am hoping to find out something. My uncle has a Jonsered 2071 That somehow decided to pull the wiring into the flywheel. I don't know how he managed that but it is a mess. I am going to need to get him a new air conductor I am not familiar with these saws and am hoping to find a wiring diagram for it. It has heated grips so that is why I am confused with the wiring. If anyone has a link to a diagram or some advice, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Good stuff. Curious how that turns out, fortunately of unfortunately I moved my "blue" 288 along to a friend. Maybe time to get another?

@@tinmanssaws Thinking either another 394 but to mod vs. actually use , a 272 blue saw to mod or a 288 kit. (Blue) kind of leaning to a 288 kit to build as its lighter than a 394. Thoughts?

Nice saw. Just waiting on some rubber bits for my 272xp build. It's the little bits and bolts that make building these saws slower. I wish I could find a source that has these smaller parts to complete nice builds. If anyone is aware of a source please let me know. Thanks all. TC Mahalo Tinman 🤙🤙🤙

Quick question for ya, what saw would you recommend for a new guy (my nephew) getting into silviculture who wants to go felling later? Minimum size for an east coaster? 661? Or a 372?? I have no idea but he thinks that I am all powerful in the world of felling, saws and motors! Can ya help a brother out!!
