Hello from St Lucia ... I am a newbie at growing orchids for the past six months or so. My first orchid was a dendrobium, from which I got quite a few keikis. Since then, I have accumulated a couple more dens, an oncidium, 2 phalaenopsis, a batch of epidendrum latilabra (as recent as a month ago), a lockhartia lunifera, and a few Vanda Miss Joaquim which are lashed to my mango trees. It was quite refreshing to come across your videos about growing orchids in the Caribbean, instead of those from North America. Finally, someone with a RUclips channel I can relate to!! Thank you so much. I grow my orchids in rounded pebbles (they look similar to your sponge rocks) I found in a flea market shop, with charcoal bits. I think these pebbles were from an aquarium, not sure, but I had to wash them out a lot. I have subscribed to your channel, so I can keep up with you!! Blessings ...

Hi Patricia, delighted to know that you are being inspired by my videos and learning from them as well. The solution I use consists of HP and Growphite. Growphite promotes healthy roots and also strengthens the plant's immune system.
Hi Karen, I normally use the construction gravel and only used the sponge rocks at this instance because I wanted the basket to be very light for hanging.

As seen in this video, I repot my orchids once they have outgrown their present container, meaning the new growth on the plant is growing outside of the container. I may also repot if the orchid is very potbound inside its container. So for me, there’s no schedule whenever it comes to repotting but rather observing and determining if it’s time for repotting.

I use the regular available domestic water which is chlorinated but i also ensure watering is done long before sunset so that the water is dried up off the leaves. Hi Patricia, delighted to know that you are being inspired by my videos and learning from them as well. The solution I use consists of HP and Growphite. Growphite promotes healthy roots and also strengthens the plant's immune system.

Hi Karen, I normally use the construction gravel and only used the sponge rocks at this instance because I wanted the basket to be very light for hanging.

How often should i repot my orchid?
Hi Karen, thank you so much for tuning in. As seen in this video, I repot my orchids once they have outgrown their present container, meaning the new growth on the plant is growing outside of the container. I may also repot if the orchid is very potbound inside its container. So for me, there’s no schedule whenever it comes to repotting but rather observing and determining if it’s time for repotting.

I use the regular available domestic water which is chlorinated but i also ensure watering is done long before sunset so that the water is dried up off the leaves.
