Shogun Warriors, known in Japan as Fujiyama Buster (富士山バスター, lit. "Mount Fuji Buster"), is a 1992 2D fighting arcade game developed by Atop and Kaneko and published in Japan by Sammy Corporation and published in North America and Europe by Kaneko. It was the first modern-fighting game based on ancient Japanese mythology (later popularized by SNK's Samurai Shodown and The Last Blade series), and was created during the fighting game trend of the 1990s that began with Capcom's Street Fighter II. Shogun Warriors was followed by a 1994 sequel titled Blood Warrior.

I remember this game in the arcade when i was a kid - I thought the game was terrible compared to other fighting arcade games at the time - i watch this video decades later and still think its terrible.
The "live action" version, Blood Warrior is even worse. 😩

The AI seems broken. All you have to do is a standing heavy kick after a blocked projectile/ special when they decide to advance. I could tell you knew this..but were trying not to make a boring video.

So werid this game went from a simple 16 bit fighting game similar to Street Fighter and Fatal Fury into an absurd cheesy Mortal Kombat rip-off in its sequel, Blood Warriors.

Ok i get it this game is a odd one for me as all of fighters that looks like from distance past of japan but yet they compete in the future 1993 to be exact for a prize that happens to be mazda rx-7 (FD3S) did anyone else missed the memo on keeping a close eye on style to flower in developing the game... oh well who cares about it anyway thanks lg for this video and have good day bye now.

It isn't a reference to it, in Japanese folklore they are often depicted with tiger skin loincloth.
