Thank you so much for posting these videos! Pro dog training classes are so pricey and I’ve found your channel to be the most beneficial to me and training my 5 mo old husky. 👍
👍🏽thanks gave us some ideas as we were only training with one kind of treat at a time..Our Malamute though is a counter surfer..to have so much food on the counter & him not bouncing around is a dream!
I've been using the onion chopper as well, but it wasn't working all that well with the food roll I was trying because of crumbling or with cheese because the cheese was too sticky. I'm excited to try the Happy Howies and save a lot of time!
Ya, it can be finicky with other food rolls I've noticed. It isn't perfect with the Happy Howies but that is the best I have found! I recommend a room temp Happy Howies roll - if it's too cold it is tougher to cut, and too warm, it gets sticky. Good luck, hope it saves you some time!
I still use a knife to cut cheese and I have found it’s a lot easier to cut if I pop it in the freezer for a bit first. Maybe I need an onion chopper too!
Hi Sarah! Loved the video; so many great tips! One question. You showed the wet treats (pumpkin and baby food) but I wasn't quite sure if that was to fill Kongs, etc., or how you go about using them as part of your training treats. Maybe I just missed something.
Thank you for the helpful video! The squeezy pouch tip is wonderful; I've been struggling with freezing fingers during walks and it sounds like a great solution!
Hi Sarah! Fellow dog trainer here. Thanks for all the ideas. I have so much trouble because my dogs don’t work for kibble, unless I dress it up and soften it. I need to try the pouches!
How do you wash your onion chopper? I've used it before, but it is such a pain to wash and it's almost not worth it. Another treat idea is to make your own homemade ones. I make mine with plain canned tuna, an egg, and oats. I feel really good about feeding this and it's a super high value treat!
Okay, I know this video is old, but any favorite places to the get Happy Howie's roll in NoCo? Your videos tipped me off to them, and they're my dog's #1 fav treat, but I've had a hard time finding them lately, and would love to not have to lean on Amazon to get them!
Honestly the best place is directly off of their website: www.happyhowies.com/product-category/premium-meat-rolls/ - especially since they are a small business, this really helps them out if you order directly from them!
I keep a spreadsheet with all the training treats we've ever tried and how hard my dog will work for them, if she has any bad reactions to them, if they're easy to break, etc. My dog needs a lot of variety in her treats so we often try new things! I figured you'd appreciate this fact. 😂
OH MY GOSH I LOVE THIS! I used to have a spreadsheet like this too when I first got Wrigley and it really comes in handy! Well done and thank you for sharing, seriously made me smile!
I keep my treat logs in the fridge, and of course any "people food". The rest I store in air-tight containers just on a shelf! The treat logs will get moldy if you leave them out.
Hi - great treats tip, but can you tell me what Kibble you use? I noticed yours looks nice and small, much better than any meal/kibbles I have found. thanks
Hey! I am in the process of switching over to a new food right now, but not because I don't like the current one. The one in this video that you see is Nature's Logic - while I was using it, I was very happy with it!
I could use some serious help with training as I am about ready to give up on them. We have 2 labs males siblings and trying to teach them is hard one thinks he is alfa and runs the other, so other will not listen unless alone . Any videos and tips you have on this I am open to watch and hopefully succeed at teaching these two almost 1year old males oh yeah and raising a 3 soo. To be 4 year old who makes this process even more difficult lol
I would highly recommend looking for a professional trainer in your area for in person help with your two dogs! It is helpful with having a multi-dog household to work on training with each individual dog first so they have their own solo times to learn. Start with my clicker training video and take things slow, all dogs learn at different paces. You are looking for small changes day to day, they will not be drastic differences overnight.
Hi. Sir to bother you.. You kindly replied to my video comment a few weeks ago that you had been using natures logic dog food (I had asked u for the name because on your video I noticed the biscuits were nice and small to use for training rewards). However, I can not buy it in the uk and so I wondered what food u are using now, and are the individual buiscuits small- comparable to the natures logic one? Thanks for any small food buiscuits advice?
I have switched over to Honest Kitchen. The kibble bits aren't as small as Nature's Logic but still work fine for me. I am just more careful about portions throughout the day.
I would watch videos like this one after another non stop :D I just like to see what people use for treats :)
Same!! Glad you enjoyed it!
This is so helpful thank you!!!
All the food, treat, and frozen kong stuff nobody told me about when getting a dog!!
Haha yes! There’s so much to think about with it all, but allows for lots of creativity!
Oh my gosh the onion chopper trick is about to save me so much time. My dog LOVES happy howie's!
Love it! Room temp happy howies through the onion chopper work the best!

Thank you!

Management and lots of reinforcement for staying on the ground is what I recommend!

Great video Sarah! I am looking for some treats for my pup and this gave me a whole bunch of new things to try out! Thanks again. Stay safe.
Thank you, Jan! I hope some of them work out for you and your pup!

Hey Nadine! Ah, yes I used those to stuff kongs with 😊
Thank you for the helpful video! The squeezy pouch tip is wonderful; I've been struggling with freezing fingers during walks and it sounds like a great solution!
Absolutely! Thank you for watching, Allie. Definitely a handy thing to have in the cold.
This was great. I'm going to try making my own treats using the rolls now. I never knew that was an option, very cool!
Awesome! I hope it goes well for you!

Yes, try the pouches! I love them!
This is so helpful to have! Thank you so much!
Thank you for watching, Meredith!
Such a nice cutting board!
Thank you for the ideas. Great content 😀

This one actually came with tools that make cleaning it a breeze! Highly agree with that homemade treat idea! Tuna fudge!
Great video and very helpful.
Thank you! Glad you found it useful.

What is the best way to store store bought treats? Do you keep in the bag? Fridge? Any experience with mold?
