I saw them at the Hollywood Bowl last year, and again six days ago (both times with my 80+ year old landlord - in a wheelchair - who had never heard of them before I forced her to watch "Hallelujah" about a month before the first concert), so it's never too late to become a Pentaholic!
Oh, you should do a series of the competition shows, it's really amazing to realize the trio met right before the audition, and when they made it, they went down to Texas, the new guys stayed with Scotts family and they invented themselves in however little time between then and the competition. Were still inventing themselves through the competition!
Only one member change. Avi left and Matt replaced him. The others are all the original members. Scott, (Baritone with crazy range). Kirstin, Mitch, Kevin (beatboxer, singer, cellist extraordinaire) and Matt (bass). This is my favorite version if The Prayer. I became Pentatonix fan on The Sing Off. I can’t remember for sure, but I’m thinking Sara Bareilles (sp) (not sure if her name) and Jewel were the female judges. People can correct me if I’m wrong.

It was Shawn Stockman, Sara Bareilles, and Ben Folds as judges on their season :D Shawn is the original Pentaholic! They were the winners of Season 3.

This has got to be their best performance yet! Such a beautiful song to begin with and they just took it to a whole new level! Amazing! 🥰
THIS is what is crazy about PTX. Every song/medley I hear from them, I think they couldn't possibly top it ... and then they DO!!! Another amazing thing is that each of their individual voices is world class and u can hear their individual talent. But when their voices blend - dammmmnnnn!! It is completely seamless. There is no spotlight hugging. It doesn't seem as though there is anybody trying to push to stand out above anyone.
It's the PTX Wall of Sound !!! I agree about doing "Over the River" w/Lindsey Stirling on violin and Kevin on cello and percussion. Only PTX could take a children's nursery rhyme and turn it into a masterpiece.

Since you watched the SingOff, you may remember that Shawn Stockman was the original Pentaholic, and here's a nice shout-back. Boyz II Men recently performed a Chris Stapleton song (at Stapleton's request) on a CMT special where Stapleton was being honored as an Artist of the Year, and Kevin (the PTX beatboxer) cello boxed with them. My brain just gave up when I watched that one. Like they took this little kids tune and wrote a freaking Broadway production of it. And just... What???? And it's INCREDIBLE!

@@jerolddavis They represent the elements: Scott is water, Kirstie is fire (no kidding), Mitch is air, Kevin is earth; some say Matt is earth too, but others have said wood/trees. And Lindsey is represents magic. So that, plus the Celtic vibe of the composition, made me think pagan.

They just did a Christmas special on BYUtv called Christmas Under the Stars that was phenomenal. You can pick any song from that and be wowed, but their cover of My Heart With You is simply breathtaking.
I just saw them in concert Thursday night.....they sound just as incredible live.... pure talent!!

Season 3 of the Sing Off. They won 2011. Have definitely grown in 10 years as is only to be expected. Mitch had to miss his high school graduation to be on the show. Scott and Kirstin were college freshmen.

Yep they were on season 3 of the Sing-off in 2011. Home Free was on the Sing-off in season 4. The female judge on the sing-off was Sara Bareilles with Ben Folds and Sean Stockman while the host was Nick Lachey.
Pentatonix was dropped a week later after winning in 2011, so any kind of success rested totally on their shoulders at that point. Social media became the avenue they used to reach out and make a market for themselves and allowed them to show the world their talent.
So Amazing!! My late husband loved listening to this group. He was old school Rock N Roll, but Pentatonix drew him in.
I've listened to this song..I can't even count how many times..and it blows me away every single time..I think its the best they have done so far..and I love just about all of their material..Mitch is one of the most talented counter tenors I've ever heard..melts me every time..He was spectacular in this song..really show cased his amazing natural talent..LOVE THIS ACAPELLA GROUP..THEY ARE # 1..in my book..

They are amazing. I love listening to them. Each one is unique in their own special way and together they are fantastic. They touch your heart with a song like this and remind you of our God and His love and mercy. I love listening to them.

They won the sing off. They recorded 200 thousand and a record contract. A week after they moved to LA the company dropped them. They took the money and started making youtube videos. The rest is history.
It would be cool if you did reactions to their sing off journey. See them so young and nervous about making it through the competition. One of them they talk about perfecting 2 songs into one. Funny because, they have done quite a few evolution of videos. Most have over 10 songs condensed into like 4 to 6 minutes. They are simply amazing and magic together.

I'm sure someone has said they won Season 3 of The Sing Off (Home Free won season 4) in 2011. You can actually find their old performances on it and I see a lot of people reacting to it. React to #12, Dog Days Are OVer, it's amazing!

Tom that’s the song Marcelito Pomoy did by himself . He sounded better than Mitch to me. The point I’m making is it took 5 people to do a song that 1 person did alone incredibly.
