Honestly, I feel like the jealousy stems from the level of success that CC has already achieved and the popularity/attention she's garnered, as a rookie, more than anything. CC has already made far more money than Swoopes has made in her entire career. And more money/popularity than other current players in the league. And that makes them bitter about that.
I feel that if a lot of players were in a similar position as her, all these women would've been complimenting her.
She's not jealous of the talent. Swoops is an all-time great. They're jealous because the WNBA has never made a profit and only exist because the men subsidize it. Clark is gonna change how the WNBA is seen, their attendance, their ratings, their bargaining power, and their salaries. She's gonna basically make an irrelevant sport relevant when none of the women before her ever could. That's the reason why they hate her.

Clark played 4 years (like Kelsey Plum) of college, no redshirt year and she decided to forgo the extra Covid year as she had accomplished all she could at that level. Clark is 22, not 25. Swoopes shot from the hip and did not do her research.
The only asterick Clark deserves in the college record book is comparing her career points total to Pete Maravich, who set the men's college scoring record in only 3 seasons. Freshmen were not eligible when he played at LSU.
