And if you get bored in cruise between fuel and ALTN checks, you can click the button on the PMDG pens over and over. So nice of them to model those for us.
Thank you very much! To answer your question: The most common reasons for requests not coming through is if you have no inserted all uplinks on your FMC yet. Check the FMC COMM page to ensure any available uplink is indeed inserted. I've also seen some users who did not connect with the hoppie system yet and were therefore not able to receive weather.
Thank you for all your incredibly informative videos! If the conditions permit (including optimum and maximum levels being taken into consideration), do pilots tend to initiate step climbs before the planned step climb waypoint in the flight plan, in order to reduce fuel burn? Thanks
Hi first of all, thanks for this amazing series, couldn’t have asked for more. With the auto cruise now I have started doing long haul flights but Iam always running out of fuel, started to put an ad hoc amount extra than the sim brief, but for some reason my ETA fuel keeps going down with my flight progressing.
Hi, once I'm finished writing it I'll post an announcement and will update all the video descriptions. You'll hear about it, once it's released, no worries :)
As usual, all the playlist is very interesting ! is it just me or the the playlist is in a strange order ? would be nice to have on top, down to latest video.
Your tutorials are awesome, can’t thank you enough! Where can I learn about step climbs, is it covered in climb tutorial? Need to understand it better.
@@A330Driver yes, you did and I am looking for a broader understanding on the topic and any pointers will be helpful. It was comparatively simpler on the Airbus. ☺
How do pilots perform step climbs? Do they use v/s or FLCH? IN Boeing 737 when I start scrolling the altitude button the number is visible in FMC for example FL370 and I "prepare" 39000 in the altitude window and fmc now says 39000 I can simply click the L1 FMC key and it will replace the FL370 with FL390 and aircraft starts the climb automatically. So there are 3 ways to do that. Which is the correct/best one?
Just curious, I thought flight levels were even in one direction, and odd in the other. So is it valid to do step climbs in 1000 feet increments? Why wouldn’t they be in 2000 feet increments to maintain odd/evenness?
Hi, over the Atlantic you can request any level since traffic flow is usually determined based on the time of the day and most traffic flows into the same direction. When the vast majority of traffic flows into the same direction, why not make the most economic use of all available flight levels?
Was flying the 77W from EHAM to CYYC earlier. Just after Greenland I got a SATCOM and DATALINK LOST. Accoriding to the non standard checklist it was just temporary. Eventually the message went away, but I noticed I lost my RNP/ANP indicator and the white LNAV/VNAV indicators nest to AP. The navigation still went well and I landed safely. Is there anything to do after a SATCOM DATALINK LOST error?
Great video again Emanuel! Quick question though, let’s say you are flying oceanic and want/need to step climb, but since you don’t have ATC coverage, how would you initiate/ request that?
I’m really enjoying these videos and are my reference during my delivery flight KPAE-OMDB. THANK YOU! small question. Is stab trim 4.50 normal during cruise with 23% fuel at FL390?
Great video as always, but I'm having an issue with the flight information uplink where I don't recieve any messages whether it was ATIS or TWIP request is this a known issue or it's just me?
That's a company option. CRZ is no "real" limit though, it's a maintenance limit to protect the engines - but there have been accidents in the past because full thrust was not available.
Landed cancun fine just now 😊. will check my effort against the landing tutorial when it gets posted. Thx for all your efforts. I need get used to the PROG page. I have a few questions im too used to Airbus. Theres no way to enter a WPT in the PROG page?. You can see current/next/destination only?
Thanks for these tutorials, waiting for your next and I would like to see an ILS Autoland tutorial ( even if I think you will not use Autoland at the end of these tutorials 😶🌫 )

lol
I got a good laugh out of what ETOPS stands for 😂. I’m an FA, made my day! Thanks for the great tutorials!
You're welcome! Enjoy your next trip and, hopefully, good layover!
I'm so happy I came across with this channel! There is so much additional information which is ultimately worth it. Thank you for the job!
I also have a question. What if wxr requests don't uplink? I've sent so many requests so PMDG servers should explode😂

@@A330Driver so, I'm the one who was not connected to the hoppie system XD. Now everything works. Thanks!

made my day Emanuel!
Danke für die tollen Tutorials und lg aus LOWW

Many thanks for your time and effort on this series. I learnt lots of details from them
Thank you!

I wouldn’t think so unless of upcoming turbulence and or weather.
It’s really about engine performance.

I would like to see some example of flight diversion based on your 777 cruise tutorial. Thnks
That's planned for a future video!
Informative 👍

I think I covered it partially in the climb and the cruise tutorial, didn't I? Been a while since I recorded these.
@@A330Driver yes, you did and I am looking for a broader understanding on the topic and any pointers will be helpful. It was comparatively simpler on the Airbus. ☺
At 1:48 what is the FMC notification “ALTN LIST UPLINK”?
That is alternate airports being updated every once in a while to where you can choose to divert to if needed

Hi, see my 737 cruise tutorial for details.
In short: Use VNAV and SPD INTV.
I know you pilots can't wear polarized sunglasses in the cockpit so I've always wondered if the sunshades are polarized?
I never saw any of the characteristic effects of a polarized sunglass when I looked through a sunshade, so I guess the answer is no.

Of course you have atc coverage over the Atlantic ;-)

I really never watched the trim during curise - I'll pay attention on my next flight!
The WX request is Not working for me
could you please to do a video about auto step climb? Thanks very much😊

The FIX page is probably what comes closest to what you're looking for. Indeed, Boeing FMCs are quite different than Airbus ones.
Unfortunately Twip Request doesn't work by me. Send button is blue instead of white

Yes - but for now it's 777 time!
