One thing I think really goes over peoples heads is the time factor. Time as a construct that humans are bound to. God is not bound to the construct of time. He exists outside of it, therefore he is not bound by the rules of time. Humans have difficulty thinking of anything that is unaffected by time. This applies to God’s eternal existence, his omnipresence, his omniscience; it applies to the issue of his Sovereignty and the apparent “free will” of man; and it also applies to the Triune nature of the Essence that is God. He doesn’t exist by the rules of time, space, and matter which govern the singular-existence-state of creation. Another interesting thing people get hung up on is that the word “God” is used as a synonym for the Father, therefore when we say, “Jesus is God,” guess what they hear? Y’all addressed that God is the Nature, and the three persons are Father, Son, and Spirit, but it still just goes right over people’s heads. I think it's one of those things no one can fully understand! At least, in this life. I can't wait until we meet Him and we do. Or... at least we will have better understanding than we do now. We will be exploring the wonders of our incredible God for all eternity. I cannot wait!

Because the trinity didn’t exist for 384 years after the ascension of Christ and His apostles died. The early fathers have writings about the true nature of god that show they did not believe in the trinity… that is why a council of Nicene came to be where hundreds of men, theologians philosophers debated the nature of God, and then voted on it. The creeds are added “scripture”. To be a Catholic or Protestant you have to swear to the trinity creed. Which is not biblical. I’m glad you love Christ. I do too! What about a belief that God and Jesus are Di-une and the Holy Spirit is an extension of God, not a separate person, or thing but the spirit is the will of God acting on the people. I’ve heard good arguments supporting this. I’m studying this right now trying to come to a conclusion on the Holy Trinity.

For anyone watching this, there are actual, real, solid biblical answers to everything Jeff brought up here showing how his reading of the verses is not what the Bible means by it. Unfortunately, he went through so many that it's time-prohibitive for the average person to write out comments explaining each one. I just encourage everyone watching to go to the Bible and see what it actually says in context, and in surrounding verses, and what it refers to. Think about your assumptions as you read it and then dig for answers to your assumptions. For example, when the Jews say things to Jesus......is what they say correct? The murderous, hate-filled Jewish religious leaders who were looking for any reason to kill Jesus....do we want to get our theology from them? Or do we want to get our theology from the God-glorifying crowd praising what Jesus did? Or for example, when Jesus did various things that "only God could do".....does the Bible tell us that He did them "because He was God"? Or does it tell us that He did them "because He spoke what the Father taught Him", because He "did nothing of Himself" (John 8:28)" and because He was empowered BY GOD to do them? Or for example, as Jeff hammers home that the Holy Spirit is referred to as "He".....look at the verses and at the Greek to see what the "he" pronoun refers to. If it's referring to advocate (parakletos), well.....that's a masculine noun in the Greek, and so Greek will use a masculine referring pronoun. Just like if it was talking about an inanimate object in Greek that was a masculine noun, it would use the same masculine pronoun. This doesn't mean the inanimate object is a "he", though. We know in English to use "it". But for translators who have a Trinitarian bias, they will put "he" even when "it" is more warranted. Just more food for thought. God bless.

Just because an Old Testament verse is applied to a New Testament entity does not mean they are the same being. That is not a teaching of the Bible. Otherwise we would have some pretty weird additional claims being made about OTHER people in the OT who are also apparently God by the same rule, e.g. the verse in Hebrews that says "your throne, O God, is forever and ever" is originally about a human psalmic king in the OT, not about the Most High God. Jesus Himself tells the Jews in John 8:54 that their God (i.e. the God of the Old Testament, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob) is *the Father.* It's not Himself and it's not a Trinity: John 8:54 Jesus answered [the Jews], “If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is *my Father who glorifies me, of whom you say, ‘He is our God.’*

God is not a liar; the heresy of the Trinity is a heresy. In the Hebrew Bible and Christian Bible, there is only one God. Isaiah 43:10: " I am the first, and I am the last, and beside me, there is no God" is not one of many Gods. People add to God's word, but this verse shows no separate Person or God in the Godhead. Tri, and unity. We see that The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are in unity with each other, but we also see that they are distinct. Distinct in being? No, for that would be tritheism. Distinct in modes/forms? No, for that would be modalism. Also there is but one God so tritheism fails the rest as well.

We cannot say that we are to be one in BEING with God Himself. The Bible never teaches this. So the Father and Son must be one in some other way. When Jesus says He and the Father are one in John 10:30, the context is in neither He nor the Father letting the sheep out of either of their hands. That is the manner in which they are one. Not in essence. Not in being. But in not letting the sheep out of each of their grasps.

Regarding Hebrews 1, yes, Jesus is the exact representation of God’s nature. He perfectly reflects to us who God is. But the Bible doesn’t say He does this because He is also God Himself. The Bible tells us how He does this - by doing whatever He sees the Father doing, and saying whatever He hears the Father saying. Jesus says His words are not His own. He perfectly reflects the Father to us by submitting Himself entirely to the Father’s will. Of course Jesus will perfectly represent the Father to us if He lives this way. It’s not an implication of sameness of “essence” though. The Bible doesn’t thinly slice things like “what kind of nature does Jesus have”? It’s unconcerned with those kind of questions. The Bible doesn’t say the Son “took on a human nature”. Rather, it says He “took on flesh and blood”. It is very specific with those words. I am not an Arian. I don’t know what Arians believe. I think labels like that only serve to divide at this point in history. You and I are both just believers trying to figure out the Word of God as best as we can. At this point, after looking into it a while, I believe Jesus is the light spoken into existence in Genesis 1:3. The same light mentioned in John 1:4. So in that sense I do think He is a created being. But “non-divine”? It depends on what you mean by “divine”. I think Jesus was the first thing spoken into existence, and He is what 1 Corinthians 15 calls “a heavenly man” (when it contrasts the first Adam with the last Adam….earthly man with heavenly man). This heavenly man took on flesh and blood to be like us earthly men in every way.

The problem for the speaker, is that when Isaiah spoke those words and penned them, he did not use a substitute for God's name such as "Lord" or "God", Isaiah (to use the English name) would have said "Jehovah"; so right from the start the speaker has a problem!
First of all it wouldn’t be Jehovah. The word Jehovah is a latinized word made in the made in the Middle Ages. So Lord is appropriate. The Jews didn’t pronounce the name of God because they didn’t want to take use it in a worthless way. The Bible in the Old Testament only, has the Tetragrammaton, YHWH. In Hebrew it is only made of consonants and no vows so we do not know the correct spelling or pronunciation of the divine Name. They took the vows from Adonai and Elohim inserted them and we get Yahweh. That means I AM. One of the Names of God. Jesus Christ says to call God Father and we refer to Christ as Lord. I love the passion that Jeff Durbin has for the Bible and Christianity, however a lot of the things he teaches are not biblically correct. Reformed Christianity is borderline blasphemy and Trinitarianism is not accurate on any level to what Jesus Christ taught in the New Testament. Trinitarianism is a false belief that was essentially created by Constantine who was very corrupt. The Nicene Council was a meeting held in an attempt to save Christian beliefs from Arianism in that era by simplifying yet changing core doctrines. The Trinity was the result of that meeting yet it has no accuracy to what the Bible actually teaches. Trinitarianism is NOT Christianity. The actual definition of Christianity is a religion that follows the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth, not the Trinity. Christians who claim that a belief in the Trinity is a prerequisite to being Christian are so far from the teachings of the Bible.

One thing I think really goes over peoples heads is the time factor. Time as a construct that humans are bound to.
God is not bound to the construct of time. He exists outside of it, therefore he is not bound by the rules of time.
Humans have difficulty thinking of anything that is unaffected by time. This applies to God’s eternal existence, his omnipresence, his omniscience; it applies to the issue of his Sovereignty and the apparent “free will” of man;

Did you know that the early Fathers of the church and the saints did not believe in the trinity?
Why?? Because the trinity didn’t exist for 384 years after the ascension of Christ and His apostles died.
The early fathers have writings about the true nature of god that show they did not believe in the trinity… that is why a council of Nicene came to be where hundreds of men, theologians philosophers debated the nature of God, and then voted on it.

For anyone watching this, there are actual, real, solid biblical answers to everything Jeff brought up here showing how his reading of the verses is not what the Bible means by it. Unfortunately, he went through so many that it's time-prohibitive for the average person to write out comments explaining each one. I just encourage everyone watching to go to the Bible and see what it actually says in context, and in surrounding verses, and what it refers to. Think about your assumptions as you read it and then dig for answers to your assumptions.
For example, when the Jews say things to Jesus......is what they say correct? The murderous, hate-filled Jewish religious leaders who were looking for any reason to kill Jesus....do we want to get our theology from them? Or do we want to get our theology from the God-glorifying crowd praising what Jesus did? Or for example, when Jesus did various things that "only God could do".....does the Bible tell us that He did them "because He was God"? Or does it tell us that He did them "because He spoke what the Father taught Him", because He "did nothing of Himself" (John 8:28)" and because He was empowered BY GOD to do them?
Or for example, as Jeff hammers home that the Holy Spirit is referred to as "He".....look at the verses and at the Greek to see what the "he" pronoun refers to. If it's referring to advocate (parakletos), well.....that's a masculine noun in the Greek, and so Greek will use a masculine referring pronoun. Just like if it was talking about an inanimate object in Greek that was a masculine noun, it would use the same masculine pronoun. This doesn't mean the inanimate object is a "he", though. We know in English to use "it". But for translators who have a Trinitarian bias, they will put "he" even when "it" is more warranted. Just more food for thought.

Just because an Old Testament verse is applied to a New Testament entity does not mean they are the same being. That is not a teaching of the Bible. Otherwise we would have some pretty weird additional claims being made about OTHER people in the OT who are also apparently God by the same rule, e.g. the verse in Hebrews that says "your throne, O God, is forever and ever" is originally about a human psalmic king in the OT, not about the Most High God.
Jesus Himself tells the Jews in John 8:54 that their God (i.e. the God of the Old Testament, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob) is *the Father.* It's not Himself and it's not a Trinity:

Tri, and unity. We see that The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are in unity with each other, but we also see that they are distinct. Distinct in being? No, for that would be tritheism. Distinct in modes/forms? No, for that would be modalism. Both tritheism and modalism are deadly deadly heresies, because Jesus is not the Father, the Holy Spirit is not Jesus, and the Father is not the Holy Spirit. Also there is but one God so tritheism fails the rest as well.

When Jesus says He and the Father are one in John 10:30, the context is in neither He nor the Father letting the sheep out of either of their hands. That is the manner in which they are one. Not in essence. Not in being. But in not letting the sheep out of each of their grasps.

Regarding Hebrews 1, yes, Jesus is the exact representation of God’s nature. He perfectly reflects to us who God is. But the Bible doesn’t say He does this because He is also God Himself. The Bible tells us how He does this - by doing whatever He sees the Father doing, and saying whatever He hears the Father saying. Jesus says His words are not His own. He perfectly reflects the Father to us by submitting Himself entirely to the Father’s will. Of course Jesus will perfectly represent the Father to us if He lives this way. It’s not an implication of sameness of “essence” though.
The Bible doesn’t thinly slice things like “what kind of nature does Jesus have”? It’s unconcerned with those kind of questions. It is concerned with who Jesus is, definitely, but Christians get very wrapped up in things like “natures” and “essences” when the Bible gives very little value to that stuff. The Bible doesn’t say the Son “took on a human nature”. Rather, it says He “took on flesh and blood”. It is very specific with those words.
I am not an Arian. I don’t know what Arians believe. I think labels like that only serve to divide at this point in history. You and I are both just believers trying to figure out the Word of God as best as we can. At this point, after looking into it a while, I believe Jesus is the light spoken into existence in Genesis 1:3. The same light mentioned in John 1:4. So in that sense I do think He is a created being. But “non-divine”? It depends on what you mean by “divine”. I think Jesus was the first thing spoken into existence, and He is what 1 Corinthians 15 calls “a heavenly man” (when it contrasts the first Adam with the last Adam….earthly man with heavenly man). This heavenly man took on flesh and blood to be like us earthly men in every way.

The Bible mentions the Godhead three times. No where in the Bible is the word trinity. Unless pastor jeff is using the wrong word, he should do more research. Just saying.

The following and the understanding of all of Gods word the Bible that is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, that the Holy Spirit teaches only to the very few who are Gods chosen ones is what Gods chosen ones are commanded to observe, hold to, follow, and to be baptized (immersed) into. I love the passion that Jeff Durbin has for the Bible and Christianity, however a lot of the things he teaches are not biblically correct. Reformed Christianity is borderline blasphemy and Trinitarianism is not accurate on any level to what Jesus Christ taught in the New Testament. Trinitarianism is a false belief that was essentially created by Constantine who was very corrupt. The Nicene Council was a meeting held in an attempt to save Christian beliefs from Arianism in that era by simplifying yet changing core doctrines. The Trinity was the result of that meeting yet it has no accuracy to what the Bible actually teaches. Trinitarianism is NOT Christianity. The actual definition of Christianity is a religion that follows the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth, not the Trinity. Christians who claim that a belief in the Trinity is a prerequisite to being Christian are so far from the teachings of the Bible.

You cannot be saved if you don’t believe Jesus is God. That is the trinity in a nutshell. If you believe Jesus is not God then you my friend might be in some serious trouble.

I don’t believe in the trinity (and creeds)that were voted on by philosophers and theologians not prophets.
I realize there are scriptures in the Bible that might allude to some funky form of a trinity if you read the passages with out full context in the Bible.
But the early saints did not believe in the Trinity, that is why Constantine ordered a group of men To argue out the nature of God and create the creeds.

He is the Beloved Son of God.
He is fully God, and created the earth and all things on the earth under the direction of His Father.
He is the Savior and Redeemer of this world and He is the only way back to God the Father of our spirits.
