It’s crazy that after essentially 30 years of being a Christian, I am only now learning and accepting these Biblical truths!! Praise God! Now that I encounter the Bible with fresh eyes and ears, these verses seem SOOO obvious and indisputable! How can anyone argue against them?!? I still struggle with the issue of people being damned to Hell before birth...but Romans 9:10 directly slams us for even daring to question God’s decisions. Hard but beautiful truths

I am the only Calvinist in our family. My father is the pastor of our Church. Our church is a pentecostal church that leans heavily on the prophetic. Even though our statement of faith doesn’t really state that our soteriology leans in either Arminianism or Calvinism but I have been in debates with my dad because of this thing called “free will”. Please pray for me.

I find myself being a Calvinist in a church where if it's mentioned, they look disgusted. Even the pastor himself. I listened to the way he preached Ephesians 1 and he completely dodged predestination. I was floored because of the impact Apologia had opened my eyes to this. I grew up Mormon and left the church at age 25 (almost 5 years ago). I went atheist until January 2023. I read the Case for Christ because my girlfriend was a Christian (spoiler: she's now my wife) and I was "convinced". I called myself a Christian from that point, but I didn't really "feel" it. The evidence seemed to favor the fact that Jesus existed, but I was still spiritually dead. It wasn't until about a month ago that I got the call. I started studying grace and learned that even faith was not my own doing, but God's.
It was like a revelation. My desires have been changing. I still sin, but I am very much convicted when I do. I want to share God's grace and call people to Jesus. The scriptures make sense. It's a truly humbling experience to know that this dead man is alive again with no reason other than that God willed it so.

Tonya Comeaux, What text is he referring to? If he is saying that every single person was chosen for salvation, then no, that is not exegetically defensible. Consider Ephesians 1:4
"just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him."
In the original language, the direct object of the verb ἐξελέξατο (He chose) is ἡμᾶς (us). We are the direct object of God's choosing. Is "us" every single person who has ever lived? No, contextually, He is referring to the elect. God's elect were chosen as a group and as individuals before the creation of the world. Not every single person who has ever lived. I hope this helps Tonya.

And when God said it’s not good for the man to be alone the Hebrew word that is used for the woman can be translated as military ally. Interesting subject on predestination and election. It’s too bad of the hostility on both sides of the subject. We (humans)are limited to just 4 dimensions at this time , and I think we won’t fully understand this until we are released from these 4 dimensions. *JESUS is COMING SOON!*
Around a year ago I was out riding my bike along a spot that I'm not too familiar with. I felt that "not home" feeling and didn't like it; I started to tell myself *"Well, Jesus is..."* and before I could finish it, my head turns to the right and sees a big sign in the grass: *"COMING SOON!"* - Quickly I burst into laughter at the timing of this. It was *seamless.* So I went home and called my mother on the phone and told her about it. She quickly said to me: *"That's confirmation!"* - As *soon as she said that,* the memory was brought to my conscious mind that I prayed *two days before* asking the Lord if He really told my mother: *"Soon, child, soon."*

Romans 8:29-30 tells us, “For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.” Ephesians 1:5 and 11 declare, “He predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will…In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will.” Many people have a strong hostility to the doctrine of predestination. However, predestination is a biblical doctrine. The key is understanding what predestination means, biblically.
The words translated “predestined” in the Scriptures referenced above are from the Greek word proorizo, which carries the meaning of “determining beforehand,” “ordaining,” “deciding ahead of time.” So, predestination is God determining certain things to occur ahead of time. What did God determine ahead of time? According to Romans 8:29-30, God predetermined that certain individuals would be conformed to the likeness of His Son, be called, justified, and glorified. Numerous scriptures refer to believers in Christ being chosen (Matthew 24:22, 31; Mark 13:20, 27; Romans 8:33, 9:11, 11:5-7, 28; Ephesians 1:11; Colossians 3:12; 1 Thessalonians 1:4; 1 Timothy 5:21; 2 Timothy 2:10; Titus 1:1; 1 Peter 1:1-2, 2:9; 2 Peter 1:10). Predestination is the biblical doctrine that God in His sovereignty chooses certain individuals to be saved.
Predestination is an explicitly biblical doctrine. Yet the determination of predestination is not disconnected from the rest of God’s unchanging character (Malachi 3:6). It is connected to His foreknowledge (Romans 8:29, 11:2), His love (Ephesians 1:4-5), and His plan and pleasure (Ephesians 1:5). God’s desire is that all would be saved and come to repentance (1 Timothy 2:4, 2 Peter 3:9). Predestination is personal and relational, not capricious.
The most common objection to the doctrine of predestination is that it is unfair. Why would God choose certain individuals and not others? We must remember that no one deserves to be saved. We have all sinned (Romans 3:23) and are all worthy of eternal punishment (Romans 6:23). As a result, God would be perfectly just in allowing all of us to spend eternity in hell. However, God chooses to save some of us. He is not being unfair to those who are not chosen, because they are receiving what they deserve. God’s choosing to be gracious to some is not unfair to the others. No one deserves anything from God; therefore, no one can object if he does not receive anything from God. An illustration would be a man randomly handing out money to five people in a crowd of twenty. Would the fifteen people who did not receive money be upset? Probably so. Do they have a right to be upset? No, they do not. Why? Because the man did not owe anyone money. He simply decided to be gracious to some.
If God is choosing who is saved, doesn’t that undermine our free will to choose and believe in Christ? The Bible says that we have the choice-all who believe in Jesus Christ will be saved (John 3:16; Romans 10:9-10). The Bible never describes God rejecting anyone who believes in Him or turning away anyone who is seeking Him (Deuteronomy 4:29). The truths of God’s sovereign predestination and also man’s responsibility are not mutually exclusive. Somehow, in the mystery of God, predestination works hand-in-hand with a person being drawn by God (John 6:44) and believing unto salvation (Romans 1:16). God predestines who will be saved, and we must choose Christ in order to be saved. Both facts are equally true. Romans 11:33 proclaims, “Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out!”

I think this pastor's love for God and His grace is good. We must all repent and be conformed to the Truth. Agreed. There are some major problems and errors in this presentation. The Catholic Church has condemned both Pelagianism and "semi-Pelagianism." Regarding quoting the Fathers, there was a break in the comparison he made. Pastor Durbin said that Catholics would quote the fathers, fallible men, but implied he was reading the Scripture. We are all reading Scripture though. The Fathers were reading Scripture too (quite well, I might add). Do I believe what Chrysostom, Augustine, and Irenaeus taught from the Scripture or what Pastor Durbin teaches? The reason Catholics quote the Fathers (or should be quoting them!) is because some "prooftext" from the fathers to bolster their novel doctrines. Proof-texting does not consider the mind of the Fathers and Church led by the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth. For example, the pastor likes Athanasius as a defender of the Trinity and the deity of Christ. Amen. However, Athanasius was a bishop who swung incense, asked Mary for intercession, used his episcopal authority to delimit the canon, took part in an ecumenical council that had canons and dogmatic authority, etc. Did Athanasius know the Scriptures inside and out with the love of the Holy Trinity but err on every other doctrine and practice? Back to John 6, does this take into account how Jesus defines "those whom you have given me" (John 17:2, 6, 10-12)? Have any been lost according to Jesus (17:12)? Also, abiding in Christ is necessary to be raised on the last day (John 15:1-6). Speaking of Ephesians 2:5-10, God absolutely makes us alive in Christ by His free grace. He alone saves! He saves us by grace through faith. It does not say that God saves us (regeneration) and then we believe. We are saved through faith. A lot more to say, but that is a start.

Be honest, tell me which of the following 3 statements actually portrays love... Then have the common sense to connect those attributes to God who IS love...
      1. A man tries to impress a woman he cares about, then kidnaps the woman and forces her to be his wife if she rejects him.
      (Is that love?)
      2. An engaged married couple plan to have over 10 children after they get married (They plan to adopt kids as well to have as many kids as possible). They also have the following plan... To lock up several of their children in the basement for the rest of their lives when they reach the age of 18 years old. This has nothing to do with anything the children say or do during their lifetime... It is preplanned that all odd numbered children in the order of their birth will be locked up at 18 years old... no matter what... with no hope at all.
      (Is that love?)
      3. Someone of great wealth throws a banquet. He not only invites people he knows, but he sends his messengers to invite everyone they come across in society... especially the people of society that are disadvantaged. Anyone who responds to the invitation in an appropriate way is accepted and showered with grace and reward.
      (Is that love?)
      This should be so obvious.

The whole Calvanism vs. Arminism conflict reminds me of the tension between God's Love/Forgiveness vs. His Justice/Judgment statements in the Old Testament.
Of coarse God solved the apparent dilemma with Jesus taking on human flesh, living the perfect sinless life that we all fail to live, willingly dying on the cross to atone for the sin of the world, and defeating death by resurrection 3 days later.
In a similar way, this tired Calvanism vs Arminism debate can easily be resolved...
It's called Christian Molinism, look it up.
Don't believe in Arminism, that clearly ignores God's sovereignty, foreknowledge, and the bible verses about God knowing the end from the beginning.
And don't dare be a Calvinist. God is not some morbid tyrant, who planned to build a bunch of biological robots that would go defective, and pre-planned to fix some in the future while throwing the rest in the fire for his amusement. There are so many verses in the bible where God is angry at people for acting in evil ways, or not responding to Him or His message after He sends prophets to warn people to repent, or holding people accountable for their actions (Implying or downright saying that they should have acted otherwise). I could go on and on about how the Calvinist has to redefine what terms like love and justice mean in order to make their warped interpretation of the bible work...
But just google CHRISTIAN MOLINISM so that you can have a 3rd option that is actually biblical, and decide for yourself.

When you see someone you REALLY care about who dies as an unbeliever (Like your adult child, or a parent, or a brother, or a sister, or a childhood friend, or a kind coworker)... How do you process that sad event?
      - Do you say to yourself... "God you are so good for never giving _______ a chance to repent. God I am really overwhelmed with praise for the way you planned from before creation for ______ blank to spend eternity in hell, even though scripture says you desire none to perish.
      - Or do you say to yourself... "It is so sad that someone I care about decided to reject God for their entire life, and now will be held accountable for their sin."

I have a question. I have been witnessing a lot of arguments and debates. Can we lose salvation etc. what bothers me though is when we start calling each tares. No one can come to me unless The Father brings them to Me first. This may have answered my question already but here it is.
For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.-Romans 12:3-5
God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. Is our faith a gift from God? If so then why argue over doctrine and label each other as tares? Is not His sovereignty and grace not greater than doctrine?

Here’s the key, we don’t know the hearts of others, we don’t have knowledge of the future, but what we do know is that God works on a timeline, through his creation. For all we know, something you or I say could be the very means that God has chosen to use in time to turn a heart to himself. God’s words and truth is life, so preaching his truth is vitally important, and making sure the right message is conveyed is why doctrine is so important.
Hopefully this answers your question. God bless!

God-Yahweh is off flesh and bone, NOT made of Spirit. to say that he is spirit and not made of flesh and bone would invalidate scripture-prophecy the "body" must be "risen" after 3 days. period. period. Case in point per prophecy {of the forgiveness of Israel}, at the point of last days "Ben David" [genesis 49: 8-13] will appear before Israel and show him his "hands" and the "wounds" that are placed on it [
Nevi’im - Zechariah 13:6] this is ONE of many evidence for how Israel will now it is in fact "Ben David"; prior to this factual scripture prophecy that all the Jewish prophets hold to, they also point to one who will usher in "Ben David" the sounding of the trumpet [rams horn] preparing the progression of the restoration of the state of Israel..... recognition of Israel being a country of its own statehood..... rebuilding of the temple [tabernacle-temple mount]..... vailing of "Ben David" or what christians believe to be the 2nd coming. What ever book you read from to sight for you scripture must [by scripture law] line up with the old testament in a straight line of progression from Gen.-Rev..period. period. I have laid out scripture for you to read for yourself, I don't know what book you are reading from, because it has portion removed from it.
Luke 24:34 ... 39 Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; ‘a ghost does not have flesh and bones’, as you see I have.” 40 When he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet; 44 He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.” 45 Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. 46 He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, 47 and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things.
{And the seed of the tribe of the children of Israel came out of the vineyard} Ephraim - Nevi’im - Zechariah 6:12 And you shall speak to him, saying, "So said the Lord of Hosts, saying: Behold a man whose name is the shoot, who will spring up out of his place and build the Temple of the Lord. Ben Yosef [genesis 48:13-20; 49: 22-24] one who usher in, gathering of tribes, prior to rebuilding-recognition of Israel for restoration of tabernacle; time of formation Israel’s intra-bank - financial promise.
Nevi’im - Zechariah 13:6 And one will say to him, "What are these wounds between your hands?" And he shall say, "That I was smitten in the house of my friends." Ben David [genesis 49: 8-13]

1).- According to calvinism GOD created a cherub predestinated to rebel himself and become Satan, so at the end Satan obey GOD doing what he was predestinated to do 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 which is a clear proof that calvinism indeed is a case for Satan and I'm pretty sure it was invented by him, to blame GOD of his behavior and portrait himself as a victim of his sovereignty.
JESUS said "WHOSOEVER BELIEVE IN HIM SHALL BE SAVE" here believe is a verb and a verb is perform by a subject and the subject in this case is the person who is being challenge to believe in JESUS ... That's why the next verse 3:8 says: He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth Not is condemned already, because he hath Not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
So the action of believe or believe not, is a decision made of who is being challenged by the challenger which in this case is GOD and in John 3:16 GOD is challenging the whole World.
2).- You calvinists are like mormons who believe in a different jesus , the jesus of calvinism challenge cripples to run and jump, the jesus of calvinism challenge the blind to read and to describe things as somebody who is able to see.
But the true JESUS says in John 9:41 If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.
JESUS said in: John 10:37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. 10:38 But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him. .... How can you not see that JESUS is challenging them to believe in HIM ?? ... and how hypocrite you have to be in order to say that they were incapable to believe in HIM??
You calvinist have a different JESUS.
John 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. 6:45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.
JESUS is telling here that is they were read the prophets and learn what THE FATHER said through them, they will come to HIM,
This is the same people whom JESUS told in John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
You calvinists have a different jesus, you're just a modern pharisees who put their traditions of men above the Words of JESUS.

Do you have any certainty that God works all things according to the counsel of His will? Ephesians 1:11 LSB
[11] In Him, we also have been made an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will,
Does He have a plan for evil? Yeah.
      Romans 9:22-24 LSB
[22] And what if God, wanting to demonstrate His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much patience vessels of wrath having been prepared for destruction, [23] and in order that He might make known the riches of His glory upon vessels of mercy, which He prepared beforehand for glory- [24] even us, whom He also called, not from among Jews only, but also from among Gentiles?

1 Corinthians 1:20 For all the promises of God in Christ are yea, and in Christ Amen, unto the glory of God by us.
The promise of predestination is in Christ.
Calvinism is a (men-center doctrine) according to calvinism you are predestinated before you believe in Christ.
The Bible is a (CHRIST-CENTER DOCTRINE) where all the good promises of GOD are for those who are in CHRIST.
1Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in CHRIST, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Therefore according to the Bible to be count among of the predestinated you must be in CHRIST first, you must be born again first.
Calvinism is as false as the devil himself, it blames GOD and favors satan, in calvinism GOD predestinated a Cherub to became satan.
Ezekiel 28:14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.
15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.
