Love it but why oh why did I not see this 3 weeks ago eek. I have been trying this and realise that from watching this I need an assistant, I was trying on a stand but wasn't close enough. Will retry on next nice day, thank you Jess, as always
Thank you for all of your wonderful and informative videos. Each time I watch them I learn a lot. Just want to inform you that you are appreciated more than you’ll ever know!! Please keep the videos coming.
Thanx Jess, these tips are just what we needed (except for our Canon R5, our equipment mirrors yours). Now if Mother Nature could just melt the old snow still soaking the ground, we would so be flat out in the muddy grass!
I like all your tutorials ans videos. You make an incredible work and it's a real pleasure to follow you. Sorry for my bad english because my first language is french. I'm really interresting by your workshop online because your automatic translation on RUclips are a great tool for understand your video. Peps & Scot
Hi.. Your videos are cheat cards.. So useful 3rd time watching this one now.. So if you was shooting inside under long strip lights.. Would you use the same technic of testing the shot before the flash? And set the iso to what you need to get the shot.. Or would u be best just using the light from the flash and set the iso to 100 so the first picture is dark.. 🤔..?
I have just bought my first speedlite.. And finding this video a great help 😊.. I even tried with a cat today a black cat.. I have a question if yoy don't mind... So when you are setting your exsposre first as I am shooting indoors and not much light I normally have to up the iso.. To get the right exsposre. So when I am ready to use the flash do I lower the iso so it does not blow out?
I'm wanting to learn flash as I feel it's the next step I need to take. It's a lot easier with these sort of shots if you have an assistant but without that extra person, how would you manage this?
Awesome video! I have a question however, do you have a book by any chance? That would be so cool if you had one! You have such awesome tips and photos.
Hi, love your videos except you make it look so so easy and I know its not!! I am just starting my journey as a complete beginner and am so confused about kit... what what you recommend for a camera for beginner? budget around £1500-£2000 max? Many thanks ....
it really depends. it's hard to say what you want until you're able to play around with things. have you thought about renting a camera for a test drive?
Taa for that, good vid. Like your voice controlled strobe boom. Are you using TTL so you don't have to worry about changes in distance and such, or do you just prefer the way it calculates fill?
Absolutely distances yes 🙌 I find using TTL with manual ambient (and a good voice controlled boom) gives me a really high level of similarity in exposures, so editing is a piece of cake 🤓
@@ThatPhotographySpot Cheers for replying. I really like how simple and quick the technique is. I've been photographing Schipperkes, which are blacker than the blackest thing ever, accessorized with black bits, and this might be worth a shot I think. I love the little guys but they're killing me in LrC.
Is flash ok for dog eyes? I just got worried comment from my client. I usually shoot dog portraits at studio with many lights on so not dark but customer still complained if we can shoot without flash because she believes flash is bad for eyes. (which am not sure if so or actually is bad) I am not dog owner so I would like to know how much light is ok for dog's sensitive eyes. (if It's ok if I have softbox on ? )
Any suggestions on how to get this shot with super-budget equipment? I just got a Zeiss 12mm 2.8 for super cheap that I initially only got for landscapes (I hike a lot). I am super excited that I would be able to use the lens in this way!!
Bonsoir. Vos 2 chiens se trouvent a l"ombre de la softbox . Est ce calculé ou le fruit du hasard ? -- Good evening. Your 2 dogs are in the shade of the softbox. Is this calculated or the result of chance?
No, not calculated - this technique would work just as well with them in full sun - just make sure that your lights are powerful enough to overpower the sunshine :)
What would it look like without that light? Can you just have a flash on that camera? Sime dogs may not like the light being held up close to them. This is for strangers dogs that want it done.

Better late than never Jackie I guess?!
"Finn does as he wants" 🤣 I'm probably Finn's age and I totally respect his attitude. Good on yer Finn !
He's such a legend, honestly he can do whatever he wants!

Thank you so much 🙂
You are so brilliant. Thank you for helping all of us.
Thank you for the kind words 🙂
Love it...this is a fun new project if I ever get lights:)
So much fun 🙂

Glad you found it useful! We have had such odd weather here recently, sun, snow, rain and wind all in a day!

"We're going to Shoot a few dog, because, why not !!!" Out of context That Photography Spot.
Interesting on doing the TTL for the flash, I need to try that, Thanks!
No problem 👍
Thanks Jess, that was fab-u-lous. Thank you very much.
Thank you!!
This looks amazing! Thanks a lot for your video, got me quite motivated to try it out.
Hope you enjoy it!
Thanks Jess.
You're very welcome 🙂
Great work Jess (oh and Dan of course excellent light holding)
Thank you (also Dan says thank you too!)
So simple, but the photos turned out sooo cute!
Yes! So much fun!
Hello, great video! Would a godox ad200 be enough for this? Thank you!
LOVE this😍 wide angle lens is next on my list!!!!
Is it possible to do these photos without the flash? I've been wanting to try this sort of style for a white but haven't got any special light/flash
Yes, but you need to make sure the sun is behind you, lighting the puppas face :)

Practice too, it's mostly practice!

We've got a book on offer with the latest online course we are running - details on the website!

omg finn is adoerable =D
Isn't he just 🥰
Thank you! Any suggestions for those times when a helper isn't available?
I have resorted to crouching under a light stand with snacks in emergency situations!
@@ThatPhotographySpot Thanks!!!

Yeah you should be fine!
I’d love to do this- just need to find a willing assistant!
Canine or human?!
Could this be done with the on camera flash as well? I can't really afford a separate flash.
i use on camera flash! and I have a soft box around my flash. it works starting out, until you're ready to upgrade

Could you get a good result with maybe just reflector board?
Not quite the same, but worth a try!
Great! If you run out of ideas for photo tutorials you can always do hair tutorials instead. I would definitely watch. :-)
Noted! 😂😂😂
what lens that
I say the full equipment list towards the beginning, it is a Sigma Art 20mm 1.4 😊
@@ThatPhotographySpot nice your work is good
Animals and very young children cannot see flash. So no need to acclimatize them !
What would it look like without that light?
