Over here, on the west coast of Canada, paint and rubber usually lasts a long time.
If I was you, I would apply a coat of silicone lubricant on that weatherstrip to protect it.

Yeah that's so much! I hate paying people for so something I can do myself...I've been riding around with tape on my to keep out the rain here in the PNW. Body shop said, they dont do it, they referred to me to auto glass repair shop who said they only do glass ( I know that is a lie); Toyota can't get me in to fix until January 2022, they said due to labor shortage...this womans going to give it a try on my 05 tc scion. thanks.😁

I have the same year, make, and model. Is it an OE part from Toyota? I cant find that part at any shop. Also, does it fit for the driver side because that's where mine needs to be replaced.

I need help my window for van keeps getting caught by the inside rubber and won't go down it'll stop like halfway when I'm trying to put the window down
You may have to either replace that rubber, or maybe your window is going down on an awkward angle? hopefully that helps 😁
This is a pretty old video but any chance you could help me out? I can’t seem to get the new weather strip to click into place. I see 3 clips it should be clipping into but it just won’t click in
It's either you'll have to slam it with your palm in place, or the clips might be broken lol 😃

For this specific part, I went to the dealership parts store. I think I called them and asked for the specific part for the car model.

Allen Silman I lived near the beach so the salt air would’ve rust a lot of the metal or moisture can get moldy etc.
Mine seems to have foam under the window weather strip for noise insulation. Any clue where go to get those?

Isnt that part referred to as a car door window molding ? And isnt weather stripping actually the inside (both door side and body frame) rubber seal that can be glued or has adhesive that sticks back on?

A lot of water can go through the door etc. It also left a really sticky residue from the cracked rubber.

DJJusJay thanks for your prompt reply, an estimate is fine. So glad I found your video, a mechanic just quoted me $160 to fix this, what a rip off! It took you less than 5 minutes and so easy to do, just need to find the part.
Dang, it's most likely the labor costs. I bought my part from the Toyota dealership. Walked in & asked for the part # :)
