This one brings back some memories.
I worked on a 1958 TD 14-2 back in diesel school. It came in for an LOF and check the brakes. I ended up rebuilding the brakes, final drives, repairing levers, pins, and every time the owner came in he added to the list. I guess he liked my work because he wouldn't let anyone else work on it.
I learned so much working on that machine.🤙

My dad had a brand new TD20c when we went mining in Alaska in 1972 and we also started having problems with the cross shaft on it, it broke the end off and we replaced it with a new shaft which eventually broke as well then we cut the shaft in two, made some thick gussets to go over the shafts and welded them solid to the frame so the bearing surface could still pivot on the track frame but without putting so much strain on the shaft. it worked good for a while, eventually the end of the shaft sheared off.

I enjoy watching all your videos because you do good mechanic work and don't cut corners on your rebuilds. My dad had an excavating company till about 2012 and we always ran older stuff but kept it in great shape. I learned allot from him and others that worked for him. I think learning things at a young age before your out of high school is key. It worry’s me with the kids now days not picking any skills up when they are young. After doing a service like this do I need to bleed the air out of the hydraulic system?
I have a Cat 963 that busted a line to a lift cylinder so I replaced the line and hydraulic filters since almost all the oil ran out. After changing the line and both filters & filling up with fluid I can't get the lift cylinders to work. The tractor runs and moves in gear but the bucket won't lift or tilt.
