I like the idea using the engine stand to rebuild it on, beats the daylights out of rolling it on the floor back and forth on 6x6 chunks! Its good to see Hunter working along as well! Have a great day and thanks again for taking me along!

Any way a person looks at the winch issue, you don't want to make the same mistake twice. I like the idea of exposing your boys to the experience of repair work in the shop. Experience is always the best teacher in life. Thanks for the interesting videos, they are enlightening to see what you have to do to make something correctly.

The extra parts are called, "pocket parts" by some, although you would have to have some big pockets and a strong pair of suspenders to keep your pants up. It is really good to see Hunter learning life skills the best way, too.

Removed a transmission from a 275 Clark Michigan loader for repairs. It would not push into a sandpile in 2nd gear, and 3rd was weak under way. After complete disassembly, discover all the clutch packs were the same, owner did not want to repair properly. SO I swapped 4th clutch pack with # 2 , and put 1st in 3rd replaced needed bearings and gaskets, reinstalled put it back to work. Company went belly up 6 months later.

Ah, it takes me back to the ole days when I was the supervisor for the winch assembly line in CAT Decatur,IL. We were to build eight ?? winches per day. I had four guys or five??? and they would tell me each morning which models we had enough parts to build. One or two might have been on the schedule. That usually changed about noon because our own machine shop didn't give us the parts they were supposed to produce a week ago. It was a real screwed up mess. Those were winches designed by Hyster and "re-engineered" buy Caterpillar.

Interesting given the amount of vibration on that unit, the designers didn’t specify lock washers or locknuts on the winch. I came from the aircraft industry, we locked or wired everything from the toilet door up. Maybe that’s coloured my view of fastening.
