Every other vehicle that you have as its competitor will out perform it but you buy this you don’t have to worry about it breaking down and this will hold its value more than its competitors.
You pay for the longevity. I know multiple examples of this engine with over 500k miles whereas the competition struggle to go half that before they end up in the junkyard

I have 2019 RCF...one of only a couple in my area. Breaking necks damn near everyday because no one knows what it is and there's not one on every block. Not the fastest V8 but the but probably the most reliable V8 on the planet, and it can take some punishment. The 2UR-GSE has been around forever and Toyota/Lexus keeps refining it. The ISF, GSF, RCF and IS500 mate it to an 8-speed auto transmission, while the LC500 uses a 10-speed auto trans.
That’s my problem with Toyota/lexus they just need to turn the performance up a notch and they’ll blow the competition out of the water but conservativeness is their motto
Not really. The moment they do that,is the moment they turn up the price in the process that kills people's interest to buy them vs cars with similar performance and etc that are cheaper and can outperform is the issue they always run into.
Ehhh. Having driven an IS500 (same engine as RCF) around town, it will put the gap on just about anything around, and get 25mpg cruising at 80. It’s understandable to compare Lexus to other luxperformance brands but they almost don’t build cars to compete with the likes of Benz and BMW. They know their customer base and are willing to sacrifice some sales to stay true to the brand.
i honestly wish that this car was the underpinning for the new supra instead of the Z4. It would be in line with the Q60 being the luxury Z, the CT4 being the luxury Camaro, and even in line with the old Supra as the SC and Supra were the same platform.
@@rexthewolf3149 Right, but the RC is more like the older Supras than the new Supra is. The new Supra is a small two-seat sports coupe, whereas the old one is a four-seat grand tourer.
Actually the newer RCF’s actually have a touch screen and I personally find the new screen placement a-lot more aesthetically pleasing as well. Because it’s touchscreen they have brought the screen up and forward so it’s a-lot easier to reach and use, also is more attractive and engaging but not to much. I personally really love it over the deeply placed kinda hidden knob controlled design in previous years.
Its nice but its about 6-9k overpriced. Then you have the tax on parts and tuning. For that amount of money I would rather just get into a c6 z06. I wouldnt say it was forgotten, it just priced itself out of popularity.
It's the price. The price puts it in the realm of some pretty awesome cars... many of which give you better performance and *subjectively* better interiors. 10 to 15K less, and this car is a no brainer.
The RC was the SC400 of its time, while being underwhelming. That's why Tom's did a ecu tuning to help its shifting and laggy throttle response. It didn't get the love and recognition it deserved, for those problems and pricing.
I love the multi use under-the-radar Lexus sport luxury cars, the reason of the chilled out SC with lil boost is probably because most of these engines are already running a high comp 11.8:1 inc my 2IS350 (V6), cool vid!
No one wants these because no one in their right mind would pay 40k plus for a 7-8 year old car with 60-80k miles on it when you can buy a used supra for slightly more with half the miles. This car makes no sense anymore for the price. You’re talking used c7 territory or just buying a c6 z06, s550 mustang, 08-12 gt500 and many other vehicles for the money. Just isn’t appealing for the price and age. Hell I’d buy an m550i with 25k miles for 40-45k.
Got the same supercharger on my camaro ss , barely hear is boosted . The cam def hides the sound even more but it pulls hard for such a small supercharger
Nothing happened, it just didn’t get the publicity it deserved. Lexus racing has been dominating imsa gt3 racing. Handing out whooping to the c8.r and the Porsche rsr. And everyone else. THEY WON THE WHOLE CHAMPIONSHIP IN 2023!!!!!
Worth reviewing a GSF honestly. Not the fastest in its segment, honestly F cars just have an old school character to them that you don’t find much anymore. I had the decision to make Lexus RCF or BMW M in my decision making was price, speed, reliability 😢. BMW is fast as hell made for performance, but repair costs without knowing how to work on myself or have a friend who is BMW mechanic. I iive in LA and BMW are a dime a dozen. I choose the RCF not as fast, but with a custom exhaust, coilover suspension no supercharger yet. We can't tune our cars In California ( won't pass smog check). I beat the hell out of my RCF, but I also keep up my maintenance on point, synthetic oil change every three thousand miles, fluid monitored, inspect my brakes and tires regularly that's about it. No engine problems no electrical, no, oil leaks no compression problems, no rattling, smoking. It's just runs hard run fast and it's my daily and track car. I am good. Can a BMW do the same for me I really don't think so.
I had a Lexus is250 that I bought at 19 years old off my parents for $4k put another $3k of aftermath parts to make it look better honestly out of all the cars and trucks I had the Lexus was one of my best car reliable vehicle

Lexus as a brand is just too expensive for what you get and the lack of manuals and aftermarket compared to the competition makes it hard to get into Lexus
You're literally criticising Lexus for what it is - a reliable luxury car manufacturer. Makes me happy that you finally made another rcf review! Such a great high revving NA v8! They dont make cars like these anymore these days. Most companies go with turbos or superchargers
No doubt 100% correct love my b7 rs4 manual of course wouldn't sell it for anything.
I would love to see a youtuber speak about the culture of the cars they review, from Italian to German, each of the legacy makers from these countries have a reason they focus on different aspects of what they believe is a complete car. This has way more depth than the typical Western 0-60 and 1/4 mile time. JDM has so much more depth then you touched on my man, good review none the less.
I've been wanting this car for years. Yes, there's easily better options, but its such a refined piece of art
I just love lexus/toyota man, I was honestly thinking of buying a bmw just for the experience but lexus/toyota will always have my heart
Problem was it was too heavy, too expensive, bad transmission and too slow to compete with the m4
And who said it was designed to compete with the M4? The transmission must be 'bad' in the M4 too as they both have very similar shift speeds.
RC F may have been heavy compared to last gen M4 but current gen M3 and M4 are close in weight or heavier than 2024 RC F lol
@@SirCherbs they got heavier but are backed up by the fact that bmw gave them more power,a awd option, and a manual that made people look over the weight increase to a degree.
@@carboydorifutoparty3976 totally understand your point. I’m just saying people call the RC F heavy but it really isn’t that heavy anymore.
@@SirCherbs fair, wish they'd atleast bump the cars power up(while still being n/a) to atleast 500hp. I will never understand why people are against that when people literally do that all the time and say "it's reliable even with fbo" so I don't see how it's impossible for lexus to do it tuners do it.
I don't know what you're talking about. This car is always on my radar and it has my attention at all times. I love it and I want one at some point and I also want the LC 500 I have an isfj and it's a dream
Wowwww that’s my boy Frankie’s RCF One of the most beautiful build ever seen 😍🤍
What’s his ig?
I’m happy with my ‘12 isf. They got is right the first time.
I kept wondering why the RCF looked so futuristic yet familiar to me and I finally get it. With the shape and window kick up it reminds me of me of a Celica!
I was looking to upgrade from an 86 and looking at an RCF but, its a bit expensive and no manual option soooo....i sad
Man I’m saving for some sort of f sport car with a 5.0 and the rcf is on top of the list too bad they hold value like crazy and now u made this video furthering the fact that this car is cool as hell
It was never offered in a tradiational manual transmission speed and the pirce point was kinda expensive.
If you perceive the model in that manner, you don't understand the target market and audience of the RCF.
I saw one identical at the gas station b4. The video doesnt do it justice. Its an absolutely beautiful car
Its a coupe, not a sedan. 2 doors david
i honestly wish that this car was the underpinning for the new supra instead of the Z4. It would be in line with the Q60 being the luxury Z, the CT4 being the luxury Camaro, and even in line with the old Supra as the SC and Supra were the same platform.
Supra handles better than this.
@@rexthewolf3149 Right, but the RC is more like the older Supras than the new Supra is. The new Supra is a small two-seat sports coupe, whereas the old one is a four-seat grand tourer.
Because it was expensive
“…Sports Sedan…” lmao😂
It's the price. The price puts it in the realm of some pretty awesome cars... many of which give you better performance and *subjectively* better interiors. 10 to 15K less, and this car is a no brainer.
taking this over a mustang any day lol
I'll take them both. I agree with the guy, just two different motors. I have a Volvo V8 and it sounds and drives amazing.
Idk i own one myself and 3gen coyote are really good and they got a big performance aftermarket suport
Coyote shits all over this
Great un common v8 japanese muscle car. Throw an RRacing super charger plus exhuast and call it a day.
It's CRIMINAL that you didn't bump off the limiter even once 😭
Will always pick these over anything similar price and 6 cyl
Probably because it’s boosted 🫤
@@LuztinnNope! That NA V8 sound is unmatched!
At this point the Lexus brand is un-obtainium for me, BUT, I absolutely love the aggressive grille styling.
I mean, at least the grill is good for scaring the xenomorphs away 😂
The RC was the SC400 of its time, while being underwhelming. That's why Tom's did a ecu tuning to help its shifting and laggy throttle response. It didn't get the love and recognition it deserved, for those problems and pricing.
I love the multi use under-the-radar Lexus sport luxury cars, the reason of the chilled out SC with lil boost is probably because most of these engines are already running a high comp 11.8:1 inc my 2IS350 (V6), cool vid!
The lc500 is one of the prettiest cars on the market today
No one wants these because no one in their right mind would pay 40k plus for a 7-8 year old car with 60-80k miles on it when you can buy a used supra for slightly more with half the miles. This car makes no sense anymore for the price. You’re talking used c7 territory or just buying a c6 z06, s550 mustang, 08-12 gt500 and many other vehicles for the money. Just isn’t appealing for the price and age. Hell I’d buy an m550i with 25k miles for 40-45k.
No one talks about it, and it's still expensive (used older models)
Got the same supercharger on my camaro ss , barely hear is boosted . The cam def hides the sound even more but it pulls hard for such a small supercharger
The car not being talked about as much makes me like it even more
Since i can only find a handful in my province. I'd say those who buy these keep them.
Nothing happened, it just didn’t get the publicity it deserved. Lexus racing has been dominating imsa gt3 racing. Handing out whooping to the c8.r and the Porsche rsr. And everyone else. THEY WON THE WHOLE CHAMPIONSHIP IN 2023!!!!!
imsa? A knockoff WEC? Cool.
I bought myself one it’s just all around different 🤷🏽♂️and best of all very reliable
Worth reviewing a GSF honestly. Not the fastest in its segment, honestly F cars just have an old school character to them that you don’t find much anymore. It’s such a niche performance brand that has a great community behind it & it’s fun going to meets seeing maybe 1-2 GSFs max compared to 30+ M & AMGs. If you care about speed or 0-60 times would rather get used German with more performance that just need a downpipe & a tune lol
The RCF/GSF/IS500 really only cater towards Lexus enthusiasts lol those that have owned an ISF or just love Lexus reliability. Cause the price of a New Lexus IS500, one can buy a G80 M3. I love Lexus but I’d rather have that beast S58 motor lol
Very good point, after driving a s58 m4c the other week, I’m like dang because I love Lexus but can’t argue with a great motor. I own a is350 and I’m scared to jump ship to bmw. I love Toyota
Atleast you don't have to do the rod bearings as a maintenance item. Haha
bmw wooooooooooooooo
Reliable performance at its best #LexusF love my FBO tuned ISF
I'm with you, the mouse pad is what keeps me from buying a newer Lexus
Over price.. rather get the LC500. Same price range and more exotic
Cost is too high for what your getting... its just the knock off LC...
cant be a knock off if it came before the LC500 and the RCF is lighter
I saw an Asian girl driving one when I stopped at a local Ramen shop. I was in the Beamer of course. Meh Lexus is ok the SUVs but car wise I’ll swing to BMW
This and the Q60 are the sexxiest coups out there
Why do you call it a sedan? It’s not. It’s a coupe. The altima driver got you messed up in the brain cells 😂
I can’t stand red interiors but appreciate the build! Thanks for the video. Not a bad sounding v8
I'm all saved up for a GS F and shopping. that Borla is looking like a distinct possibility 😀
hopefully I get to keep most of the reliability 😮
These held their value though
I rarely drive my RC F, but when i do drive it. Tons of compliments…🔥🔥🔥
I believe the main complaint for this thing was its weight cause it's like an M4 with an elephant on top, I'm surprised you didn't mention it a single time
Nice car but msrp is around 68k which is already a big stretch for the performance you get out of it and you still have to deal with dealer markup’s…
It’s funny every car gets smog checked but california is still smoggy. The cars have nothing to do with it.
All of the F cars are underrated
I had a Lexus is250 that I bought at 19 years old off my parents for $4k put another $3k of aftermath parts to make it look better honestly out of all the cars and trucks I had the Lexus was one of my best car reliable vehicle
My 2017 Focus RS was that fast. I moved on to a GT-R which was an upgrade.
I’ve driven a couple of these and it felt like an SS Camaro without the 1LE Magride. Harsh ride and kind of crashed over sharp bumps. Interior is gorgeous, sounds awesome ride not as good as my 1 LE or M2.
Lexus as a brand is just too expensive for what you get and the lack of manuals and aftermarket compared to the competition makes it hard to get into Lexus
You're literally criticising Lexus for what it is - a reliable luxury car manufacturer. People that purchase Lexus models tend not to desire manual transmissions or extensive aftermarket performance parts. Would you say the same about Aston Martin, Jaguar and Mercedes? What you think it is competing with is not what they made the RCF to compete with.
lack of aftermarket is due to those highly encrypted ECU's
@@gavinr9107 true point but brands like jaguars and Aston are seen as more elite then Lexus in my opinion and Aston at the time did still make manual cars and Mercedes does have aftermarket support I guess we can compare it to jaguar but I feel like jaguar as a brand at least in America as really lost relevance
@@freddywiththek1908 Absolutely Aston and Jaguar are more expensive and more 'elite', I am not denying that. However for someone that is relatively well off that wants something in the middle ground of luxury, performance and long term reliability in coupe form the RCF is the perfect candidate. And that is the market that Lexus is targeting.
why are we calling this a sedan?
Every review I saw say this car is not worth it and go for something else. It is cool asf though
Great car, not so good pricing.
@5:45 Aston Martin doesn't even come close in terms of reliability.
It's problem from what i understand is that its slow, heavy, and suspension is great for the track. People buy sports and want to race them.
I get paying for reliability but dang Lexus 😅. These RCs are just way too expensive
Because they slap on the F Sport badges on everything so no one takes it serious. Also there was never a manual option 😂
The new 2024 rc fs are cool but the interior is literally like it’s stuck in the early 2000s and they’re way more than they should be. But I’ve always really liked them.
Noooo david dont hype up the car need the prices to be low
No manual, performance doesn't really match the price. Even though it will probably be hassle free in stock form. Enthusiasts don't really care because we're replacing parts anyway.
I have never driven an RC-F, but was looking for a smaller coupe and test drove the RC 350. The transmission was so anemic. I just couldn't get excited about it. I went with a BMW M240i instead.
DREAM SETUP but need that boost to be louder
I prefer GS F because I can use as a "family" car ❤😂
Exactlyyyy😂
I always tell people lexus F cars aren't straight line car, theyre track cars made for the corners. 3:37
Maybe you should get one to replace the mustang q:
