I have a 1448 Jon boat with a deck, hatches, rod locker, and all the tackle boxes. With this additional weight in the plus 2 adults I went the Mercury 15hp 4 stroke EFI 2022 15 inch motor. Whatever motor you purchase make sure is Electronic Fuel Injection. 200% better than a carburetor.
I got the exact same boat from academy here in Texas... i was told the manufacturer shut down for coronavirus and they didn't know when they will be back up... you need to adjust your trailer... should be even across the guides... its a good little boat your going to have fun putting it together.
I have a 16 ft Joh boat, and bought the 15 hp Yamaha. I see it like this, if I'm on the lake or river fishing and a storm comes, we'll you wanna get off it right?? Get them added horses ...
Where in SC did you purchase yours? I bought the exact same boat at the academy sports in Easley South Carolina at the end of May 2021 for $1199. A month or so later they jacked the price up to $1699, so I’m glad I didn’t wait to get it like I was originally planning on doing. I love the boat so far, I did end up having to go to Columbia to the DNR Headquarters to get my paperwork settled and done.
I like the boat but academy raised the price to $1700... that's crazy because 2 years ago I bought a 1436 alumacraft at academy for $829 almost a $900 increase.
Go aluminum, no wood... I am doing a boat.. 15hp for speed upgrade the jets and carburetor for a 20hp just put in a sub floor and built a battery box on the front of the boat for 2 batteries...
Pretty good still waiting for the numbers an paper work to come in so all I'm able to.do is paddle it I'm editing a video now should be out this weekend
Since your SC also. When adjusting trailer make sure the bunks got to the end of the boat or you will end up with cupping and cracks at the transom. make sure the mid support is forward enough that when the boat fills with water on the trailer it will not put so much weight on it to push thru the bottom of the boat. You might want to put some longer bunks on that trailer look very short.
I got a used suzuki dt8 1986 was on the back of a sailbot barely used. The ole man passed away and I bought it for 300$. Started right up and when I took the hood off it was ao clean I could eat off that engine
Took my 12 footer out today for the first time. I was so bad at backing up the fwc got out and helped me. He asked me do you want a warning for no whistle so nobody else messes with you nice guy I asked for a warning lmao

Curious to what size horsepower motor would you put on this boat
9.9 merc is what I'll put on it more than likely

Love ❤️ it. This is what I want. Maybe some seats…I’m thinking. Giving me motivation, thanks for the video
Right now we are fishing out of Hobie PA’s but have been looking at the alumacraft 1440 and thinking about a 9.9 hp.
I tried to find specs online. Could you tell me how wide the boat is. I appreciate it.
My bad.. I just rewatched and I heard you say 1436.
@@angiecoleman6128 i put mine next to my 1236 old jon boat and its wider at the top. i am pretty sure the bot is 36 though.
That model have the heavy aluminum build like a Lowe or is it thin like Star Craft? Reason I ask is Lowe run a deeper drought than Star Craft.
I couldn't tell you that tbh but this boat is built heavy specially in the transom
Alumacraft factory where they made their Jon boats closed down here in Arkansas. Apparently it has something to do with Evinrude cutting production.
Just subscribed, love my John Boat!
Change the pads on the trailer, make them longer to give you more support for the bottom of the boat, thats what I did with mine.

Yea sure are higher in price I'm looking for one and it's ridiculous right now
@@selfmade9562 yeah I heard it’s because the price of aluminum is going through the roof. Kinda sad to see these things keep going up so in price
How much does it weigh?

Thanks for sharing i have been waiting for some to come in at academy but they don't know when they will get some in.
The demand is high I'm still waiting on the DNR to send papers . Saying covid is making them behind smh

Will be the best decision you made.. go aluminum, I am redoing my boat my own way with aluminum..

Took my 12 footer out today for the first time. I was so bad at backing up the fwc got out and helped me. He asked me do you want a warning for no whistle so nobody else messes with you nice guy I asked for a warning lmao
Also didn't have my boat registration painted on the side no trailer lights either lmao
My Man.
went to buy one today and they went up $600, only 100 less than alumacraft 14. had to walk away.
What was the listing price ?
@@clarkindustryz5409 1600 and some change I think. 3 months ago they were 1100 in my area.
@@boogerwolf2015 that's wild bro I would have passed as well you should check the apps an look at the surrounding areas or call around .
How much was it
1076 was 1176
And it just went up again, that darn boat $2000 now really sad.

That's it
Now it’s $2000 at academy 😭
Aluminum is high smh better off buying used
Too much wood will slow the boat down...
They had it cuz nobody wants it man they scarry as hell to me let me know how you really like it
Madison ms
Fuel injection

I run a 9.9 Suzuki on my 14 foot alumacraft
Thinking about getting a 9.9 mercury but if I can find any thing I'll take it dealers near me have no stock on anything
Do a flat top deck with a trolling motor and power poles
And invest in hand tools
