Ken, my wife laughed at me when I told her over wine last night that I wanted to sing... actually sing. I just found you and I think there is hope. I play piano/keyboards and am good at that but I have been an awful singer. I have issues with the high notes but just in the short time... you have given me hope!!!
Your singing demonstrations are always on point in contrast to those of other vocal coaches on RUclips, and I love how you demonstrated how to sing Is This Love.
My god i have zero knowledge about music except that i like it and expecially your voice. I still watched every second of this video with a lot of concentration which proves you are a good teacher. Keep it up! And a happy new year !
I would never trust a singing coach who doesnt show how they sing the songs themselves !!! Thats the basic. The coach sings the songs . You nailed it Ken ! 👌
To be able to demonstrate the correct and the wrong way can do only someone who has mastered control of their voice and that someone is undoubtedly you Ken, I love how you make it look so easy but I know it isn't, love the song and you nailed it as always. Happy new year Ken
Thank God for your channel and awesome singing tips!! I think it would be really cool if you could do how to sing like Eric Clapton. Particularly “Layla” my favorite song ever, or “Key to the Highway”, or “ Have You Ever Loved a Woman” where he sounds kind of throaty and does that blues style belting stuff. I really wanna learn how to do that. And I’m sure the other guitarists watching your videos would be really happy to see that
Love the vocal break down Ken!! I love your vocal control and timbre to your voice! I would love to hear you handle early Uriah Heep music..... Hint... Hint.... 😉
I'm more of a technical guitar player but I always have a great appreciation for some singers . There's a song you did with Cordola , House of Love and others that has a Coverdale vibe to it . Love it !
Like if you too came here expecting the explanation on how to sing the "so I can hold you in my arms" part. 💔 anyway excelent video as always Ken! You're the best teacher out there.
I like your face expression while you listen to yourself 😅. I've said to my husband, you must listen to Ken singing is this love, come on! He askes for who of this two guys!? Oh, its the same person... 🤣🤣🤣
Hi Ken i have watched a heap of your videos and each time i get all warm and fuzzy inside... But all the lessons wont help, (and iv had a few) if i have no direction, Blues, rock, ballards? do you teach that?
How to sing Is This Love. Hmm… to begin with : be blessed with a lion-esque voice signature (that is, be Ken Tamplin, his cousin Sammy, or David Coverdale).
@@kentamplin By following your instructions, aspiring singers can truly tailor their voices. That being said, even your speaking voice has that Coverdale-like heft. It just sounds great !
Pretty good Ken. You are adding extra note runs that are not in the original, like "sleepless NIGHTS" and overall your tone is a little "pinched" and not as open as Coverdale. That would probably improve by removing all the extra vocal runs at the end of phrases. Hey, I can't sing like you but I worked with a thousand vocalists on thousands of songs and know what I hear. But perhaps you were not going for a perfect copy, cheers and no offence was intended.
David Coverdale is the king of rock ballads. His unique "whine" that carries thru a phrase and melts/blends words together gives him his amazing signature sound. He also has a way of carrying the sound vibrato into his sinus/face? that gives him almost a harmonic at the end of some of his phrases. Have never heard anyone pull off all the Coverdale nuances. He is one of a kind.
In the 90ies Jørn Lande proved several times that he can do it. Listen to his work with The Snakes or the first Ark album - that was very close to DC. After these recordings Jørn started putting more of his own personality in his voice, which I believe is the main key to his success (as no matter how good a copy is, there is only one original). Listen to his entire catalogue, and besides an occasional matter of taste ("Why exactly did he chose to cover this song?") you won't find anything to be critizised...maybe except for the question if a single person ought to be allowed to be so extremely talented.
Ken, you're always totally right..the proof is the singing. For me you're always the best as a teacher and as singer...with no doubt. I love your version and the song..of course. Happy new year Ken! 👍🎶
I love me some whitesnake and David coverdale Ken what a awesome band and awesome rock vocalist is this love is probably my favorite whitesnake song such a beautiful ballad Ken you sing it great Ken your great at singing and demonstrating David your the man when it comes to demonstrations and singing like them always rocking Ken your the pro well done buddy love your students as well man 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Ken would be interested to hear your review of MARK FARNER))) when I listen to the music of this group, goosebumps run down my spine))))) thanks - The Locomotion)))))))))))))
First off, you rule. I'm not sure if it was Slip Of The Tongue or the self titled album but where each musician states their guitars, amps, drums, cymbals etc. David's list is just Marlboro. Classic and epic.
Isn’t that the song WS originally have written for Tina Turner, but David later decided to keep it??? R.I.P Tina.. Course it really got to hold me” A Hold On Me” My favorite part of the chorus… That solo hits me every time… I love that groove and leaning into that sound right there…
Love the vids . Really considering taking part in your course . I play instruments and wanna sing. I do a bit . I notice your tongue always moves a lot . I take it this is practiced and important ? Thank you for awesome content 🙌

That was an outstanding performance and got better and better as you warmed up. Those runs at the end were off the charts and were the high point of the song. The only thing I'd add on this song is in order to make the high, start the first verse at a real low point. Not in a pitch sense but an emotional one and someone in deep despair. This person is at their wits end and "can't take it anymore". It's some super powerful writing there and something Coverdale nailed and this track with the mood coloring at the beginning. But this cover is one for the books for sure.
how do you hit the HIGH notes without sounding like been strangled? i can sing the low notes it sounds good but then high notes come i just cant make it. the chorus kills me, "cos i dont think i can take anymore" is when i struggle. i guess thats my problem im not opening up im trying to continue with the same muscles i was using on the low notes.
One of my favorite esp when he made whitesnake and his short tenure in deep purple but saw him few years ago and his voice is gone - Prob why he’s retiring
Happy New Year Ken! I love your channel - my favorite - and I do so appreciate everything that I have learned. You have brought so much happiness to a woman who didn't have such a happy 2021. God bless you my brother.
Ken, I saw your son on TV today. Very impressed by him. Was already impressed with you, that is why I was following you here on YT. God Bless you and your Family. They are the most important parts of our lives. P. S. you would have been awesome in Journey, but you are a Super star as a Father. Happy New Year Buddy!
I also teach singing lessons in my country and totally agree with you. Some of this "teachers" pass and talk bout techniques, but they themselves can't execute. Hey, your tan in the video was really good!!
Amazing version of this! Watching your videos has made me consider trying to learn to sing. I've been afraid to sing my whole life but you break things down to where it doesn't seem like singing well would be too daunting. Thank you Ken. I would really love to hear you sing Who Wants to Live Forever by Queen. It's one of my all time favorites. Happy New Year!
Periodically I just feel a need to thank Ken for his remarkable and consistent efforts to both educate and improve the singing technique and knowledge of a million subscribers and very likely millions more casual viewers. The caliber of your work, the regularity of your uploads and the astonishing quality of FREE musical experience and wisdom you impart has been a consistent source of wonder and joy over the years. Thank you Ken!
I sing karaoke, strictly for fun. I know I'm okay, but I'd love to be better than okay. This is a song I've always wanted to do well with, but I struggle in the highest pitches. I'll sing Doors and I'll sing Styx. I'll sing STP and I'll even sing Ozzy. But I don't even think I'm singing those right. One of these days, I'll take a course.
Awesome video on step by step, thanks for the demo bro! Hey Ken I wanted to share this Bruce D interview on his voice, a little off topic...this song is beautiful and smooth! Happy New Year, thank you Ken...
Your natural voice is so suited for that tune Ken. Nice.
Brilliant, as always 👍
Ken, my wife laughed at me when I told her over wine last night that I wanted to sing... actually sing. I just found you and I think there is hope. I've learned so much since I've started watching this channel. I know nothing about music but I like to listen to it.
Happy new year🎄🍾

Thanks. I’ve been waiting for this video.

Very good video. Keep it up..
Nice! Where you’re been earlier with this lesson? I recorded my vision of this song and doesn’t feel satisfaction by result
Like if you too came here expecting the explanation on how to sing the "so I can hold you in my arms" part. 💔 anyway excelent video as always Ken! You're the best teacher out there.

Can you make a video about how to sing patience(Chris cornell version)

How to sing Is This Love. Hmm… to begin with : be blessed with a lion-esque voice signature (that is, be Ken Tamplin, his cousin Sammy, or David Coverdale).
You can incorporate the style of all your favorite singers. It's just like adding a tool to your toolbox.

Let's try Fire house When I look into your eyes
Great! Congrats! Singing this song and others like that, with full voice, for 1 hour or more, won't give us a sorethroat or voice losing? 😅
Not if you're doing it correctly.
Knocked it out of the park Ken! :D
Just by watching how you place your tongue as you sing, we know you are a good vocal coach and teacher!
Happy New Year Ken! I love your channel - my favorite - and I do so appreciate everything that I have learned. You have brought so much happiness to a woman who didn't have such a happy 2021. God bless you my brother.

Ken "The Magician" Tamplin does it again. The range you gotta have to go from Morten Harket to David Coverdale.
