I can't wait to be able to devote more time to creating more drawings. I am building a Lyle Hess designed bare hull sailboat that is taking ALL my free time.
I enjoyed the hell out of that video, although I have made up dozens of Ditty Bags. No annoying music or voice over, just the sounds of the labours. Nicely done. Vernon in West Vancouver.
The journey through this video was entrancing. A Workman and His Tools ~ A Craftsman in his expertise ~ History weaved all the way through ~ Emotionally churning and filled with admiration and awe. Love the filming ~ how did that happen? The punctuation of JOHN C. HEINDEL captured my heart. The study that this involved and the willingness to dedicate the time ~ to invite others into the mind of the craftsman, not only you Joey, but the history of the art, the gathering of whatever makes up this magic of art handed down through generations. BRILLIANT!
I was privileged to be there as we watched him take his wings. 🕊 I watched the video again and breathed my way through it, loving every ounce of it and feeling comfort in your workshop that reflected my own childhood memories, especially those Darlins screwed into the shelf to hold the nuts and bolts of life. You have the eyes upon you and the heart within you to carry you forward expressing the amazement of the Heindel artistry.
Extremely well done video. Your workmanship, patience and dedication are inspiring. I’m on my first seam from the design from the Ditty Bag Book but it’s not going to look anywhere near as nice as yours!
I did some canvas work back in the 80s, and my interest is returning. Your video may have me at it again. Thank you!
It was one of my favorite projects while building a sailboat!
Marvelous!
Your pen and ink drawings with water colour brushed shadows was absolutely beautiful! Vernon in WV

I never take for granted where I come from, Thank you for being there as as he breathed his last and we watched him fly away to his next journey.

Jar lids … not Darlins 😀
Nice. Might I suggest, future grommets be secured with the buttonhole stitch.
Thank you!
Awesome video!

Ahoy, Joseph! Nice job and drawings!
Thank you so much, I had a great time making it!
Great video, all the way to the 'color spectrum' arrangement of your books. Very nicely done.
Thanks, you are the first to notice!
Why did he only make the one video? I want to learn more.
Ha, thank you! I would absolutely love to make more videos! We have some really cool things going on recently!

Very well done. You have many talents. I would have liked to see the measurements you used, but I’ll adapt.
All of the measurements are in the sailmakers apprentice. I can send you some if you have a specific question. thanks for your comment!
Hello, where did you buy the original hook that you filed down?
Extremely well done video. Your workmanship, patience and dedication are inspiring. I’m on my first seam from the design from the Ditty Bag Book but it’s not going to look anywhere near as nice as yours!
Thank you, just don’t look close at mine 🤣
Thank you for sharing. What material did you use?
The main bag in the video was waxed canvas duck cloth, the bag that I waxed was plain duck cloth canvas.
What kind of fabric is that? Canvas? If yes, what is the weight?
Yes, Duck cloth from Joann Fabric.. I believe it is around 9oz.
So glad ive found this, ive been scrolling youtube for something and this was it. 🤌
Did you make the twine and rope yourself?
@@chrisleggatt3240 I did not, but that is great idea! I would love to try that.
