- 'King Charles III Joins Family for Late Queen's Vigil'
King Charles III attends a vigil for his late mother Queen Elizabeth II, standing beside her coffin at St Giles' Cathedral in Edinburgh with Prince Andrew and Princess Anne.
Members of the public were also able to enter the cathedral to pay their respects.

Report by Laurence Brooks.
Seeing her children standing around the coffin brought me to tears..seeing their sorrow in their faces. May God comfort them in their sorrow.
I never met the Queen but tears are rolling down my eyes! Also reminds me of the Funeral of our beloved Granny in 2011...Although not royal...in our eyes our granny was the most royal Matriarch! Caring and dutiful as well. I miss her traditional ways always! Ppl of today mostly are not so anymore.
amen...
0hh come on!! They are over 70 years old!!!
@@oskar8112 And do you think that makes it any easier? Have you lost your mother? I was forty years old when I lost mine and it tore my heart to shreds.
@@OdeInWessex Of course it's easier!! I will be very happy if my mother live till 96! That's is gift!?!
Princess Anne always impresses me. So much of both her parents in one package. ❤
Yes Indeed !
@Titik Titik why are you wasting your time
Hardest working member of the sibling’s.
Prince Edward too. They are the quiet achievers.
she is my favourite
My goodness, it must be indescribably difficult to have so many “events” surrounding the loss of their dear mother. One gathering was too much to bear when I lost my beloved mom. Heartbreaking to watch the Queen’s children’s deep sorrow as each event unfolds.
@Titik Titik nothing better to do today but troll RUclips
Yes. It's a huge cross they bear and to do this all publicly. But it also helps them move forward. God be with them, and all of us- it's such a huge loss.
I just cringe at the heartlessness of petty criticisms I've seen online at such a time as this - it has no place at all.
This is so beautiful to me...4 children honoring their Mother, The Queen, this way..My gosh she dedicated her whole life for her people ,ABOVE her own family. And, for 70 years!! her two children were just so small when their mommy pretty much had to leave them to be Queen.. God Bless that woman, HM The Queen
@Titik Titik please do you not know what respect is
This is one of the saddest moments I have watched Her Majesty's Children go through.....to have to stand there and hold on to their emotions as the public of the world looks on .... I can't help but hurt for them. God bless them. Bless Her Majesty and God save the King.
Yesterday Ann looked sooooo sad. Poor thing. I think she was very close to her Mom.
Yes Anne looked so sad. My heart aches for her.
This is dignity and respect. Queen would have been proud.
@Titik Titik how long have you been on he gear
Kings, Princes, Royals... children. They are her children. I can't imagine how difficult it is to lose a parent, especially at this volume, and I am heartbroken for them 💔
I’ve literally been saying that from the beginning. Put aside all the bs or crimes in their personal lives and let them grieve and mourn their mother. At the end of the day they’re still human beings and they should be allowed to mourn too. They’re not given the proper time, space, or privacy to mourn their mother Due to The circumstances of who she is. I don’t want to know how it feels to be in their shoes.
There's lots of people lose parents why does everyone think the RF are so special they are not the only ones who have had loss
@@susanbutler6895 you can be realistic, knowing that other people experience and deal with losses too, and STILL have mercy & be sad for them, even if they are Royals.
I lost my Mum 2 months ago. It is the worst pain I have known. You lose some of yourself too.
@@susanbutler6895 Normal people who lose family members can mourn in peace where as the Royal's or celebrities can't. The Royal's are expected to behave in a certain way and try not to show any emotion which is wrong. Cameras stuck in their face.
So nice to see the 4 siblings together to honor their mother. The queen would be so delighted
The British do everything in such a dignified and refined way. All the ceremonies I've seen for the past few days have been absolutely sublime. These ceremonies are so intricate, and yet, they are superbly organized. In many countries, such ceremonies would take days and days to rehearse and do properly, and in the UK, they go one after another, and everything looks natural and, at the same time, grand and august.
Days and day? We've been practicing them for centuries.
@@eccehomer8182 although the vigil of the Princes has only been a tradition for less than 100years after first being done for George V in 1936.
@@eccehomer8182 As a nation, yes, but I meant all those individuals who participate in them. They somehow know what to do in each case, and they do everything so gracefully. Admirable, just admirable!
They've been doing it for hundreds of years
I agree, nobody does it better.
Oh my what tradition and what is expected from this family is just so heartbreaking when they are grieving in public for their mother. This goes beyond devotion it’s just pure love. I applaud them for their courage to be doing this at a time of great loss. Bless each one and thank you for your service. Much strength in the coming days.💔💔🕊🕊💐💐🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
I feel for the Royal Family and esp for The King having to be in the public eye at a time when he is grieving so much . May the late Queen rest in peace and Long Live The King .
So hard to watch their pain, but my heart swells in pride of their strength and the tremendous love they clearly have.
I hope they know the love we have for them and will always have for Her Majesty.
We are very blessed.
God Bless them all and God Save the King.
@Titik Titik my how small minds work
Britain has not only lost their Queen but also their mother. No one could ever replace her.
Charles' first speech as King was emotional and yet... kingly. Here we see a simple man in grief. It's hard to watch.
He is stoic. Proving himself to be devoted to his Mother and his country. Long live King Charles III.
He has made a strong start in very difficult and emotional circumstances...Going to be a tough week and played out in front of the world's media 🇬🇧🇬🇧
I truly hope that the family feels the love exuding from the people as they file past. Only people who truly loved and respected the Queen would spend 30 hours in line to pay respect. I truly hope the family is buoyed by their love and well wishes.
What a magnificent cathedral. Been there a few times, walked that path many times when I was in a hotel on the Royal Mile and I can't help feeling a part of it even though I'm very far away at the moment. Very fitting that she should be in this historical city where so many are not pro-monarchy. It is simply touching and beautiful, thank you for the silence in the streets.
My heart just aches for the family, having lost all my closest family on my side, I can understand their pain. I hope they get a chance to mourn privately.
They must be exhausted. None of the Queens children are young. They have had no time grieve privately or have time to rest. The King and Queen Consort have not stopped. Princess Royal and the others are not far behind him. God bless them.❤️💔
Their cage is gilded. But it's still a cage.
truly
God bless. So touching
@Titik Titik to much time on your hands and to little to engage in something intelligent
Luke 23:43 - And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.” She went home to be with The Lord. ❤️
I'm sure God welcomed her to Heaven. She was a good person and will be missed.
he said that to the man on the cross beside him.
@Ethan Rogers We can never be “good” enough. That’s why Jesus died on the cross for our sins. He paid the penalty for us. The Bible states the only way to heaven is through salvation knowledge of Jesus. I do believe the Queen is in heaven, due to her belief in Jesus as her Savior.
@@username4441 I used this verse because those who truly repent, even if it is in the final moments of life, will be forgiven by God and taken to heaven to be with him.
@@debbiem6406 yes & yes 🙌💖
I wish they had time to grieve in private - God bless them all so brave and respectful their pain is so evident . Long live the King
Hello beautiful how are you doing, hope you are well and having a wonderful day and time with your family?
The princes vigil is so incredibly powerful. Guarding the casket with her own children. 😭😭😭😭 can’t help but cry.
And the whole ceremony with all the gorgeous uniforms, especially the archers with the feathers in their caps. Beautiful and poignant
Queen Elizabeth will always be remembered by the world.
Princess Anne looks so sad my heart just breaks for her
Descanse en paz Queen Elizabeth!🙏🇬🇧
@Titik Titik take some white powder and a nap
So beautiful to see Her Majesty's The Queens' children keeping vigil. As the Late Queen once said "Grief is the price we pay for love" May she Rest In Peace ✝
It's great to see His Majesty The King, HRH The Princess Royal, HRH The Earl of Wessex and the disgraced despicable Andrew together in honor of their mother, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. RIP to a great lady, and Long Live The King! 👑Also great to see Her Majesty The Queen Consort supporting her husband during this difficult time.
😲
@FelisDomina Yes, I agree, no one knows the private relationship and the affection he has for his mother, Queen Elizabeth II. So it would be cruel to deprive him of the opportunity to participate in the events surrounding celebrating her life and honoring her. I'm sure he will vanish shortly thereafter and I don't expect he will be in attendance at the coronation of The King.
Jonat2Go
It was The Queens wish for him to be there, are you objecting to the Late Queens wishes?
Now is not the time to be uncharitable. They are all grieving for their mother. Andrew may have made poor decisions about his choice of acquaintances, but he was never proved guilty of any wrongdoing.
@@Tractionengine_556 no, I don't see that, why do you think so?
Goodness. He has been ..here.. there and everywhere. People do have to use the bathroom... Or eat. Maybe close his eyes or cry... Bless him ❤❤💔
This is going to be a tough, long and emotional week for all the immediate family members and it will play out in front of the world's media Tanya....He has made a strong and positive start as King in very difficult circumstances 🇬🇧🇬🇧
Long live the King!
On behalf of the Muslims in United Kingdom 🇬🇧 and beyond, we express our heartfelt condolences following the passing of Her Majesty, The Queen. She lived an extraordinary life of tireless service, touching the lives of millions across the world and beyond her compassion, fortitude and dignity throughout her reign, spanning seven decades is an inspiring legacy that will endure for generations ahead our thoughts are with the Royal Family at this difficult time and pray for the prosperity of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth RIP

I can't imagine how hard it would be to lose my parents, especially in this episode, and I'm heartbroken for them💔
God help. Very touching!
RIP 🙏.....from USA 🇺🇸 😢 GOOD BYE AND GOD BLESS 🙌 ♥️
I’ve never been a fan of King Charles.
My heart does break for him, his siblings and families.
Sometimes we, I at least, forget to look beyond a title or such.
I do feel such sorrow for Queen Elizabeth’s family and for all of the places she ruled.
As a daughter, wife, mother & grandmother, I simply say JESUS loves you and I do as well.
May our Lord in Heaven grant you ALL peace, comfort, wisdom, as family and as country.
I also tell you that no matter what has happened, you need to pull yourselves together as family. May be so hard to do, but doable!
LONG LIVE THE KING
Momento para reflexão sobre o ser humano integral. Filha, mulher, mãe e soberana, cumpriu seu destino. 🇬🇧🥀🇧🇷

@Titik Titik what’s with the trolling, proving what low life’s are
@Titik Titik use your time wisely and get a life because your wasting it posting junk
Please forgive me the errors in my last comment I was in another state due to my fiancé distracting me with useless information about nothing.
Sad
Though it is a sad moment, they look so majestic.
Yes, they may live in palaces surrounded by servants but their lives are not their own.
Какой момент....очень частный,но это королевская семья. Дети молятся о маме. Настоящей королеве с большой буквы!!! Всю себя отдала своей стране!!! До последнего вздоха,как и обещала в юности. Великая женщина.!!!
Budeme vzpomínat stále.Kralovnu jsme měli a máme stále rádi
a obdivujeme se jí ⛪🌹🖤🌹⛪
Beautiful ❤️ she's resting now in glory rest in peace your majesty ❤️
May HMTQ, R Elizabeth II, have Eternal Life with her loved ones. May HMTQ’s prayers for her adult children, grandchildren and great-grand children be answered by our loving and faithful God.
God save King Charles III.
Long live the King!!!!!!
It would have been nicer if everyone attending the walk through were dressed in black/dressed in smart clothes. It looked like they were tourists at a museum.
Other than that, I’m proud to be British and am in awe of their duty through their grief.
They honour Her Majesty in formal military wear as a sign of honour and service to the nation and the Crown. The funeral was planned within accordance to tradition and as Her Majesty the Queen instructed.
@@diabolicaldebbie she/they mean the visitor/mourners that comes.. I see a few wears a bright colours..
At least they came to pay respects...
This just goes to prove, that (King)- Charles (The Man) with A broken 💔 - needs our prayers, at this very difficult time for him, and even in days to come. He's not that young anymore. It gets more difficult as we age. and no one is exempt from pain, sorrow, hurt ,brokenness, loss of loved one's, in this very Abrasive World. He was born into this Monarchy.
(The Hand He Was Dealt.) 🎲 Everyone in this 🌎 world has been dealt A hand that we did not ask for, nor signed up for. Some worse than others. But we must fight the best we can, and persevere. Sowing seeds of compassion and mercy along the way.
God is still on the Throne- God is in control.
🙏All praise and glory to God🙏
Shalom ❤
Well said
This is so beautiful Watching from Auckland New Zealand
Anne especially looked heartbroken, a very moving tribute to Her Majesty💔
Farewell my Queen. Her Majesty finally has her children by her side. It must have been incredibly difficult for them not to cry. 👑💐
They all look so very tired. My heart goes out to them.
Hello beautiful how are you doing, hope you are doing well and having a wonderful day and time with your family?
grieving is exhausting not to mention dashing around to listen to proclamations, changing clothes, and walking for miles. I pray they find time to grieve and rest privately. long live the king
The Cathedral so beautifully lit….soft and warm. A life SO well lived. R.I.P HRH
Как же это печально 💔, но очень красиво и торжественно…

I cant bear the thought of the Queen being so lifeless, cold and sealed in a coffin. Sleep the eternal sleep Ma'am

RIP Queen Elizabeth u are the example for all of us women in the world ! Thank you 🙏 🇵🇹🇺🇸
Hello beautiful how are you doing, hope you are doing well and having a wonderful day and time with your family?
Well said. She exemplified what it means to be a lady and sadly it seems that most women today want to be the very opposite of ladylike.
Rest in peace Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. All loves will belong to the Queen.
Rest well my Queen!
One of the most powerful scenes I have ever witnessed.I try to envision , the same profoundly symbolic duties shouldered throughout Britain's history. With Princes ,in their armor & mail.God rest Her Majesty ,Queen Elizabeth II.
I can only add to the comments expressing how incredibly touching this is.
My heart goes out for the family and all gentlemen and gentlewomen of all of the member countries. 🌹
Thanks
Condolence to the royal family , uk and world from yemen ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Just like the Queen herself. Steadfast, stoic and done with love.☘🌷
All four of them lost in their own thoughts. 😥
This reminds me of the vigil by the Queen Mother’s grandsons in 2002.
King charles needs a rest, far to much for any one, two many thing's going on. God save the king.
Always loved to hear the Queen speak. I'm so sad she's gone.
Unmatched in its dignity. Unmatched imperfection of location. Wonderful to see this; all four of her children standing vigil for their mother. This will probably be one of if not my favorite part of this proper farewell to Her Late Majesty.
this is truly amazing!! She did so much for all the people!! Family was always important!
RIP Queen Elizabeth. Losing a parent is hard. I lost mine a couple of years ago. Upon doing my ancestry I discovered Queen Elizabeth was my 14th cousin once removed. King Charles is my 15th. Love from America.
Condolences from New Zealand 🇳🇿 🙏
Rest in Peace Queen Elizabeth 🙏

the family allowed this to be filmed. This is so hard to watch, I feel such empathy for them. I also wish this could have been private for them. 😢
Breaks my heart.
This is so sad....no one can grieve in peace. You wonderful wife, queen, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and dog mom.
I cry with you She was so beautiful ♡
Rest in peace you beautiful soul with Philip.
In gratitude and love / Germany 😭🕯💔🥀🙏🏻

Having to be looked at by people like that whilst you are in the depths of despair over the loss of a deeply loved Mum. I don't know how they did it, I couldn't have. I so feel for them, Princess Anne and Countess Sophie both look utterly shattered.
I adored Queen Elizabeth ll. I am also very happy that Prince Charles is now King Charles lll.
🇺🇲❤👑🇬🇧
I am so glad they returned to stand guard over their Mother, The Queen.
I wondered about it when they left amd all the people left how she would just be there for the next 24 hours or more with only the archer guards.
I was thinking that her children may feel weird leaving her there with no family. Then I see this amd I never expected they would actually come back to be with her. So glad they did.
May she Rest In Peace. Dedicated to Public Service. It even inspired me to create a video about her story on my channel. Thanks for sharing this
Ecstatic crowd replicating an appreciative polity for noble and lifetime of service to the Nation and beyond. We are grateful for a life well spent. Happy and fond thoughts to the ROYALS.😊❤🙏
From Spain 🇪🇦 ,rest in Peace , Queen Elizabeth 🌹
i feel this is so wrong, not to have privacy in such a difficult moment. As if it was a show.... :(
As sad as it looks, it’s tradition called the “Vigil of the Princes”. King George V’s sons Edward VIII, the Duke of York (later George VI), Henry, Duke of Gloucester and George, Duke of Kent - carried out the first such tribute in 1936 for their father, late in the evening on the final night of his lying in state. Also remember how the world went mad at the Queen when Diana died and she initially was not grieving publicly. They can’t do anything without upsetting people.
It must be so hard for her children, they have lost their mother and have o act so stoic in front on tv cameras and they public when as anyone who has lost someone know that grief comes in waves and you just can’t choose when it strikes.
Such a somber and sad sight. No matter what age you are, losing a parent is beyond heartbreaking. Princess Ann, Prince Andrew, Prince Edward and His Majesty, King Charles III, I wish you all the best. God save the King.
Beautiful moment. 🙏💕✨
Did you guys forget to mention Prince Edward? What a touching tribute to their Dear Mother...
Awwwwwww this melted my heart

Muito bonito!
That had to be so hard for them to do. That was their Mother and their Queen but foremostly Mummy. My heart goes out to them
I offer my condolences to the royal family, and that the Lord watch over and comfort all of the family in their time of mourning.
Wow, this is amazing. Very touching.
A well deserved honor, to the Queen.
God save the King. 🙏🙏🙏
Love you all
Emotionally beautiful but must be incredibly difficult to do longstanding with such immense grief compounding no matter how much it is important to do. Just dreadful the iconic Queen has passed but at least peaceful.
May Queen Elizabeth rest in peace. My deepest sympathy to the family.
My heart goes for the Queen's children! So much sorrow in their faces... Princess Anne seems enduring so much pain with her loss. God bring them comfort and rest in peace Your Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. You have honor every word of your speech when you were just 21 years old! You lived a life of duty and dignity! An exemplar life! God bless the Queen!
A beautiful tribute.
