- In this video I look at ways to use creative midi processing to expand your ideas and take them in new directions using Ableton's stock midi effects. I went for an early 00's IDM/electronic vibe of a simple chord progression, bassline, drums and melody and gave them a bit of extra juice to make them more interesting. The best
Truly the Mylard Melodies of Ableton
true, altho those in the know all deeply love him
20:17 is Mindblowing! 🤯
sorry about that
I think his mouth was plugged into the random filter 🙃
"I've remade Analord" Brilliant.
I pre-like your videos before watching them. I’m that confident in the material. Cheers!
Same
Lol
I don't even watch them....I just like them.
Same
Ned your videos are a source of endless enjoyment and education. You’re an underrated comedy genius also
20:15 No edits. No mercy.
But really, super helpful stuff to make... weird good music shit. Now I just need to afford an upgrade from Lite to be able to use half the tools you demo 😅
How the hell does Ned just whip these nuggets out of his beat hole? Always impressed
I was really surprised at how much it started sounded like an Analord bonus track towards the end, and almost as soon as I thought that Ned said the same!
the mad professor putting out some more useful secrets. thanks so much for sharing your deep wisdom.
Love your video's mate!
Effortless. Love it Ned 💥
Fantastic.
Oh, Ned! That was very fun and inspiring! Thank you!
Great as always.
You're such a velocityfreak 😂 i love it
(Joined your discord)
You are a fantastic teacher!
That's great ideas!! Thank you for sharing!!!
This is great!
I love you monotronic intro Ned is that even a word haha
Found this on the Ableton sub! Great stuff!
Thank you Don Ned
Love this video, so cool what you can do with random generation of note. Thanks for doing this, your depth of knowledge really shows. Please do more like this.
This was absolutely the most insightful video I'd watched in 2021 so far. Kudos to you sir
I'm sitting here engrossed watching how this all unfolds into a work of art, and then I swear I heard an ice cream van, but alas no. it was the melody.. Curses!!! I mean I very much enjoyed the video and a big thank you for sharing, but now I want a cornet with a flake and my local Tesco isn't even open yet!!
Excellent use of 'plaintive' here, so apt! Sick as ever.
Man, I just loved the idea of the random midi fx mixed with the probability in the drums, and with the arpeggio in melodies also. Thank you so much, I think you just helped me find the solution for get more motivated to keep going while composing. Basically I get bored of my own loops after a while ...
And in the end I can always comeback to the randomness part capture the midi in a new track and choose and edit the best loops.
Nice Job Ned!
One thing I love about how you tackle the midi effects is that you sort of treat it like a modular setup. Always great fun and informative. Thank you, again, Ned!!!
It's funny you say that.... I got into modular during COVID and I swear the transition was made so much easier from watching Ned's videos for years. (not in terms of synthesis itself but all the insane routing possibilities) It made the open flexibility and mad routing chains easier to handle. Also Ned's old random velocity tricks etc work wonders when sending MIDI to CV. Ned is the hero we all need,
@@MassimoVignelli212 the routing chains is exactly what I’m getting at. It’s a very modular mindset. I love it.
Nice one man
More IDM Mondays please, this is brilliant !
Great results Ned, classy classic vibes in this one.
I didn’t know I did IDM Mondays.
@@NedRush Well you did one 😂
Lovely video and concepts! With the random melody/notes generation I like adding a max 4 live lfo mapped to change the rate of the arpeggiator and to the random chance rate. This way you get flurries of fast notes and slow notes with large gaps in between as well as a change in how much the notes change. This is perfect for when you want things even more organically and less repetitive. In fact this makes me want to make a video about it just to see what that sounds like haha 😆
You are a real Ableton wizard!
You absolute diamond
a rabbit hole brought me here, now thinking should i watch just one more.....
U made my day good sir
This mans is the cyborg bob ross of Ableton and I am here for every minute of it
