Love the humor you try to bring to your job at the first location as you’re wheeling out the first dumpster. “COMING THROUGH! COMING THROUGH!” Not sure why I found myself laughing at this.
My dad drove a front end loader back in the 80's I use to ride with him on the weekends ,back then these trucks where manuals and had 3 joysticks and no cameras as a kid back then I use to get excited every time he would lift the dumpster up and hear that little bang up top.
Pretty interesting... I always wondered if you guys could see the dumping into the compactor. Also, I'm in the Chicago area... I've never seen rubber dumpsters before. I'm a cleaning guy by trade, so I see many more garbage areas then the average person. 😀 Lastly... really cool in the beginning of the video that you hoped everyone was hurt from the fire. Many people just don't care nowadays... so real nice to see a good attitude!!!
Here in Switzerland some of the more established businesses have self-compacting roll-off containers. You put a week or month worth of trash in it and when it's full, waste management gets a notification and picks it up. Also works with cardboard that goes to recycling yards. Smaller businesses or apartment blocks use smaller wheeled bins (800l) and they are emptied by rear loaded compactors. These frontloaders can make a mess if you pick up overloaded bins. The forks are pretty dangerous too, no way this would be allowed in public traffic here. The truck uses lots of space to manoeuvre, part of it going backwards, which should not be routine for any public service vehicle.
How do i get in a company without any experience? Im an over the toad truck driver 12 years experience and would like to transition into a trash truck driver. I live in los Angeles, CA
Front loader is something we don't have in GB I don't think it's a good idea as if the driver is on his own he has to keep getting in and out of the cab to move bins. His truck engine seems to be revving to fast when he's not lifting any bins it must use lots of fuel.
The truck he was in had an Allison Automatic transmission. How it works is you push a button, and it goes into gear. The other common gearing are automatic with a gear shift like in a normal car, or a shifter in the side of the steering column (think like the stick for turn signals but on the right side and you twist the end to go into the different gears, in that one it only has Drive Neutral and Reverse, but really useful if you have a ton of stops.
I always carried renter's insurance because you're at the mercy of all the morons that live around you. Just a tip: Next time, don't kill the camera until you show the completed job inside the room of dumpsters, I would love to see that mess all cleaned up.
My hat off to these unsung heroes
This has to be one of my favorite videos you have posted
I used to do this retired now 35 years 😁

For most collection companies they do require one for certain positions
In most cases if you a GED it'll be fine
