Same thing for me man! Started doing a daily vlog 50 days ago, the first of the new year, and it has been a commitment to discipline and creation and I’m loving it. thanks so much for the inspiration.

    The process is the art.
In an interview with Lifehacker Brad Isaac describes being a young comedian starting out on the comedy circuit. One night he was in a club with Jerry Seinfeld and after the set Isaac asked Seinfeld if he had “any tips for a young comic.”
Here's how Isaac described the interaction with Seinfeld…
H"e said the way to be a better comic was to create better jokes and the way to create better jokes was to write every day.
He told me to get a big wall calendar that has a whole year on one page and hang it on a prominent wall. The next step was to get a big red magic marker. He said for each day that I do my task of writing, I get to put a big red X over that day.
“After a few days you'll have a chain. Just keep at it and the chain will grow longer every day. You'll like seeing that chain, especially when you get a few weeks under your belt. Your only job is to not break the chain.”"
You'll notice that Seinfeld didn't say a single thing about results.

Commit first, figure the rest out later. Wise words from Grant Cardone. Glad you don't edit out the silly mistakes. They're hilarious.

I find that I am looking for that new video notification from you MORE than calls from my kids! Content has been great, funny and simple (thank you!). My guilty pleasure/daily lift.

Being okay with mediocre sometimes is better than losing momentum. Results can change dramatically when you do just this one thing!

That’s it! As Jim Rohn says: small daily disciplines bring you great results. It’s amazing the compound effect of a daily practice. keep up the good work Derek!

story of my life. full of ideas, and never taking action. trying to change that this year.

I LOVE this. Action is the antidote for fear... or something like that. I've noticed that the more I think about things the less I actually do things for my business. Great video dude.

I think we're all guilty, at times, of living with ideas in our heads and not taking any action on them. A great reminder. Your idea of committing to a schedule and routine is also useful.

Yeah it's weird. I feel that committing to doing something to "please" an audience could put pressure on me. On the other hand if I frame it as an exercise for myself, that increases the chances of execution.

That's so inspiring. The more I study successfull people, entrepeneurs or not, I see that small daily improvements are the real secret to becoming an ace at whatever you do. It's funny because it kinda starts as a selfish reason (to improve oneself) and it makes you better at serving your audience. Everybody benefits from it.

I learned this doing Inktober last year, where I had to draw every single day. It was a great experience.

Committing to content creation schedule is tough. I haven't been able to do it. I start out hot, but then fall off.
I do have ideas that I do not commit to daily. Or I just haven't done it at all. You're right. Even just the exercise of doing something daily will grow ability and quality. The trick is to pick one thing to focus on. When I try to figure out which would be the best thing I start to feel overwhelmed because I think 5 things should be done :-[ Time to reassess my situation, prioritize and move!

Love the commitment to learn by doing. What a great way to get better at doing something quickly, too! Thanks for getting out of your head and sharing the learning curve. I'm enjoying learning right along with you!

A daily video about daily videos. It's like creating a course about courses, or lead magnet about making lead magnets. This is all very inception-y Derek and I like it. Getting a daily video from you every day allows me to understand a bit more about what's going on in your world which helps with know, like, and trust factor...and yes the best way to become a master of something might as well get THOUSANDS Of hours of experience in it! Way to work on your mastery!

Derek, you are right. I have been doing something on my blogs, every day the last eight months. Writing, research, study... One thing you need to look at is the resistance from the world. You mentioned your coffee shop story a few times... "Anyone here has a job???" Other versions are "Why is he staring at the computer for hours?" , "You are crazy if you think you will make money this way". There is a certain rejection from the world about blogging. That is the other side of the story.

hey you guys should start putting the end screen videos on your daily videos. I see the spot at the end where the subscription one should go and a recommended video should go but you aren't putting them in there. I think they would help. I would have clicked on them.
