I am going to read Switch tmrw. Thanks so much for this advice Derek. You're a great speaker, eloquent, to the point. Keep those vids coming.
Thanks for this book suggestion, Derek! I've read Make It Stick and it has got to be one of my top 5 favorite books, so any mention of the Heath brothers immediately grabs my attention.
I'm an online yoga teacher, most of my viewers are 35-44 year old women who want to practice yoga, however on my secondary channel where I answer yoga questions, my bright spots are people with constipation and people who stand all day. I talk to a lot of those people over there. Maybe some of them come and do yoga with me, not entirely sure. Love your videos thank you so much. I already filmed a behind the scenes and I am working on a demo. With gratitude, Melissa
lol! totally hilarious! I think that is why those videos are so popular, it is something people are uncomfortable to talk about in the "light" of day. However, I don't mind talking about it :) But you are right about my comment being funny :)
Exactly what you said - Bright spots can be useful in analyzing data - Analytics instead of looking for broad patterns
Bright spot is that I teach toddlers yoga in libraries (Reading Comes Alive With Yoga) where parents get classes free and the library pays me. I use the mindfulness based intervention tools to direct and redirect the children. When parents are looking for ways to redirect their children *without yelling* and with friendliness, they accept my invitation to learn to make and use their own tools. The flippin' signs, the Time Machine for do-overs, and many more. Makes a real difference in fun and friendliness in family routines. I am their bright spot.
Happy New Year, Derek!
Another killer video! I'm learning a ton over here.

I've added that book to my list. Thanks Derek!
I'm changing the company I work for right now, getting it ready for franchise, it isn't easy but it can be done.
Thank you so much for making this video Derek. I needed it today the most.
Thank you :))
Bro where you at?? Long-time no new vids!!
Love this and will be buying that book. It helped you and maybe it will help me too.
I was a typist for many years and always had done two spaces. Took me a long time NOT to do that. But good Lord when I teach I have been know to say “carriage return.” 😳
I’ll have to give some thought to finding bright spots. I have niched myself pretty tightly so not quite sure what this means for me.
Ohh I haven't read Switch but I LOVED Made to Stick. Thanks for the reco
That's a good question - how am I going to use the bright spots. I'll have to cogitate on that and get back to you.
Miss your videos. You ever coming back ??
I literally had that same conversation years ago with someone about 2 spaces versus 1 space after a period. 🤯🤣
Beautiful video Derek
I think I could the bright spots idea to motivate my students.
Thank you Derek
Great advice!!!
Fantastic book! I'd recommend checking out Disrupt You by Jay Samit if you liked that one
Still trying to assess my bright spots.
PS 1. Love your hair (you should tip your hairdresser LOADS)
PS 2. As a grammar nazi, I hate being told when I write stuff wrong...
PS 3. I have bad eyesight too (contacts are my life) I will never be seen in public wearing specs.
PS 4. I am so distracted by your hairy arms (not a bad thing, don't feel bad!) You should be motivated to create a channel about your arm hair :P
DeeDee Creative and yet as a grammar nazi you probably love to tell others when they are wrong. lol irony
Of course :)
I am learning how to leave periods out of texts and spell words wrong for simplicity. Signed, A fellow grammar nazi
Best video ever
HI DEREK. Big fan. Since hair dresser got your interest, you might have in interest in this. I'm the owner of a property maintenance company in London UK. Powerpillar LTD. I run the business and do the jobs all by myself. On the outside people think it's a very big company. I'm having problems of getting more clients and afraid of hiring because I may not have enough jobs for them. I really want to grow. Help.....
