I've been fishing for over 20 years but still find myself watching your videos 😂 the fact that you guys back up your tutorials with epic catches is the best thing about you in my opinion
I fell in love with pike fishing using twisters when I was kid. To this day, it's still my favorite technique of catching fish. Thank you for sharing your precious knowledge with us!
The unhooking part of this guide was the best I've seen. You included everything you needed to know even for when the hook's too deep to retrieve. I don't think I've seen anyone cover that part before. 👏👏🎣
I'm from Florida, USA, and although we do not have pike, the dead bait technique shown here is also works REALLY WELL for catching gar, which are basically the equivalent of pike, as they share many characteristics, such as long jaws, sharp teeth, etc. Thanks for the awesome video!
Rod/reel combo with fishing kit as an emergency setup ruclips.net/user/postUgkxntWMOZsO1Zfv-pdn_XuffEtNkTYAYu4Z recommend but started to use this every day. The rod is thick and seems durable. I keep it neatly tucked into a regular backpack all the time with my fishing gear, and can grab it anytime, put it on my back and go anywhere. I just read in another review that the rod length below the reel is adjustable as well, so I will try that too for even more portability. Probably the best setup I've ever owned. I lost the cap for the eyelets, but no big deal since I still have the black cloth sheath that came for the pole and I use that. Very portable and high quality.
Thanks guys, great tutorial. On the subject of deep hooked pike, I'd rather strike early and maybe then miss it rather than striking late and getting a deep hooked pike.
I fish artificials only, and troll from a boat a lot, so that is no problem for yours truly. American musky shops sell quick strike rigs that are set up for that purpose for those who use live or dead bait.
I am 15 and started with fishing 2 years ago and your tutorials helped me catch some big carp bud I have been interested in catching pike for some time so I am definitely going to try your tips and thanks for getting me into this great hobby
Thanks for this tutorial, one, if not the best I have seen for me, ignorant rather than a beginner! Very useful information presented in a visually accessible way
Getting my own stuff slowly recently to start fishing by myself, tons of information that overloads my brain but you make very informative yet simple videos. I love the idea of spinning, throwing lures out and catching something that way but there's so many different options out there that I don't know what to choose from as I'd like to fish for pike and trout
These tutorials I've said it before, but it's always worth saying it again, are fantastic thanks to the knowledge, I've gained from watching you both, last Sunday I caught my PB pike of 17lb on the nose from the river Chelmer thanks to both of you 😉 keep up the grest work 🤟😎🤟

New fisherman here, getting ready to consider some pike fishing. This video was amazing, especially for the education on the hold and keeping the health of the fish in mind. Thank you!
A few tips I do like to give: • Use a proper leader • Get yourself good/long pliers, one for unhooking and one for cutting hooks (not the one you cut wires with). • A decent size rubber net (you dont want to lose your first meter pike☻) the rubber prevents your hook from getting stuck and also the pikes teeth. Lastly a landing mat if you want. This is optional in most places. (Not where I'm from) Goodluck, they are strong fighters and beautiful fish.
@@Mech.E Did pick up a rubberized net a few days ago! Lost a pike and my spinner bait, figured I should get one. Have caught about 6 pike since! Biggest at about 22inches, so far.
Cracking video on all you need to know for a lads pike fishing trip. Off to Loch Ken this Friday coming for 4 days pike and perch fishing. Will definitely be sharing your vid with my mates before we go. Thanks for the tutorial.......brilliant!!
Excellent video again guys! Thanks for all your hard work bringing us these videos. I’m considering taking up pike fishing, as I’ve only ever caught 1 jack pike by accident many years ago… 😂
Thanks, really good tutorial. I have fished for many years, but always for trouts, salmon. This sommer i travel to sweden to pikefishing. Sent you some pics if I get lucky.😉
thanks soooo much for making this video it helps a lot i just started fishing and a havent caught enything i didnt know what to do. im targeting pike and marbel in river drava in slovenija but it looks like the river is dead. good video.
This is not a joke : a guy went fishing in our lake in austria cause we live there :) and it was rhe first day it was legal to catch pike and ge got a strike while trolling....after the measuring the fish had a length of 141cm. It may sound like trash but you can check out our lake! I love your videos and they are very nice to watch because during i watch them im glad to go fishing!! Greatings from Austria!!!
Great help, ive been wanting to try a bit of pike fishing for a while but ive been worried about trying to un hook them treble hooks but I feel alot more confident after watching this! Great job 👏 👍
There's a type of disgorger for trebles that work on trace wire specifically for deep hooked pike, I got one online for about £6, they are awesome for deep hooked pike. Worth spending a few quid to protect the fish
You are correct in Canada like Quebec trois riviere or Montreal where I'm at massive Pike and Maske are plentiful. My best was a 42 inch maske and a 20 inch pike. The same river also holds very nice sized walley perch and Bass. Massive catfish and so many other species. Never seen 1 Trout figured it because we have so many predator fish. They only get bigger when you go up north a tad incredible fishing here. You need very good gear as these fish are very aggressive. Never tried a float cast for these fish always casting. I'll try some of your techniques. Great video
This is another great vid guys! I used the float setup described in the video to catch my first pike, except I used a circle hook instead of the trebles! Thanks!
Very well put together video. Thanks so much for the info! going to try this out in Alaska, both with your lure and dead bait fishing. Again I appreciate the video!

Great tutorial pal I’m hoping to try some winter fishing so I’ll deffo be taking some tips from this thanks again take it easy n tight lines ✌🏼💙🎣🏴👍🏼
My tip for catching pike with dead/life bait is using one circle hook. After the bite, just reel in real hard (without striking) and the fish gets almost always hooked into the lip. There are some YT videos about this too. Otherwise, perfect video guys, I fish since childhood and I always learn something new from you
@@fishingtutorials That's great news! I remember hearing a quote somewhere saying, "There's no such thing as a bad fish - only a bad cook!" I can't wait to get started :D There's no size or catch limit for northern pike (among other other invasive species) here in Maine, so it might be worth a visit if you plan to fish abroad some time soon :)
In Maine? Interesting, I'd have never guessed. I know they're native to the St. Lawrence, which is reportedly one of the prime US pike fisheries. So this must be the Atlantic basin on the other side of the mountains, correct? bet you have some big ones, what with the cool water. They rarely get very big in the Detroit, MI area, where I live, due to the hot summers. Pike longer than 3ft are rare, but 30 inch fish are very common in the Detroit River and Lake St. Clair. But we also have muskies.
Caught a baby pike today while finishing with my dad and uncle and I got so excited. I got so excited because I've never caught one before and my uncle is talking about maybe taking me to catch an actual pike!
Good tutorial. I use a big net or lip grip and unhook the fish in the water or a my 5ft musky/pike live well whenever possible, and mash down the barbs. A difficult situation is when they are hooked on both lips with one treble, so it's not possible to open the mouth. Then I cut the hook on the side that has one point. My experience has been many times more fish are lost due to throwing the hook or tearing out than poor hooksets, especially when trolling, so I use mono on the business end {about 10ft (3m) for casting, and 20ft (7m) for trolling} and a mono leader (trace), for which I've yet to be bitten off using 30lb (~15kg) test. I also fish artificial lures only for pike and other predators, so I have yet to gut hook one.
Great program , I've always wondered about using fresh bait . Mackerel, yeah that would get their attention. Think I'll try some fresh shrimp also. I can get both at my local Asian market. Our bait store closed several yrs. ago, retirement wouldn't you know.
doing abit of pike fishing today myself, there teeth always put me off though because not experienced in holding them... gonna give it a go today if i catch haha fingers crossed and tight lines lads
Thank you very much it is awesome but can you please tell me how did the knot you were using at the first hook at float fishing didn't untie? Or does it just stay on it's place even if it is not tied?
What we do here, allowed to use love bait, is buy shiners and take a small number six hook and tie up an 18" 17 pound fluorocarbon leader to a three way swivel, we then tie another 18" 10 pound line to the bottom side of the three way then to the other side of that tie a snap swivel and attach a desired weight, usually in the slack waters we fish I use a 8 ounce weight or bigger. Then tie the rig to the main line hook your love bait behind the dorsal fin and drop the line in the water reel the line tight until the pole is loaded a bit and hang a bell. The big weight sets the hook for you if your back is turned while your casting. You hear the bell just pick the pole straight up in the air high, no samurai hook set a shuttle pick up high and reeling. Fish on. So many tactics love it
