I have just started fishing this summer, I started with one rod, and catched pretty small fish. Now, with your tutorials help i have bought more equipment, More rods, and I cached fish as big as 5 kilograms. I jsut wanted to thank you for the help. ❤ (Sorry for any grammar mistakes)
Oh mate same. I watched his carp fishing tutorial so I brought his set up with the rigs and I brought myself a decent rod and reel. Went with a camping chair and a lunch box as my tackle box (whick only had the rest of my fishing wire in it 😂) and all I caught was very small roach, a lot of them. In the process of getting more gear and learning a bit more. I might have gone to the wrong lake to catch a carp the first time. So wish me luck on my second adventure 😂
I started fishing a few weeks back and finally, today, i caught my first carp among 7 others and i couldn't of done it without the help of this channel so i will say it again, thank you for all the effort you put into these videos genuinley giving top pieces of knowledge that actually work and help fellow angler's. Keep up the good work 😊
I was fishing the other day at my local dam and caught nothing! I watched your video and set up a hair rig. I caught 4 specimen carp which I was stoked by! Thank you for your videos and keep up with the amazing effort you put into you're videos! 🙌
Don't worry too much about rigs guys I've fished for nearly 40 years and the basic bottom bait and pop up rig have bagged me thousands of carp and plenty of biggies. Concern your self more with finding the fish even if it takes hours to find them 👌
I still use a basic hair rig had fish to 52lb and plenty of 40's on It the only thing I've changed over the years is using a coated braid with a stripped back section just to kick it away from the lead and while we're size 8 wide gapes has been the one 😂
I only do instant fishing so Chod Rig is my standard go to setup. I love it's simplicty and you are almost always guarenteed a good presentation even when it's weedy.
I love your videos awesome detail straight to the point 😊 I been taking my children to carp lakes and they love it and I've been catching on your rigs that you posted👍
Hello from Texas, life long game fish fisherman but just discovering carp fishing for the first time! They are more difficult to catch than any game fish i ever gone after. Great RUclips channel 👍
As a new-ish fisherman, I’ve got most of the basic gear for float fishing now and typically catching 4-8lb carp (very happy). I do want to venture onto bigger lakes - but I don’t think my equipment will be sufficient. Are you guys looking to do a video on what to look out for with rods and reels, because it’s hard to find useful information on what to look out for..
Hi Carl, great rig tutorial. Love free lining and stalking big carp in the late summer months , is such a rush when that lump of crusty bread gets sucked in. My new mat came the in the post , thank you so much.
I've never used zigs, normally I opt for a big heavy self weighted pellet waggler in those situations, works with hair rig and carp self hook providing the waggler is heavy enough and hook is sharp, I chuck it out and pop it on the bite alarm, but it works best with a big worm straight on the hook rather than hair rig.
New to your channel! Also new to carp fishing! Love your channel! Learning so much from you, so thank you! Please just keep them coming! Please could you maybe do a video if you haven’t already done one on what rod and reels you think are a good set up for a beginner. All my rods and reels are different from each other and I want to get them to be all the same as it’s driving me mad 😂
My mother caught some trout on Wisconsin Cheddar Cheese left over from lunch when we were camping in Colorado one time. My father and I had baits we were using and were proud of the three fish we got. When we showed up back at camp she had already cleaned her five fish
I have your book, Simple Fishing Guidebook, which is very informative, but I am finding it hard to learn how to tie knots and to use various items like Swivels, and all the different attachments to fix things to my line. Do you intend to publish a book purely on how to tie and use such things, or have you already published one. I found loads on this RUclips of yours but can’t be watching my iPad while fishing. I need a book where everything is in one place such as this brilliant book of yours. Thankyou.
Thanks Justin! Ahh glad you enjoy them mate! I'm pretty single-minded which probably contributed, and have been obsessed with one thing only for almost 20 years which seems pretty mad thinking about it!
When fisheries say no fixed rigs does that prevent you from using method feeders and other such feeders ? Or is it how you tie the rig that they are referring to ?
Hi I was just wondering if there was a way to pre tie a pva bag because of a night when I catch I always seem to take ages to tie one and feel like a miss a lot of potential bites when they’re crashing out over my spot when i could just tie a ready made one on and be ready to cast it out pretty much straight away. Thanks James,
Hello Carl, I have never used a Chod Rig before. If I was to use it, once casted out, do you wind back to keep a tight line, or would that mean the pop up would always go too high, so should the line be slack? I’m a total novice so please forgive me if this should be an obvious answer. Thank you.
Would you recommend chod rigs for areas with light current? This time of year we have a ton of weeds and I'm not convinced that normal hair rigs are the right choice anymore
Great video Carl, I'm off to Newdigate Lake for a winter Carp, first proper Carp trip fir 12 years, but witch lake, Thorp or center hmmm, but I have been planning this for over a week, any tips, I'm going to use a pop up on.one rid, and a 16mm tuna pellet on the other.
Great tips bro, here in India we have mostly Labio Rohita which locally known with the name Rohu fish and another carp is Catla fish. So would this setup work on this fish. And how we can keep our popup rig on mid surface where lake is deep more than 25 feet and underneath it has very weedy bottom. So plz tell me bro ❤ from India
How's the carp fly fishing scene in the UK? I've noticed there have been successful carp fly fishermen on RUclips dragging flies. Maybe the next trend will be lure fishing for carp. There's been some success on topwater artificial bugs. Waiting for the next fishing trend 😅.
Hi i bought a fishing rod for carp on a smaler lake . Its not tiny but its not massiv . The rod has almost no bend and even when i have my 112g weight on it it only bends a bit. Is that bad . They laght aufter my rod and i was feeling bad . They sad 112 g is way to my and my rod that dont bend is cheap . Is it bad if i dont bend
Ideally a rod will bend to help with casting and landing fish. A stiff rod will be good for casting far, with heavy weights or reeling in heavy fish! You might find small fish come off the hook a bit if the rod doesn't bend to absorb the lunges during the fight though!
finding carp in rivers and streams can be a bit more challenging but is possible :) Look for slower moving water as carp prefer this, deep slow stretches, back channels and slack areas are good :) Find areas with over hanging/ fallen trees, weeds and lily pads as they could hold fish. It's good to know that not all rivers have a population of carp so it's always good to see if you can find out if anyone has ever caught them from the river/stream you're interested in. That said it's fun to have a go anyway if you notice the rivers has ideal carpy areas because you never know!

Just don’t use any of it! I don’t waste money on such products :) just get some corn and pellets or perhaps some boilies if there’s lots of small fish around. :)

Ahh nice! We started the Fishing Tutorials channel a couple of years ago :) we wanted to make as many tutorials as we could to help people with their fishing.
I'm sorry but you are making this just way more difficult than it needs to be. How about the very simple running technique with the main line with a running ball sinker ( weight ) on it attached to a swivel. From there a trace line ( about 15 to 30 Cm ) with the circle hook. Whatever bait you decide to use goes on , you cast, let it sink and retrieve line allowing some slack for the fish to run and set the circle hook. Different places same rig " Simples "
Great video much needed.wot small 8tt fish rod would you recommend for just a get up and go fish a small area.i have seen u using a orange looking rod .🎣🦦

@AdamVest look for showing fish, coloured water, any weed? Look for channels within the weed. Feature find in a boat.

@@georgep8150 same never used it but i think it works great
Does making a chod rig, but replacing the D-rig with a pop up by a hair rig made with braided line with a boilies good to fish in weed?
Free lining is my main way off fishing throughout spring and summer mid autumn and winter i switch to using bottom rigs
Nice!
New to carp fishing, seems weird that they are caught on a bare hook. Do they just inhale the boilie and some of the line too?
