Moon square Pluto in the natal chart can be harrowing. Extreme, early childhood experiences creating a suppressed self identity. It can lead to PTSD in adult life. Only healed through facing the fear, and having the courage, or perhaps no other choice, to enter the Underworld...often dragged through it screaming until...the soul experiences an alchemy of Self and lets go of the suffering, finally free of the Karma.
My mother has Pluto conj Mercury, with Pluto exactly inconjunct Moon, which is in turn opp her Sun. Shame, guilt and the resulting self-torture are part of her everyday life. I used to think she was 'just' hysterical and hypochondriac until I learnt some astrology and looked at her chart, which is stuffed full of challenges. Poor woman, is all I can say.
