- Maiden flight of the Hughes MD 500E from Rotorscale!! I had a very bad wobble which wasn't the tail, it flew OK and looked stunning but as the morning progressed I just couldn't get rid of the bobble of the tail!! I think there must be a bent shaft or an out of balance gear which was causing a very strange vibration.
Looks as good as we hoped Ian and as others have said the sound is amazing, wobble detective is now on the case 👍

Lol it was flying well but had that horrible jelly on a plate wobble on take off and landing😖
@@IansRCExploits if i handed you a heli and said 'here, fly this' you'd say 'wtf' land it immediately when you saw how horrendously setup it is ha ha.
i am so lazy and enough to get something airborne is all it gets lol
The foamboard cubs are the only thing ive put any effort into as ive modified things further on every new one i build and they now share just the outside fuse outline with the original plans, internally they are totally different and i dont fly on the stock wing but i still fly those on really out of balance props :D

Hi Ian .... what a fantastic scale heli .... really love it ... looks and sounds wonderful ..... I know you will tune the wobble out .... Just look so real in the sky .... ... I think that is a big success and something you can play with ... Well done Ian .... you are a heli master builder!!

I think it was due to my head speed being a bit low!! It got a bit better in later flight, thanks for watching and commenting 😄👍

It flys nicely and sounds great Ian, check the main shaft is true, Im sure you know that the Trex clones can be a bit hit and miss, my first build was an Hk450gt, it was a learning experience, I got it sorted out with many modifications, but its night and day compared to the Align kits. Keep us posted on what you find with this one, keep well.

Will you fly the Blade 330 s again next time? I saw that you had it with you! I fly myself with the RTF version of the Blade 330S. (I have seen your problems with Blade 330S)

Ian i would try adjusting the gain on flybarless system and tail gyro, and also check the balance of blades and also make sure the pitch of blades are identical through the range of positive and negative pitch ? I would deffo start with Flybarless gain settings though cos it looked like it was over correcting, kinda like when your tail gyro does the wobbles due to gain being too high ? Thanks Wes, I reduced the cyclic Gyro gain in my transmitter!! But next time I fly I will also reduce the main gain pot on the controller, the blades were balanced and were set with 0 degrees at half stick!! But the problem is that it being a Trex 450 Clone!! Gartt I think it had quite a bit of play in the head and Blade grips which I don't think helps the matter, I did raise the head speed later on and it flew better but like you I think the cyclic gain was to high😄👍🚁
@@IansRCExploits oh right i see mate. I have had align trex clones in the past, and in my personal experience the Gartt ones were probably the best or one of the best clones in terms of quality etc ? My Hobbyking Clones were pretty awful tbh! The materials were awful quality and the general fit and finish was poor! But when just starting out with my very first Heli, the price of Hobbyking trex clone kits and electrics were a massive help! Also, owning the poor quality HK kit made me really notice and appreciate the high quality of my subsequent upgrade when i bought my first genuine Align Trex 500E! My goodness the way that thing flew, it was like it was flying on rails!!?? Especially the tail gyro!! I would test it's quality/effectiveness by hovering Heli still in the air, then giving it full left or right rudder and rotating the Heli 2-3 times full 360 degree circle then just letting go of rudder stick and the Heli/tail would literally stop instantly!! It was so so precise and reliable!! Amazing difference in quality!! But Gartt are much higher quality than my Hobbyking clones, in my personal experience Ian!? ( so sorry for such long message mate! I get a little carried away sometimes!?? lol ) Wes.

@@IansRCExploits ! Gartt I think it had quite a bit of play in the head and Blade grips which I don't think helps the matter, Just got the yellow AS350. That rotor head is garbage. Mine had lots of radial slop and the blades really drooped. I replaced it as well as the swashplate with Tarots. Have not flown it yet but to me it is not air worthy with that Gartt head. You need to replace it and the swash and try again. Aside from that a beautiful looking heli, I might get that one next. I hope you figure it out.
Well I replaced the swash,main gear, main shaft and the feathering shaft and it was just as bad!! So I put my Trex 450 into the fuselage and it's now great!! I'm shocked at MotionRC their stuff is normally very good😖

The wobble?
No, I never was able to get rid of that wobble!! I think it's caused by the weight of the fuselage or the rotor disc being a bit too small, a bit of a head scratcher, to be honest 🤔 thanks for watching and commenting 😀👍
