That was precious. I have one just like her (he’s a male though) named Snickers. I got him off the street via a friend after he’d been running wild for a couple of years. Took him a month or two but he calmed down so nicely and is a sweet, loving and gentle boy and is now age 12. Ten years of joy so far! All the best to you and Neon in your life journey.
I love foster fails, because knowing that this being comes into your life and you are responsible for taking care of them. Over time you fall in love with them then it comes to a "okay do I send them to their forever family or can I afford to keep them?". I'm so happy for this foster fail 😭 💓

For all the days you have neon, you will never know a purer form of love and acceptance because humans cannot or will not provide the unconditional love of a pet, especially a rescue baby. So happy Neon found her forever family/ home, they all deserve such.

my husband was a Foster Failure multiple times over, I just couldn't stop him from adding to our collection. He was friends with Patty Alexander from Austin Pets Alive and volunteered in San Antonio with PASS. He passed Thanksgiving Day last year. The furbabies he saved are my most cherished possessions he left me

its probably because he's so busy filming and travelling, having a dog wouldn't fit his lifestyle and wouldn't be fair to the dog. I'm actually glad he recognized this and didn't get a dog until he was ready for it

That's the wonderful thing about pets. They take you out of yourself and the pet becomes a priority. Least with me my pet's needs become mine. The only problem with pets is when they pass. It's so hard to deal with. My two cats I got as kittens helped me get over the grief when my 3rd cat passed on my lap. We had 19 years together.

I lost my beautiful 27yr old daughter charley to breast cancer on 11/23/19...an then her father was hit an killed by a drunk driver on 6/15/21. An if it were not for my late daughters 2 handsome rescue beagles an my 2 cats I would not have lived thru such severe heartbreak. My late daughter was such a good doggie mama. Now I care for them. They keep me going every min of everyday. An my cats are my lil heroes an Angel's too. My one cat sam sam walked in my home almost exactly 10hrs after she passed away. She never leaves my side. I'm amazed by people who never had a pet before. As a kid I had gold fish, two red slider turtles, my brother had a lizard, and mom had her second canary. Then we had no pets until when I was in Jr. high my brother came home with a dog everyone else had to take care of. As an adult I've had Guinea pigs, goldfish, a rabbit, a dog for 16 years before her passing, my 3rd cat for 19 years before his passing and have two cats now. I can't function without a pet as an adult.
Sometimes when you aren't mentally or physically capable of properly taking care of an animal, it's the responsible thing to not own one and some of us can recognize that.

Then when I finally got one as an adult, with dog book care, discovered it was a lot harder. Had her for 16 of the most amazing years. Cat books helped but having a cat was different. I was hooked. I've seen videos where pet owners tease their animals. Like blocking hallways with seran wrap and thinking it funny the cat or dog's confusion. Or bothering them when sleeping, or letting their toddler jump on their dog like they're furniture. Guess they didn't recognize that the responsible thing was not to do it but they still owned an animal. I'm talking about kids who want pets and will take care of them who weren't given a chance and then took on pets as an adult. It's a learning experience.
