    As a manicurist myself I would say, please schedule your removal/repainting in time. Girl, you are not looking cute or elegant after 3 weeks growth, even if your nail polish is intact. Nails grow. If you don't have time or money to expend in nails, make sure at least you take care of your nails at home. Some cuticule triming, hand cream, oils, can do wonders. Also, keep your nails healthy by having good eating habits, dont chip off your nail polish yourself, its going to damage your nails.

    I think it’s important the manicure looks clean and well maintained, it’s one of those details that no one pays attention when it looks good but it stands out a lot when it doesn’t - broken nails, different length nails, chipped or poorly applied polish... before my last job interview i was doing my nails and told my partner no I way am I going there shaking hands with the HR with unkept manicure or chipped polish. Agreed. And this is why I actually almost never paint my nails. I know that I'm not capable of keeping them maintianed properly, and things such as chipped polish just really look so bad.
      Since I know I can't maintain them, I just hardly even do them. A bare nail is better than chipped polish.
      What I do to keep them looking nice is simply to keep them cut fairly short, and filed neatly and nicely in shape. Then I just use a good hand cream, and sometimes some nail oil, so that they stay healthy looking, without any ragged cutitles, etc.
      This is super-duper easy to maintain, and I think a bare nail looks pretty and elegant when it's properly taken care of.

      Shellac or gel doesn’t damage nail beds if you know how to remove them probably. Don’t soak you nail in acetone. True. Or you can just leave your nails bare, and take care of them. I keep them bare most of the time, like 99 percent of the time. I keep the nicely cut and filed into a neat, short oval. Then I just make sure to keep my hands well moisteriuzed, and somtimes also use a nail oil or cuticle oil, so my nails have that little bit of sheen, and so that I don't have ragged/peeling cuticles (which happens easily where I live, in winter, cause our long cold winters here on the Canadian prairies really dry out your hands/nails).
      I mean, I do very much like a clear polish, like you mentioned. It's just that I often feel like a good nail/cuticle oil gives them that bit of shine, without me having to bother with any polish at all.
      I do love things such as a classic red nail, it's just I know I don't have the time to keep them up, and a bare (but well-cared for) nail is better than chipped red polish.

It lasts very well (use the gel couture nail polish color of choice AND absolutely use the gel couture top coat, don’t forget to seal the tip). I do my nails every 7-10 days, not because it chips but because you can see the nail plate that has grown (which does not look elegant). I use my nails a lot and it (almost) never chips. I find "baby boomers" to be a nice alternative to the French manicure. They are similar to the French but it's more of an ombre instead of a line. In my opinion, it looks more natural and if you miss a nail appointment, it's okay because there is no obvious line of demarcation showing.

    I have risolved my nail issues with acrylic nails and never want to go back again. I finally found someone who really does a great job without ruining or damaging my nails. I go there every 4 weeks with red and every 5 weeks with a natural color. I can do anything - washing dishes, doing gardening, playing with animals, even moving- and my nails stay on without chipping maintaining their shiny color. It’s amazing.
    It takes 2 hours but it’s much easier to find 2 hours of time every 5 weeks that to do them myself every 3 days at home.

    My dermatologist thought me not to push the cuticles back. See it as the kit seal around your tub. It protects the nail from water. I also don't use polish anymore, only a good cream every night. And my nails are the most strong, healthy looking natural short to mid-length nails. Which I think is still the most elegant. They naturally look like a french manicure. I just cut them every 2 weeks or so. Also sunscreen every day, to protect your hands from aging.

    For anybody struggling with stopping biting their nails, I'd suggest going with a bolder colour to help you break the habit faster. Also dedicate time to painting and caring for your nails, it really adds an extra incentive to growing your nails and breaking the habit when you've put in a load of hard work to make them look as good as they can.
    Sincerely, my stubby 2 month old nails and I

    Personally, I don't think dark colours (like dark green, purple, or navy blue) look tacky and it's just overall most important to not keep your fingernails dirty or too long. What's also important to make your hands look good is to moisturize! Especially now in the winter!

    • @nowa1277
      @nowa1277 3 года назад +9

      That really depends on the skin color. I feel like darker skin and darker nail colors are an amazing elegant match. Maybe not so much when you're pale as it can only accentuate that contrast and sometimes it's just not good.

    • @kathyalex778
      @kathyalex778 3 года назад +4

      @@nowa1277 I see what you mean, but then plum, burgundy, and dark reds by that logic would not look good on light skin either when I think that they do. When choosing a non-traditional nail color, in my opinion, it's best to at least use a color that will match your clothing/style for the time you wear it.

    • @agostinaalegre7734
      @agostinaalegre7734 3 года назад +9

      I think the same, but then again, we don't have to take everything Anna says as the ULTIMATE TRUE. As the end of the video, she says "Personal opinion", about the nail's lenght. So it could be a personal opinion about the colour even is she doesn't make it clear. She guides us, and from that we choose. I desagree with her in that case, but agree in the lenght.

    • @Julia-nl3gq
      @Julia-nl3gq Год назад

      @@jetsetwm I'd agree with that. And I think it's the same for hair colour, too. I think Nicole Kidman is a good example. That pale blond she has her hair dyed really washers her out, her skin looks rather ghostly.
