    LYRICS
    Will their children cry
    When their mother dies?
And in the autumn of their lives
    Will they feel the same?
    The longing for me
    Comin' down like hail
    Why did you leave me?
    Come here inside
    And tell me how
    How in my final days
    You found around
    Your concern
The signal for us to end our lives
    To wipe beneath the watches
    And you wait forever
The night comes high your weakness
    Storing trace on your eyes
    So I left you alone
    We all left you alone
Lock the children away from harm
They'll lock all your reason why
    Seeking tenderness with a dagger
Skin is blocked by the years of trial
You felt abandoned in the fog of flesh
Sitting in place from the dead
Awaiting the face of the moon to ascend
You follow the siren in your head, in your head

The magic of this band is this. Impossible to define the opeth musical style , there are too many influences inside. There is death metal but also 70's rock, blues and progressive. Sometimes even a slight touch of jazz! Mikael Akerfeldt is a great musician! Now react to another masterpiece, The drapery falls.

Well it marks the junction between their _prog_ _death_ era with their _70s_ _prog_ era and while I'm not a fan of the second era this crossroads between them is probably my favorite record of theirs.

Opeth is(!) Superjuice. This song though is one of the most epic songs ever made. April Ethereal from their album My Arms Your Hearse is also a piece of jewelry. Almost everything Opeth makes is gold.

i love this song because it really emobodie(d) what Opeth really was with their incredible talent on clean vocals and acoustics to their mind spiraling badassery that is(was) their heavy instrumentation and growls. I kind of see this song as the perfect analogy and epilogue to what Opeth used to be. Brilliant song.

Hessian Peel is a weird name for a song because it doesn't really mean anything related to the lyrics. Hessian is a European name for a kind of coarse fabric made from jute fiber. We call it burlap here in the US. It is used for things like sacks for coffee, tobacco and potatoes being shipped from farms and, traditionally, as a sack to hold the head of a criminal being beheaded. The fabric is called Hessian because soldiers from the old German state of Hesse used it in their military uniforms.

    • @vladpreoteasa4071
      @vladpreoteasa4071 2 года назад

maybe because it is a rough fiber and the song can be seen as being rough?

Another thing...15:46 is one of the nastiest rhythm guitar harmonies Opeth has ever done to create atmosphere of doom(the single held low notes that then slide down the fretboard)
