Someone in the comments of the live version of this song said "Lopez left behind a fucking legacy with this song". Truer words have never been spoken. Martin Lopez is an absolutely incredible drummer, and his contribution in Opeth's catalogue is second to none.

In all my years of rocking to the greatest bands on Earth, I had never really given Opeth a chance. Because of you two Opeth has a new fan. Thanks for all of your reactions, you are the best!
My first Opeth song, way back in the day, and a pretty distinct turning point in my musical tastes. \m/
Paraphrasing... "They usually have some clean vocals"... then the clean vocals happen. "You could lay on your bed and chill to this one".... then abrupt growls and intense tempo comes back. Your timing on your comments were almost perfect on this one. Man I love Opeth during the growling days. Their new stuff is great too but the mix of clean plus growls gave them a truly unique texture. Now days they remind me of a sixties or early seventies prog rock band with way better audio production. That isn't an insult. It just isn't as unique sounding.
Yep, the old opeth os the best, hands down…just too normal and mainstream now, for the most part, not what made them special
@@Plastikdoom I see nothing mainstream about their new stuff tbh, it's pretty unique. Just because it isn't heavy doesn't mean it's mainstream. ICV is a masterpiece, top 5 for me.

Martin Lopez (drums) went on to form SOEN. If you like Tool/pink Floyd/Opeth then I’d say well, well worth checking out. I prefer them to Opeth myself. After Martin left they just didn’t do it for me anymore.
