Turns out this level was TAS'd, Thab might try to beat it anyway: twitter.com/Team0Percent/status/1771287689397989400?s=20
Just to be sure I understand the meaning as I have only loosely followed: Was Trimming the herbs validated with tool assist and thus removed from the 100% completion?
@MrElgate yes, the creator of the level came out and said that he beat the level using TAS, ie a bot beat it. Because he himself never beat it, it was dropped from 100% user beaten levels.
@@dans4032wasn’t it beaten anyways? Illegitimately.
Now it has been beaten, so kinda sad they claimed their victory before the servers went down. If only they waited til the end before saying this level didn't count
@@retelefe Well, they anaged to finish 101% of beatable levels then :p
Kids these days. I mean, how hard could *18 back-to-back frame-perfect jumps* be?
(1/60)^18=9.8464*10^(-33). Which means it takes about 1000...00 (32 zeros in total) attempts to succeed once.
@@tai.diep21 Except if it's not just luck if you hit it at the exact frame. If you can make it somewhat consistent like in one of four attempts, this number decreases by a lot.
But it's still insanely difficult - I couldn't ever do it 😅
@@HiFisch94Yup, then it shall take around 260k attempts (by using the one of four attempts)

gd final fantasy:
This is now officially the final boss of super mario maker. You can do it team 0%!
It was a TAS run, all legitimate levels have been beaten alr.
And i'm sure you're aware, but this was bested in the end
Here from Karl Jobst
A man named Herb walks into a barbershop and asks for a trim. The barber says I can't do that, we're all out of bombs.
Carve this in stone and you will completely baffle people 1000 years from now who discover it.
KFC on Twitter used to follow the Spice Girls and six guys named Herb.
(11 herbs and spices)
props to whoever clipped this, it's useful
You're welcome :)
The goat
The level is obviously tough but this helped me understand why it's so tough. Thanks.
I'd just like to put in, I think it's really cool that the official Team 0% progress site now links to this video to explain about the last level standing.
This is officially the easiest uncleared level remaining

I read the title for a second as "Thab breaks down; Trimming The Herbs Team 0%"
I thought it looked pretty easy until he explained every "trim" is frame perfect
Oh that makes more sense
PIXEL?
And if that was all it was, it would be easy. If you just needed 5 frame perfect trims or whatever, that would be cleared in 10 minutes. There were some levels that were like, 50 frame perfects in a row or something. This level is just constantly hard and tight in every way, all at once. Awkward and precise in every way
Considering each "trim" is frame perfect and Mario Maker 1 is running at 60 FPS. The time between each frame in 60 FPS equates to 16.67 milliseconds.
This would mean you would have to react perfectly at 16.67 millisecond intervals multiple times to beat this level.
@@MemeRaiderLike kosmic said, even if it were just 5 16.67 millisecond reactions, the level would be cleared nearly instantly. It's managing that with the input complexity of grab timing, jump timing, and left/right movement all at once that makes it way harder than just a level with 50 frame perfects at 60fps in a row
A tough cookie to crack
A tough nut to bust, if you will.
this level has made me respect gardeners so much, never knew it was so difficult to trim herbs
Each motion is pixel perfect, extremely difficult
Following team 0% but not having seen the level yet, I was expecting something super long and brutal. Once I heard 10 seconds, I was sure this could be knocked out in time. But after watching? That looks absolutely insane, I couldn't learn how to beat this in months, probably years. That many frame perfect movements with super niche/unique tricks is too much to ask.
Solution: Thab does the first half, pauses, and hands the controller to LilKirbs who does the second half. You're welcome, Team 0%
Are they flatmates?
This is last level of smm1! Let's go guys!
Best explanation I've seen. Frame by frame. Cool wicked awesome man!
nintendo definitely isnt going to recognize Team 0%'s efforts... heck, they may send a cease and desist to that website instead for using the official nintendo cat paws and mario maker font
THIS IS THE FINAL LEVEL TO NOT BE CLEARED YET
this is grandpa demon difficulty
I don't know what that means, but yes.

Cringe
Its not just because its a 30 fps video, there's some kind of effect (idk what its called) from the video editing software that blends frames together that produces painful footage like this. Without that effect, the video would just have half of the frames omitted from the video, but it would still be watchable.
Interpolation, I think
I think it's because of Resampling being enabled which makes it look blurry.
in this case it’s interlacing. interpolation is an ai frame generation thing
Frame interpolation isn’t necessarily AI-related. This is likely frame interpolation, as it’s 30FPS footage encoded at 60FPS, so the software creates a “ghost” frame, made up of the current frame and next frame interpolated, to act as a transition between frames to try to make motion smoother. While AI has been used in recent years to improve the process, it’s been a feature of video editing software for decades.
Interlacing is when a video has two fields, upper and lower, which are swapped between at the given refresh rate of the display (determined by the line frequency of the power going into the display, so either 60Hz or 50Hz). This was done to accommodate for how the electron gun in a CRT works to work around needing to refresh the entire display at once without drawing on top of anything. In modern times, interlaced footage has a distinct blurry look, since LCDs refresh the entire panel simultaneously, so some form of deinterlacing is necessary to eliminate the black lines in every other row of pixels within each frame, which often means interpolating the previous frame, which often ends up creating visual artifacts that look like motion blur.
Nothing uses interlaced video, anymore, since it’s not necessary, so you’ll only encounter it when watching early 2000s media or trying to record a standard definition console without progressive scan support.
We're down to this and 2 other levels.

The last level...
The last level to beat should be done in a competition race with like many different screens of different guys playing the same level watching them all. That's the way to do it and do a count down on when everyone begins at the same time.
You know there are estimates that it will take several hundred hours until one person masters it. This can't be really done in a live competition
And the bounties for clearing it should be in the six figures.
@@MewtwoStruckBackit's around $500
@@bcsbernard That's sad. Look up the far side comic "Hopeful Parents" - that is the future I was hoping that Mario Maker would end up coming up with for trials for things like this level, Trials of Death, etc. - beating ONE insanely hard, months of practice required level should have the community coming together with enough money that that player doesn't have to work for like a year, at minimum.

Who is the person who cleared the level in this video? Or was it TAS?
ahoyo made the level
The one that cleared it was the author itself. After all, you need to be able to beat your level, to upload it.
Well someone's done it. The creator!
for Team 0% its not allowed for the creator to beat their own level
Well, _every_ level had to be cleared by the creator in order for it to get uploaded in the first place.
And if that was counted, there wouldn't be any reason for any of this 'team 0%' effort.
It’s a joke, y’all.
I think what MagikGimp means is that if someone (the creator) beat it, it should be possible for other players to beat it

I still have no idea how the creator managed to clear this level for submission, short of using some kind of TAS/automation.
You were right to doubt, it was apparently cleared by the creator via TAS
Looks pretty jankey. That last bomb jump was jankey too. And the janky cheese was jankilicious too.
Did the person who uploaded this clear it legitimately?
Clear vid is on YT
How could the maker of the level beat it? You have to to upload it, right?
levels can be uploaded due to glitches or hacking
@thonk the fact that there is a video of the level being cleared (presumably by the creator of it) means that the level wasn’t uploaded using a glitch to bypass actually beating it (unless the video is just some sort of TAS on some homebrewed Wii-U or something? I’m not very familiar with stuff relating to that).
seems pretty simple
ID?
Did he delete the level? It doesn't come up on the database.
*ALRIGHT WHO WANTS TO DESTROY THEIR GAMEPAD TO FINISH OFF SMM?!?!*
who beat the level in the first place so it can be in the game?
Wild suggestion: Could it be easier to play this level without seeing it? So like to perfectly narrow down the timing of inputs and become a "human TAS" as one would not care about what actually happens on screen? Maybe play by sound for the initial first input timing but from there follow an internal rhythm? Muscle memory as pure as it gets...
There seems to be no randomness involved so a perfect sequence of inputs should always "solve" the problem?
No! Lol
Your run-of-the-mill circuit bender/tech fiddler should be able to come up with an actual TASing setup in no time, makeshift fashion. All that's needed is a way to precisely detect when the level starts (optical recognition/RAM monitoring), then read a sequence of inputs from a text file and send them to the Wii U via USB. The rest is elbow grease that comprises programming the right inputs through painstaking trial-and-error.
I think the humans will beat it before anyone thinks of doing that though, they're already really close. I give it until March 20.

would this level place 1 on a demon list
GDs hardest levels aren't close to that of the hardest Mario Maker ones but this still probably wouldn't. Something like Bombs5 or Trials of Death would easily though
Whoever created this level had to beat it to upload it, right? I say we track him down to finish what he started
Im not sure how to explain it, but it feels like he isnt thinking about what he is saying, but thinking about what he is going to say next, and that leads to a bunch of "ummms" and pauses where he needs to regain his train of thought
Is the creator still active in the community? I wonder how they feel about all the hype.
According to a FAQ by warspyking, while ahoyo isn't active in the community anymore, he is probably aware of the efforts of team 0% and tth being the last level.
ahoyo used to be genuinely obsessive over bombs5 which led to this period of his life being very unstable which is why he isn't around anymore and why he just wants to stop thinking about it.
