    I think alot of their stuff is great, and frankly you keep harping and others on "they don't make anything" which is pretty normal for most businesses. Machine shops exists and they live off contract work, even alot of the major companies that people believe "make everything in house" don't, but most folks will believe they do, and it sounds like you may fall in to that category. It's all Americans supporting Americans, unlike companies like CHWPS sourcing their products from China. I don't care for some of FCD's products but I don't really see why it's relevant that you keep mentioning it's not all 100% made in house.

      @@pleirbagso what? It's their designs. You also completely ignore a companies role in the final QC checks to make sure their product making it to the customer actually meets their standards.
      It's like you guys think that the machine shops that trijicon (among other top brands) use are the reason why trijicon makes good optics. No. It's because trijicon has amazing QC because they spent the time and money to make sure that they don't send customers reject products.
      I absolutely value that in a firearm or firearm optic company.

    I think you're completely wrong about their safety selector. Like to the point I'd say it's embarrassing you'd suggest Radians terrible 45⁰ selector is superior. Its dog water comparativly. It feels worse, its harder to engage, it has plaatic components. Additionally, no one should be using 45⁰ safeties as it can potentially allow enough force on the trigger and slip out of safety and fire. 50⁰ is the minimum acceptable safety degree angle.

    • @chillnick1865
      @chillnick1865 3 месяца назад +2

      I agree. The ASF is genuinely the perfect safety and I’ve used a bunch of safeties on the market. I tried all variations and prefer the 50 non q. I also have heard the issues with firing on 45 degree safeties. Geissele also recommends against 45 degree safeties.

    Roger is great for the community. His customer service is top notch. His products always have a high level of QA/QC. Are some of their products seemingly overpriced? Yes. Are all of his products improvements on a very old platform? Some are, some aren't. He is always trying ways to innovate and provide good products with high level attention to detail, not only in the design process, but QA/QC and product description. I have purchased many products from them and any time I had a question, I just called or sent a Facebook message and got an answer. If price weren't a factor, they would be one of the most beloved small parts companies that exist. Some people just can't stomach the price of some of their quality products that come at a relatively premium price.

  • @welcomeUNKNOWN
    @welcomeUNKNOWN 3 месяца назад +8

    Me being an FCD shill, the short explanation would be that their prices are that way due to Rodger not being able to scale up their production to his standards, so they are subcontracted to smaller shops instead within their TDP specs, but I completely understand how some of the parts aren't worth it for someone, heavy or the price to performance isn't great. I purchased my parts at a heavy discount in 2020 and built my rifle with 2010-era bombproof in mind, so I can't complain much.

    Although I am honored that my comment led to the creation of a live stream FCD "review" of their products but my analogy was seen as more of a "burn" than I originally intended so I feel a further explanation is necessary.
    Some individuals would never eat Taco Bell (especially off any "value" menu) while others may never see value in spending the exuberant cost to eat at a 5-Star fine dining restaurant. At the end of the day, both will (sometimes) fill the stomach and both will eventually turn to crap at some point. My point is opinions are subjective to the pocketbook of the individual as well as their personal perspective of perceived "value" for their own hard earned dollar. Same analogy could be made for the reason people prefer a Lexus over a Toyota, same brand(for the most part) but one is a more refined luxury over a more practical economy vehicle. Some will try to find the best product available for the least cost while others will spend more (sometimes alot more) for more visually appealing similar functioning products with minor improvements to enhance the overall experience. I hope this make sense as you seem to be a sensible guy. I am in no way denying some "shade" being thrown your way with my comment but I feel it is 100% justified with the shade you were throwing yourself. 😉 Dont take life so serious bud but also try to be more curious and less judgmental when it comes to why consumers choose one product over another.
    Side note.... I eat off the Taco Bell value menu more than I care to admit and I purchase FCD products regularly because I happen to really like them over standard Milspec and I like supporting Roger and his company because he has gone above and beyond in this industry to help others including myself.

    My favorite FCD part is their low drag circular groove forward assist, (use it on all my uppers) but their winter trigger guard and enhanced buffer retainer are also great.
    other options I like
    1. Sylvan arms triple QD end plate is less than half the cost of FCD's end plate.
    2. badger ordnance C1 selectors (80) or Griffin armament 55 degree or 60-120 degree (40)
    3. Geissele bolt catch (as they mentioned) or Odin works at 22usd or B.A.D. at 15 for cast or 42 for billet (I do have FCD's bolt catch and it is quite nice, but not good enough to make up for its price)
    4. GG&G end plate with slots for direct mounting slings
    5. all my castle nuts are HK lengthened ones or US copies of the same, kind of expensive at ~50, but really cool
    6. there are several good lefty mag releases that run in the mid 30's
    7. cutting through the rest of the bolt catch channel and using a Teal Blue Bravo PDQ lever, or HK's ambi bolt catch, or Sig's is the best way to do ambi.

      @@HondaRiderX17 The FCD is noticeably better than the radian. Both in ergonomics and positive snap. Not to mention folks have been able to get hammers to drop on 45 degree safeties when on safe. Geissele also doesn’t recommend 45 degree safeties with their triggers. I just run a schmid or fcd at this point. The FCD is only like $20 bucks more than the radian anyways.

I also have their dlc 3 qd end plate and extra stake castle nut. Going to purchase their buffer tube as I messed my oem one up a bit cutting the oem staked castle nut off! (Great staking!!! But feel it’s a good tube for the tubbs flatwire/kynshot combo I run. Been thinking about their pivot pins as well. Could care less about a dust cover…(actually LOVE my mft dust cover….which is a black and white USA flag when closed and red, white, and blue when open!). Ohhhh and what got me started with FCD is their 6315rf which I got for the polonium can. Also have their 3P15 on my 16” upper to make can swappable. I personally like all these products I use. The md’s and safety being my favorites with function. That safety actually made a noticeable difference from the radian talon set I got with my raptor….i wasn’t impressed and had to buy this safety from FCD in parts…(center barrel and two arms…or arm and cap) but either way I told myself this safety has to be special..if not, I give up on safeties and will just run whichever is on it. But, it DID make a difference. In feel and function….at least when coupled with my specific trigger.

    The buffer retainer is actually worse than a stock one; your buffer shouldn't be striking the buffer retainer during cycling. If it is, then it means the hole in the lower is drilled in the wrong place, or the bolt carrier length is too short. I've had this happen on cheap lowers. Assuming your parts are in spec & QC'd, by putting an enlarged buffer retainer in, you're getting your buffer to strike something it otherwise wouldn't strike which would of course increase the risk of it snapping.

My source being that I work in the industry and we get small parts from a company that also supplies Geissele. It's really not a bad thing at all.

The back portion where your thumb would go gives such a good purchase for you to pinch the latch, that it feels as good as other aftermarket handles, but with less chance to snag on gear and pull your rifle out of battery accidentally. Also, they’re coming out with a slightly wider profile handle, so be on the lookout

You say you don’t want to rip and grip, so you don’t want ambi mag release. Cool. I don’t want to rip and grip either. That makes an ambi mag release mandatory for me. I also know from personal experience that it’s impossible to tell how good FCD controls are until you’ve actually used them. I clung to the MBC for ages. Until I tried an ABC. It’s not even close.
