I love how you kindly explain how to not to restrict yourself from eating what you like but as you mentioned in a prior video: let's honor the "feeling of I've had enough" by having a balanced diet and leaving a small space for sweets.
Thanks doc. Has anyone heard of the book 'Health and Beauty Mastery' by Julian Bannett and can’t believe how underrated it is. This book has some serious knowledge you won't find anywhere, definitely recommend.
When I started cooking for myself for the first time, I downloaded a calorie counting app that also told me how much calorie I was supposed to eat every day based on my height and weight. I was basically only eating the "healthy" side that she is talking about, eating 3 meals a day, sometimes with snacks, and yet I was still BELOW my daily goals!! It was great experience, honestly. I would recommend it to anyone to try for just a week/month or so bc it was a great learning experience. I personally stopped after a couple weeks bc I knew what I wanted to know about my diet from then on. You totally DON'T need to do this for a long time to get valuable takeaways from it!
I love how you make it known that we're human and will crave junk food so you include that in a healthy way instead of telling people to cut out every junk food cause not everyone can do that! You're truly helping and educating people thank you❤❤❤
I LOVE ALL your posts Emmie. You do such a fantastic job clearly conveying, in the most simplistic and impactful way, what nutrition is really all about.
Love the channel and all your shorts. Keep up the good work! I 100% agree with the “80/20” rule. I think there’s a more comprehensive rule that can really make weight loss/ body recomposition more accessible. I call it a progressive diet. Basically whatever you eat in a week track that and slowly increase the portion of your calories that come from whole foods. If you’re doing “50/50” then you will make progress next week by doing “55/45” and work your way up to “80/20” and if your goals are still not reached after that you can always keep going! Doing this in addition to adding cardio has helped me to look like a bodybuilder and feel great doing it! Btw add some protein to that stack of whole foods!!!!
As a male gym bro I am always baffled by how women seem to avoid lean meats like the pest. Something like chicken breast is also very low in calories while keeping you satiated. Same goes for eggs. You don't have to eat only vegetables and fruits. I love your message though, it's great
I am a fighter who does weight training also, when I changed my diet to only meats fruit and veg no carbs I felt phenomenal, I'm not saying csrbs are bad but I think everyone should give it a try atleast once
Ya know what. I REALLY IMMENSELY ENJOYED this video. Totally suscribed! ..and you're not screaming.. very much inspired. Grocery shopping is tomorrow. So looking at these foods and following the 90/10
I have also appreciated this balance, as well as spending extra time *REALLY* enjoying the 10-20% treat; helping me to savor the small and dense calories while respecting the ability to eat high volumes of heathier-when available.
I love grapes they are like candy to me so honestly I think finding healthier options that you really enjoy is a good idea and still including some sweet treats! I like the 80/20 idea!❤
Yes! This works for me. I have been also focusing on fiber and less sodium intake as well. Can’t forget to drink water which I admit I need to work on. Everyone is going to be different but doing this helped me lose 15 lbs and just feel a lot better internally, digestive and mentally. 💕
Even if you’re a small person like me sometimes you need more if you do a lot of high intensity workouts or burn more calories faster which is why it’s great she’s saying that you should adapt to your personal needs
I know you're normal a weight loss channel, but I'd love for you to talk about how to gain weight healthily for a friend of mine who can't keep weight on.
When losing weight 1) drink water, 2) eat healthy nutritious food 3) extra snacks. Most people struggle to differentiate between hunger and thirst and eat something when their body was trying to tell them they were thirsty. When gaining weight 1)eat healthy nutritious food, 2)drink something (no 0 calorie options) 3) extra snacks. Keep in mind that you still need enough liquids, but if you don't get enough in you most likely get enough liquids, but not enough calories in.
I use to have an issue with never ending hunger and BED which I atill struggle with. I use to live on low calorie foods to stay within my caloric range. Now that I am eating real food, such aswhole grain bread thats 120 calories vs white bread with 35 calories and 16 grams of fiber... I don't feel like I'm starving all the time. I increased my calories significantly by switching to real food full of nutrients and find that my appetite is a lot more stable. I thought I cracked the code on weight loss and maintenance along time ago but I am still learning.
In many places especially in India Junk food is way cheaper to eat to fill hunger stomach or basic necessity than eating healthy veggies fruits or else
I already know this but the problem for me is limiting it to 20% or whatever amount, I always add more because I eat with emotions or what makes me feel good (because it tastes good). I love food so much. It's hard to quit it. I did it only for a few months until I got back the bad habits
Maybe try to process your emotions rather than ignoring them with food. Try writing down how you feel each day and find what triggers you to overeat. 🫶 For the wanting more because it tastes so good, maybe you could eat something filling before hand like a baked potato with salad/ veggies. And drink water! ☺️
i’ve been attempting a very low key 80/20 approach by simply trying to buy only ingredients. bc if you don’t buy processed food you won’t eat it. grant it i live with people that have and share their nice processed things so i still get to enjoy despite buying whole foods only
I’ve been following someone from Paris , they don’t count calories but they don’t snack either , 3 meals a day and smaller portions ! Sidenote, when I was watching my protein and all my macros and I was eating nutrient dense, I could barely manage getting to 1100 cal because the food was so nutrient dense and I was so full so I just don’t believe our government’s food pyramid, calorie needs at all!!
Sorry internally I thought this but just didn’t execute: I love what you do and am so grateful for all your advice and content style, framing, everything, thank you so much!!
I hate the idea of "real whole natural foods". And the assertion that they are all less calorie dense is not true. Nuts are real, whole and natural and they're VERY calorie dense.
We need more whole, fiber-rich carbohydrate foods than protein and fats. For example, a balanced distribution could be 50% carbohydrates, 25% protein, and 25% fats. We can't eat a plate of nuts the same way we eat a plate of whole grains, vegetables, fruits, or legumes. Whole, fiber-rich foods tend to have more fiber, which is beneficial for colon health. Additionally, the body eliminates the majority of it the next day through regular bowel movements. What she is suggesting is wrong because we also need other macronutrients to survive. A balanced approach is key.
the problem with me is the not knowing how much calories are in my meals. i fear that im overeating bc things in the us are calorie dense even for seemingly healthy things 😭😭
This was a bad comparison considering that most people don’t just eat fruits and veggies. They’re the calorie dense foods you should’ve added meats, diary and whole grains and compare it to chips, chocolate and other foods. However I do appreciate everything else you mentioned.
Fruits and vegetables are great. you can do better by adding sources of protein and fat in that supposedly healthy food side. it won’t end up looking like a lot then. But you’ll have all the essential macros you need in a day.
I do the 90/10 and still don’t reach my goals but I think that might just be a me thing bc my adhd makes health and fitness out to be boring so I gotta make it fun somehow 💀💀💀
Honestly I think my calorie needs might be higher, I eat a lot of calories but I hardly gain weight and I'm hungry all the time doesn't matter which kind of food I eat
I love how you kindly explain how to not to restrict yourself from eating what you like but as you mentioned in a prior video: let's honor the "feeling of I've had enough" by having a balanced diet and leaving a small space for sweets.

Really appreciate your balanced, realistic, sustainable approach!

I live by the 80/20 rule 🙏🏼 the side by side comparison is mind blowing though. Wonderful visuals, Em!
This is where a balance and moderation come in. You can have fun foods but think of it as a treat and portion it.
Love how you explain this so thoroughly. The visual is so helpful! 😍
Such a sensible and sustainable approach! I appreciate your videos SO much!
Glad you like them!

I love your message though, it's great
As a woman, I eat all meats, fruits, veg and diary. I also go to the gym for cardio and weights 💪
This particular content creator is vegan I believe so that’s why you don’t see any meat/eggs haha 😅
I am a fighter who does weight training also, when I changed my diet to only meats fruit and veg no carbs I felt phenomenal, I'm not saying csrbs are bad but I think everyone should give it a try atleast once
Tysm! You are an angel! You don't know how much U help ppl with ED's :'D
Thank you for letting me know! I want to start a healthier routine and also work on mental health. Tyson for the information. Good rule ❤️

WE LOVE EMMIE! She’s just what we all need right now. Thanks for showing this to us. It’s really a good point to realise.
This is so helpful! I am not afraid or feeling guilty about food anymore. I can still eat what I want with balance.
Love your vids. ❤ from Manila!

Great explanation for people trying to lose weight !!

Interesting, good health point - thanks for sharing Emmie 😊
THANKYOU !
I’ve always done 80/20. My brother taught me about 80/20 when I was 12 years old and I’ll never forget it
The way you speak makes me want to listen!!
Good idea!!!
Thanks for watching! 🙂

I know you're normal a weight loss channel, but I'd love for you to talk about how to gain weight healthily for a friend of mine who can't keep weight on.
This is a very intelligent and nice approch . I would just ad a bit of whole grain products. Not only veggies and fruits as whole foods
lol obviously .. your body needs 3 other macros, but i think she's just showing how much amount of food you can eat if its whole and not processed
Thank you!!!!

that scared me when you said that small amount of chocolate was 2,000 calories 😭
You are so smart and beautiful❤
great video :)
‘Natural’ isn’t a meaningful argument. Nothing is superior SIMPLY because it’s natural.
Wybm it is it's healthy and u can eat more and eat less calories
If I don’t eat junk food than I don’t want junk food but once I start it takes months to get back on track…
Another great video. Thanks!😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
You could do something like a food pyramid to visualize the whole thing 🎉😂
That food is lightwork babyyyyyy
I’ve been following someone from Paris , they don’t count calories but they don’t snack either , 3 meals a day and smaller portions ! Do you think you could talk about cereals and such? Breakfast advice especially if your mornings are short?
Sorry internally I thought this but just didn’t execute: I love what you do and am so grateful for all your advice and content style, framing, everything, thank you so much!!
Have you tried overnight oats?

Just so you know everything is processed even fruits and there is nothing wrong with that but it is what you eat
Any certain kind of tea ? ❤
Can someone confirm she is a real nutriologist?
I do 50/50 and still lose weight
How do I know the amount of calories I should eat to maintain my weight? Therefore, how less calories do I need to eat to be in a caloric deficit?
Search BMR calculator
"nAtUrAl"more like sensory overload to me
I do this!!!
Let’s do 20% 80%
Yes yes yes!!! I love this explaining. A lot of people don’t get this 😭🩷🩷🩷
I am hyper active and growing so I burn around 2500 calories a day so I eat healthy and I have some more calorie dense foods!
Not eating meat is the most unhealthy thing you can do to your body
Cries in 5ft because even a small calorie deficit is like 1200 for me 😭
You could switch the oil.
the problem with me is the not knowing how much calories are in my meals. i fear that im overeating bc things in the us are calorie dense even for seemingly healthy things 😭😭
How do you feel about intermittent fasting in perimenopause?
🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Ok but that category on the left is SO expensive. I don’t get the luxury of all that produce in a month 😢
This was a bad comparison considering that most people don’t just eat fruits and veggies. They’re the calorie dense foods you should’ve added meats, diary and whole grains and compare it to chips, chocolate and other foods. However I do appreciate everything else you mentioned.
You have to count every bit regardless, if you are serious
Yeah today I had a bagel, some Mac n cheese, an uncrustable, and some carrots and in all out of calories 🥲
I'd rather eat tiny portions of food than stuff myself with vegetables/eat 80% foods that taste and make me feel bad.
Cooking at home changes *so much* and saves money. Let’s re-normalize home cooked meals pls!
Money 🥲🥲🥲 that much food per day...gonna cost a lot in a month...
Hey, I know it kind of sounds obvious, but I didn't think it that way. Cool
Can u share salty recipes
Fruits and vegetables are great. you can do better by adding sources of protein and fat in that supposedly healthy food side. it won’t end up looking like a lot then. But you’ll have all the essential macros you need in a day.
Affectation
I do the 90/10 and still don’t reach my goals but I think that might just be a me thing bc my adhd makes health and fitness out to be boring so I gotta make it fun somehow 💀💀💀
Since I’m at 12th grade weight, I’ll take the chocolate! Sprinting is the weight loss cure. Let’s go! Age 70.
Damn 🥲🫠
Honestly I think my calorie needs might be higher, I eat a lot of calories but I hardly gain weight and I'm hungry all the time doesn't matter which kind of food I eat
No matter how much i eat i barely gain weight, i only grow😅
This is also helpful for people who wanna gain weight
