Yes
It's kinda facinating how in one way Alan and snape had to keep the same secret.
May God keep them both. ❤
Oohhh

Yess
I wonder if that was part of the why he was told. A sort of method acting, perhaps.
JK: You kept the secret? After all this time?

ok but Dan's impression of Alan's "I'll tell you later" 😆
you mean Potter's impression?)
He’s a really talented actor. Gets overlooked because of his roll as Potter but he does good work.
@@youtubesucks3811 It was a terrible impression
@@olivernewton8584 cool story
Ikr! He made his voice all Snape-like.
I like how Snape acts like this grumpy no soul wizard but when it comes down to it he would give his life to protect the children.
The prisoner of Azkaban..
he is infact a grumpy no soul wizard infact the movies sugarcoated his character he was a total ass in the actual books
@khalidmallhi yeah. He was told the secret to the detriment of the series. Snape in the book was very much like Hans Gruber, Alan's breakout role. Nasty, ruthless, cynical, and actually quite expressive.
@@khalidmallhi Maybe read The deathly hallows again. I found the writing of Snape as impressive as Alan Rickman's acting. These few pages after Harry collected the tear from Snape and learned the truth in the denkarium were over the top.
@firstclaw1 yeah but in books 3-6 he is such an asshole to not just Harry, but also to Hermione, Neville, Ron...pretty much anyone not in Slytherin. Like a grown adult being a massive bully to kids? Not a hero in my book.
Alan deserved an Oscar for his voice alone

Without him, it wouldn't be the same. He is the only character that looks very much like he is described in the book. And he has a brilliant voice.
Though snape was described to be younger. (not critiscm)
@@princessloveheartglitter oh who cares jk Rowling didn’t mind and I have a feeling once Jk Rowling met him she was like “yea that’s snape(or

I miss Alan Rickman. He was such a legend and his voice moved mountains. Truly lost such a talented individual.
She let him know that Snape was a multidimensional character, more than a simple villain who casts magic or a shady professor, that it was worth to keep working on him for years because of what he could do in those years would affect the entirety of what we thought we knew, so after the final Harry Potter movie, looking back, watching all his scenes again, we could see the truth and how it was all there in front of us this whole time but we couldn't see it before, his acting would suddenly make sense, and it would change everything. A brilliant character and a brilliant acting, I'm so glad he decided to stay. Rest in Peace Alan Rickman. 🙏🏻💜
Your analysis is spot on.
I mean it was hinted in the first movie when he asked Harry about how to make a certain potion which basically translated into a deepest regret of loss.
@@dallisb1047 I disagree 100%....as would anyone who READ the books. You and Caro obviously only watched the movies.
op clearly only mentioned the movies not the books
Snape was never a villain, he was acting as a spy on behalf of Dumbledore
I couldn’t imagine anyone else playing that role. Literally everyone in the series is irreplaceable.
It’s because you emotionally connected and got used to them doing all the parts. If the entire series had a different cast than the current one you wouldn’t have that problem and you probably would’ve said the same lol. Get what im saying?
wasn't the character Albus Dombledoor replaced ?

@@FivePinkFingersAloneBlueEyes the first actor died, yes replaced but for an other reason which was death, but yes, third movie and forward the actor is different form first and second

Alan was so perfectly cast as Snape, I can't imagine anyone replacing him if he did quit.
yep it would have been as bad as the rplacement we got for the real Dumbledore
@@beidorion Personally, I liked Michael Gambon in Order of the Phoenix and Half-Blood Prince. Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire, he was eh. Richard Harris definitely had him beat for those two. But I liked the energy Michael brought to the role and he really felt powerful. I have an easier time believing Voldemort was always afraid of him over Richard Harris. Though obviously, Richard is more accurate to the book portrayal.
yearh i missed the calm and regal air about him the second casting was a more brutish version and i for my part never liked that. he came off as too weak but then again i based my views solely on the book dumbledore and not the version they changed him into on screen @@matthewscorner2990
Series would have fallen of, and we would have gotten something even worse than GoT final season
Imagine Keanu Reeves as Snape😅
Oh how i miss Alan Rickman, his rich velvety voice, such a wonderful actor. Truly madly deeply missed by all i'm sure😢
Rowling revealed this to him before he signed on. He was wary about being typecast as a villain, so Rowling told him that Snape loved Lily, and he knew that he could take the role because he would ultimately be revealed as a good guy.
Agreed he was a huge hero of the series... everyone basically hated him .. but he was doing good and keeping Harry safe but no one beside Dumbledore knew .. to Hogwarts he was the bad guy to death eaters he was the bad guy .. it wasn't till he was dead that the truth came out .. he was one the of heros of the story and he did it all cause he truly love Lily even when she choose another man he loved her and protected her son cause she was gone and couldn't.
@@cesarramirez2935 "chose" not "choose".
And he protected Harry and even James before Lily's death. When he learnt that Voldemort was targeting Harry and so Lily was in danger which made him realise the error of his ways, he sought a meeting with Dumbledore and said "Hide her, hide them all. I beg you."
@@Ranger1812 you can’t be a dick and correct his spelling, then go and write horrendous that sentence.
Why not just read the books?
@Sorei probably cause the Full series of books weren't full released yet ... so Rickmans character and hidden secret wasn't even know except to Rowling. So reading the books wouldn't have helped since last book came out in 2007 and the 2nd movie actually came out in 2002 .
Alan Rickman was the perfect person for Professor Snape. No one else would have don it and won our hearts ❤️
May his soul rest in peace ❤️
Maybe some other actor might have been able to bring Snape to life, but Alan Rickman actually did it, and he will forever be Snape in everyone's mind who sees even one of the films or reads even one of the books. Only an actor of the highest ability could have brought that complex and ultimately tragic character to life.
@@emmitstewart1921 absolutely ❤️
May Alan rest in peace 🙏🙏🙏
Still don't like Snape because it just showed he protected Harry because of the love he had for Lily but never because he cared for Harry. Snape also joined the death eaters and before he joined with Dumbledore he watched many people like Lily die. So no, Snape is not the best character that's misunderstood. Snape was a complicated soon revealed depth of a character but not one that's endearingly good. 👍
Alan was such a great actor!
Wait, he's dead???
@@joeydebus1329 yes
Snape has always been my favorite. He was never the bad guy, but he always held potter accountable. He made him realize his actions affected others and their futures as well. He guided Harry to his strengths, and helped him identify his own weaknesses. He did what any father that passed early would want for their kids. A stern but guiding hand in life. Snape turned Harry into the wizard version of a real man. JK Rowling made an amazing story with a ton of hidden details. It's a great read or watch.
I agree
In ways and at times he was a strict father that Harry never had. Coming from Vernon it's no wonder Harry would lash out against that sort of thing even if underneath Snape cared whereas Vernon didn't. Petunia did though. Feel like if Dudley wasn't there she would've treated Harry better than she did. I also think some of that mistreatment was just following Vernon's lead.
“You’re a spy, Snape”
is like an adult version of
“You’re a wizard, Harry.“

Absolutely. I have never seen him give less than 100%, and he was good in so many different kinds of roles, from moustache twirling villains in Die Hard and Robin Hood, to complicated characters like Snape, he was a brilliant Shakespearian actor, and Galaxy Quest showed that he could kill in comedies as well.

Loved Alan Rickman in everything I have watched him in. He was the perfect professor Snape
My favorite movie of his, is Galaxy Quest
What an iconic voice he had!!
I hated Snape, but that just means Rickman did a good job at acting as the character, that was the point, we were supposed to dislike him, until he was revealed he had good in him and aided Harry. Snape's death scene, saying to Harry, you have your mother's eyes is probably so unexpected to those who didn't read the books, but really shows he really truly loved Lily.
I know. The intense way he said, “Look at me!” to Harry before he died (after later knowing why) brings tears to my own eyes.😢
it's the same with Jack Gleeson as Joffrey in game of thrones. you hated them, because they were killing it in their roles to perfection.
@@brandocalrissian3294 and the guy that played Ramsay Bolton too! I forget his name, but he was brilliant!
I watched a lot of WWE as a kid, I HATED edge with a passion. Now 15 years later I watch him in interviews describing how he played the heel and wanted everyone to hate him because that was his roll. He did that shit so well, everyone did hate him. I feel like it's relatable to shapes character he was a heel that turned good
He was more insuffarable in the books & I hated him because how he was portrayed there. In the movies, he’s a badass. I love his unique take on the character. I also like Michael Gambon’s take on Dumbledore. He may not be the calm man he is in the books, but he’s perfect for when the story gets darker, he’s more imposing & a man of action. Kinda reminds me of Gandalf in a way
I so miss Alan Rickman. He was such a wonderful actor and came across as such a humble and beautiful human being.
My sentiments precisely. He will be sorely missed.

His performance as Professor Snape was essential to the telling of the Harry Potter story
I loved Alan Rickman. He was such a phenomenal actor. I’m still saddened that he is no longer with us. May he Rest In Peace ❤️
I miss him too 😭😭😭
Not only my favorite Harry Potter character but one of my favorite movie characters period! What a legend!
I feel like Snapes entire character was built on the moral, "Never judge a book by its cover." I mean he was even later revealed to be the Half blood Prince. A secret in a book that was just as mysterious as the one who wrote it. A beautiful character, love him or hate him he was a remarkable character.
I agree. I think it was also one of the main lessons from the Harry Potter series...
That phrase means not to judge somebody based on physical appearance. Snape was judged on his actions.
At the beginning everyone hated him but at the end he become the most loved character of harry potter
The word *Always* is so precious to all Snape's fans.. I'm no exception!
RIP Alan Rickman, you were the Snape we needed.
He was a real life Snape! Holding onto secrets until it was time to disperse it to the world! RIP Rickman.❤️
Snape was always my favorite character, after reading up to Prisoner of Azkaban I knew then and there that there was something more to Snape and Harry's relationship, after Half Blood Prince I knew that KNEW 100% that Snape's purpose after Lily's murder, was to keep Harry safe no matter the cost. He was the unsung hero, and in truth he was the real hero in the end. Without Snape Harry would never have had a chance.
Without Snape, Lily would likely still be alive... so had Snape never told Voldemort about the prophecy Lily wouldnt have been targeted. So hero is a stretch to say the least. People that dont read the books overvalue Snape because the movies romanticize him, but he's an evil prick in the books that has a single saving grace, he loved Lily Evans. But he HIMSELF put her in danger by being Voldemorts loyal lapdog. Up until Voldemort went after Lily Snape was 100% loyal.
@@dalehammers4425 You didn't read the books. The agreement between Dumbledore and himself.
@@IdaKiss I read the books several times each per year.
Someone didn't read the books, all the purpose of the Prophecy was for Voldemort to listen it, the unfinished version of it, his choice is the element that made a prediction become a prophecy, Voldemort's choice is what kills Lily, he could have chosen Neville.
Harry was so grateful with Snape that he named a son after him.
agreed
Nobody could have played a better Serverus Snape than Alan Rickman.
This just makes him my favorite even more. I'd had to stop reading the books because I couldn't enjoy the movies with my friends, so when it was revealed, he was protecting Harry the whole time it hit me hard.

Such a great man, Hans Gruber to Snape. He will be missed.
Snapes big secret: One small piece of information
One of the loveliest hidden things that most people don't really catch when watching Harry Potter is that before Snape dies he cries a memory and in that memory he leaves Harry it shows him casting his potronus charm as a doe the same as Harry's and his mother's he sent it to harry to provide comfort when he was in the time loop to after harry saves himself.
No Snape in HP? Can't even imagine it 😮! Also, thanks for inspiring to start my celeb channel! Hope you're having a great 2022 everyone ❤!
They wouldve recasted. Just no alan
@@aaronmay7090 They could and would have, but if that had happened, I would have just ignored every scene with Snape, even if that meant missing half the story and movie. Just like now with the Grindelwald recast from Johnny Depp to someone else, if I watch the next movie, which I don't plan to (I'm not going to support a movie/company that jumped on a decision without supporting evidence) I'll just ignore every single scene with Grindelwald. Literally not worth watching if it doesn't have the right actor(s) (Dumbledore is an exception both bc the first actor died, and bc I liked Michael Gambon better anyway)

Man, seeing how many people from harry potter have passed on makes me so sad, these movies were such a huge part of my childhood.
It's funny how a few words can make all the difference to an actor. Like, I can imagine that all JK said to Alan was "Snape loved Lilly Potter.". And those four words can just open up a whole new universe for an actor like Alan Rickman. So much jealousy, so much love, so much obligation, so much resentment, so much ready and willing to give for such few words. It changes the whole character, and you can see how Alan Rickman balanced all of that in his performance, as a true master.
He's forever Professor Snape.. always
I despised Snape, but the death of Alan still deeply saddens me. He was a gem.
I never understood the Snape hate
I mean literally dumbledore's plan was to keep Harry close and then murder him once he was the last horcrux in existence
@@lujlp how can you not know?? Even rickman didn’t like him… even he knew?? It’s not rocket science even tho he did good he wasn’t always the best person😂😂

That what happens when you’re as revered as Rickman was 🥺❤️
There is something so mysteriously good about him even in real life. He was an amazing actor. He will be missed 😢❤
It's nice that he wanted his character to be complex
He was the hero , the actual hero
Not really. Hero's act out of goodness with no selfish motivations. Snape's reasoning was pure selfish revenge for Voldemort killing Lily. AMAZING character, but not a hero.
He would have made a wise choice though because the amount of hate Tim Felton received 😬 the backlash by Potter heads could have impeded future roles until he realized he was the bravest man Harry Potter knew 🥰❤️
The ironic part though is that while what he did was brave, he didnt do it for good reasons. He was getting revenge for Voldy killing Lily. It was never once about Harry to Snape, it was always about Lily. And his own regrets at getting her killed, because he knew that had he not told Voldemort about the prophecy (thereby activating it) Lily never would have been targeted and would likely have survived. Him telling Voldemort about the prophecy directly lead to Lily's death.
Alan Rickman was Severus Snape.....
