I don’t think Snape knew
It was so hard for Snape even if hes not a father he took care of two kids because they were in danger!
@@User0155 He knew. That all was part of Dumbledores plan that he explained to Snape prior. Dumbledore predicted that Malfoy would firstly disarm him because that's what every other wizard would do as step one if they had to kill a powerful wizard. It was crucial to let Malfoy disarm Dumbledore and than to have Snape do the final blow. This way Voldemord would think that the Elder wands loyalty would be with Snape. Voldemord never knew that Malfoy disarmed him before Snape killed him because no one saw it and Malfoy never knew that his action against Dumbledore resulted in him being the truthful owner of the wand. This was the only way to make sure that Voldemord would never obtain the full power of the elderwand because if he did he would've been unstoppable.

It really did. I was just talking about this the other day. The progression of the story is one of the most amazing ever. From innocent and magical to dark and grim over the years. Absolutely brilliant writing with the books and the story and the movies upheld it

Voldemort : WTF?
At that moment when Harry put his hand on Snape to comfort him despite everything, then he must have realised Harry was not James but Lily.
@Neon Nights I think Snape was mean to Harry because he reminded him of James but at the same time he protected Harry because of his love for Lily. I don't think there was ever a mask.
Harry placed his hand to cover the blood flow... Atleast for sometime.... N all the while Snape knew tat Harry wasn't a bit of James...... Tat is y, he tried every trouble to be away from Harry from the start.... Even though Harry had accidentally or intentionally been in those places of trouble... . He was all along like lily... Wherever his parents have showed up...in All those places...his mother was d one who kept him gng on.... Not James... James was just a dummy there... N tat showed how much more he was like lily....
When snape was telling harry "his got his mother's eye" he meant not the eye colour but he sees so much of Lilly in harry and less like his father.
He is not James or Lilly. He is Harry.
In his younger years he was a lot like James which is why snape despised him . As he got older he became more like lily

@@Cruzer871 don't think think Snape was proud of Harry. Any affection towards Harry was probably because he was Lilly's son. In Harry, Snape probably saw a kid that got his way all the time, just like his dad. What he probably felt for Harry in the end was pitty. Since Dumbledore had basically misled Harry all his life.

When you realize that Snape was actually one of the good guys from the very beginning it makes his death hurt even more
This scene is the epitome of why Harry is a great guy. Stubborn and occasionally cocky and impulsive to an extent, but he showed sympathy and solace to a dying man in pain who he fucking hated when he didn't even know the truth. Didn't let Snape die alone and gave him company.

I think, for me, this is the worst death in Harry Potter; simply because when Snape dies, he dies completely and totally alone. He believes that everyone hates him and what he's done is unforgivable.
By him giving Harry the tears, he died knowing that the truth would be revealed. And in the end, it was.
Harry showed him compassion, even though he thought he was a traitor.

Such a sad scene :( Snape compares Harry to his father so much. He hated his father, and that hatred came onto Harry, but when he's dying he doesn't see "James" in Harry anymore, he compares him to Lily for the first time :'( Its so sad and beautiful at the same time
Lovelifegirl now i'm crying :'( when as a child i hated snape so much but now i realise he was a good man
Its not only the thing that he compares Harry to his mother. This "Look at me" was just so he could see Lilys Eyes as the last thing he would see ever because he was still loving Lily :C I feel so bad for hating him when I was little :(
+Jyotiraj Saharia He was not a good man. Every thing ''good'' he did was not out of altruism and good will for others, it was out of love for Lily. So ultimately, he was just a selfish emo, not a good man.
Son Of Montreal A "selfish emo" Yeah so he did things and was dressed in black skinny jeans, wore black eyeliner and had fluffy emo hair while he was listening to some emocore? Oh yeah I totally remember him like that.
He wasnt good. You are right. But neither was he selfish. A selfish person wouldnt have done all the things dumbledore wanted, even if it was out of Love for a person. Snape was an antihero.
Tarja Laufeyson Jesus Christ chill out, I obviously didn't say emo in the clothing/style kind of way. The term emo is a 90s abbreviation of ''emotional hardcore''. When I said he was a selfish emo, I was saying he was emotionally selfish, because all he did was about his own feelings towards Lily, never about other people's well being. He did do good things but since he did not do them for the good reasons, it cannot make him a ''good man''.
I can't imagine how relieved Snape must have been to see Harry, so that his mission would not fail.
"Snape died looking into Harry’s eyes: the eyes of the boy who survived because the woman he loved died. The eyes of the boy who looked like the spitting image of his father; the man who bullied him, then married the love of his life. Imagine having to look into those eyes in that moment; the eyes that both pained you intensely and yet made you feel love more than anything in the world. Snape’s final moments are perhaps the bravest we saw of any character."

Same , he’s my favorite
I mean in the books harry wasn't an angel but man , this guy has amazing empathy, he sympathized with luna when he found out that she was being bullied and asked her without thinking to go to the party with him
he sympathized with Snape when he saw his worst memory, he felt that Snape was suffering from unfair treatment as a teenager, he did not laugh when Snape was humiliated even though Snape bullied him and Neville and caused a crisis for the students
Not to mention his sympathy for the child Tom Riddle when he learned that his mother abandoned him and he recognized the features of lack of love and happiness on his face, and his attempt to stop Peter from strangling himself and not knowing the reason for his attempt to put his hand on Snape's neck
Harry's character is deeper than people think , it seems to me that he is the only person who knows why people like
(Dudley, Snape, Draco, Voldemort, James in his youth, Sirius , etc.)
turn into what they are, he knows that people are a product of their environment and that one wrong move and he would have turned into someone like Voldemort,
uh,❤ all I can say is his children are very lucky to have him
Harry is a very understanding person and his suffere in childhood and life made him the better man
no wonder that dumbledore loved him he noticed that Harry did not follow the path of Snape and Voldemort in terms of mentality, although he had a dirtier childhood than them

@Hol M Sorry for the reply to an old comment, but the actual track is called " Snape's Demise"
I can't help but think that Snape is one of the most tragic character in fiction. He falls in love only to be tossed aside for a bully, then despite trying to save the woman he still loves, she still gets killed. And now after years of servitude and loyalty to Voldemort (yes, I know he's a double agent actually siding with Dumbledore) his reward is death by Voldemort's pet. Despite everything he put Harry through he still cared about him, even though he was a constant reminder of his school tormentor and the woman he would never see again. Severus Snape, truly one of the heartbreakingly beautiful characters ever created.
Can't help, but, agree... Snape's whole life is a beautiful tragedy...

This scene is just so tragic. Severus dies not only by Nagini's bites but also from the sectumsempra curse Voldemort used on his neck (a curse he created). He died in the shrieking shack, a place where he almost died at the hands of Lupin as a werewolf when Sirius told him to go there when they where younger. In the midst of all this the boy who imitates his inner conflict comes in: the boy conceived by the only woman he ever loved and the man he despised the most. Harry comes in without knowing how brave Snape was and still after thinking he was a death eater who killed Dumbledore decides to treat him with kindness. Alan was truly and amazing performer, capable of showing the desperation (without overacting) Snape must've felt as he was going to give Harry the last clue to defeat Voldemort with his dying breath.

Adelynn T desplat does a great job of leit motif in this movie. Lily’s theme almost becomes Snapes theme as well.
@@BloodMoonDream1 Yea
It wasn't quite so beautifully sad in the book because Harry still bitterly hated Snape at that point.
This version shows something special about Harry's character. He's a compassionate person who went to the side of a dying man and stayed with him. Even though he hated him. Snape always hated Harry because he reminded him too much of James. But in that moment, perhaps Harry reminded him of Lily and what Snape really meant was "You are your mother's son"
i wish the showed the whole memore of Snae's worst memory it will show how kind he was
I was watching the film the other day and I felt far too much was missing from Snape's memory sequence to the extent that it didn't properly make sense. Not to me anyway.
EverChangingShadow it didn't show why itn bothered Snape
Harry was also compassionate to Snape in the book, don't get it twisted.
Ouch, that hurts.
OK, yes Harry did show a level of compassion in the book but it was very different.
Harry went to Snape's side and stayed with him to the end, granting Snapes last request. But it was a little bit evasive about why Harry did that. Was it out of compassion or out of hate? Did he simply want to confront Snape before he died? I think Harry just didn't know what else to do. A man was dying. A man he hated, but he was still dying.
In the film it was more clear on the fact that Harry felt a man was was dying alone and actually tried to help him some way.
Do you see what I mean?
His love for Lily is pure and genuine. I watched this scene and cried several times.... I love Snape.
It wasn’t a pure love
He was obsessed with her
he spend his life thinking of a dead married woman and he bullied her child because he looked like his father
The way he says “please” as he’s squeezing his tears out is so wonderfully delivered. You can hear not just his pain, but the desperation too. This is his last chance for Harry to finally understand him and all that he did. What we learn of him later makes this death so tragic yet noble. To think that you’d die with everyone thinking you’re a villain must be so painful. That pitiful please tells so much.

I’m sure Voldemort got some satisfaction from killing Snape. The kind of satisfaction someone has when they make a successful business deal.
My favorite part of this scene? If Harry hadn't shown compassion for a man he'd hated up until now, if he'd just muttered "serves you right" and walked away, he wouldn't have gotten the memory and all would have been lost.
They really nailed how forgiveness for even your enemies is necessary
Don't you mean "severus you right"?
True. Very true. Total respect for Harry here. He used to have such pure animosity and disdain for Snape. He didn't even know the truth here. Just took somewhat pity on the man in pain in front of him.
Don't worry, Rowling would have made sure that Harry didn't desert Severus.
I don't think it's just for the convenience of the plot. That truly shows Harry's character. He has seen so much pain. He doesn't want anybody to suffer. He even felt compassion for Voldemort. That's why he asks him to show remorse in their final encounter. Because he knows that this is the only way to redeem Voldemort's soul. He even tries to safe Voldemort's soul in the end. That's what really sets apart the series from anything else. It thought me the true meaning of forgiveness.
This is what I love: Harry still believed that Snape was a horrible and evil man, yet he held his neck and sat with him while he died. He didn’t try to cause him more pain or say something like “You deserve this.”
AND there's the fact that despite how horrible Harry's Aunt, Uncle and Cousin were to him... he still saved their lives by getting them to go into hiding.
@@GreenGlo1991 I think a good ammount of people, if having gone through what Harry did, would've acted coldly towards someone they saw as a traitor who got what he deserved. Some might feel more unconfortable then others, but I think there are some people who would've more or less acted that way.
Which is why Harry's goodness comes to surface so much in this scene. He had literally every reason to hate Snape to death at this point, but he still went there and conforted him. Not too many people would do that.
This comment just killed me😭😭😭
He looked like his dad but had his mom’s eyes and core personality. Snape was in denial of this because it was too painful to acknowledge that the woman he loved married and had a child with a man he hated. It was easier to hate Harry because of James’s past misgivings but in the end Harry’s kindness inherited from Lily was the comfort Snape needed after years of loneliness.
beautiful
Man imagine what Harry must've felt in this moment, as he sees someone who he thought to be an enemy dying before him. Only then to have a feeling/realisation that he may have been gravely mistaken. Mixed with the helplessness of the situation and hearing his final words "You have your mother's eyes".
This scene shows what separates the good guys from the bad. The way Harry still shows compassion to a dying Severus while considering him the murderer of Dumbledore. If he didn't show kindness to the dying man he would've never gotten the truth directly from the source.
Harry was more like his mother but snape just saw james cause he looks like him he wouldn't give Harry a chance

Thanks for reminding me. Now I’m crying again! 😢
The way you phrased that makes it sound like they just straight up killed Alan Rickman on set to make the film more realistic
J.K Rowling is a genius in my opinion, the plot is so intricate. Snape is such a tragic character, losing the love of his life to his tormentor and enemy, contributing to her death, repenting, constantly in an internal struggle between caring for her child yet being reminded of his father. The movies got 75% of the stuff right and I think they got the Snape character very well but some things you just can't get on a screen.
Perfectly put.
I think he was too good. He should be more of bully imo. Though it somewhat showed and his pedantic personality (like in GoF with Karkarov where he spied on the couples and punished those 2 in the cab)
This scene alone cements Harry as a better man than both Snape and his father had ever been.
YES

Snape is and always will be my favourite character.
His death is the saddest out of all of them, I cried the most here.
Alan Rickman, what a performance. Rest in peace, you legend. We love you.
Couldn’t have said it any better
The fact that many people in this story tell harry that he has his mother’s eyes in an endearing way and yet it hits much more with Snape (Lily’s best friend) speaks volumes. These last words also tell harry that Snape always loved him because he was the son of his best friend and wanted to protect him through tough love even though Snape was never the most affectionate man on the outside.
It’s also crazy to think that snape’s last words weren’t originally in the book. He tells harry “look at me,” but he didn’t mention lily’s eyes.
What a heartwarming addition to the series… snape’s death is a tearjerker. Arguably the most important character in the entire franchise
R.I.P Alan Rickman.
Fantastic actor.

It's funny to think that though Snape always despised Harry, he was extremely relieved for Harry to be the last person Snape saw. Because: Harry has his mother's eyes, and Snape was so glad to at least have one last look at Lily's eyes before he died.
Also RIP Alan Rickman 🙁
Yep....raise your wands ...for Alan.....

Harry despise him only because of how cruel he is to himself and others but snape projected his hatred and jealousy of James onto harry lily son
I wouldn’t say he despised Harry. It’s just painful for him. He’s basically looking at the child of his worse childhood bully and the love of his life. He loved him because he was the son of Lily, but hurt that he too was the son of James. Throughout the series, Snape does so much to protect and guide Harry. He’s just cold because he hated James for not just bullying him, but stealing from the only person he ever loved.
When snape was telling harry "his got his mother's eye" he meant not the eye colour but he sees so much of Lilly in harry and less like his father.
Aniii x At that moment, before he would pass, he finally accepted the past and found peace. He didn’t just love Lily, he also loved Harry.
I love this version of Snape's death more than the book because Snape says "You have your mother's eyes" and finally sees Harry for the kindhearted man he is, and sees Lily's kindness and love through his eyes, thus finally respecting Harry after so many years of despising him. I also like how Snape begs Harry and says "take them please". These two things aren't in the book.
Nagini is actually terribly inefficient. Voldemort clearly says "kill" and yet Snape's still alive after he leaves. Terrible micromanagement.
Voldemort should consider deducting payment from Nagini's salary.
And now Duran Duran's song "Union of the Snake" makes so much sense.
Cherry Martini I'm sure if that is what Voldemort had intended from the get go his orders would have been more like "Poison him, so he can relate crucial exposition to Potter before he dies from your poison." Something like that.

Maturing is understanding the villians
I dont even know why voldemort killed him tbh couldn't he just use like expeliarmus and gain the loyalty that way like what draco did
@@quverty2385 in the book it says that vmort believed killing was the only way to obtain the wands loyalty not disarming. And tbh with vmort, I don’t think he’d do much less anyway. Seemed to love killing people.
@@robn3732 thats kinda weird the way one of the most powerful wizards did not know about such a simple thing

Perhaps the most emotional loss HP fans have endured following the franchises’ success has been that of Alan Rickman, who died suddenly in 2016 at the age of 69. Like fellow Potter castmate Roger Lloyd Pack, Rickman passed away from pancreatic cancer after only telling close friends and family that he was terminally ill. His casting as Severus Snape is often hailed as the best in the entire Potter franchise.
Snape’s simultaneous hatred of Harry and protection of him over the course of the eight films made him one of the most multifaceted characters in J.K. Rowling’s universe, and Rickman explored every shade of the Potions Master with the depth that only a true master could. His death was felt by all who adore the films, especially since many of them had yet to recover from Snape’s equally heartbreaking death in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part Two.
Roger Lloyd Pack was Trigger from only fools and horses he always will be
since the snake killed him, the wand now belong to the snake.
Lmao, that's not too far fetched. For being so renowned as the most dastardly wizard to ever live, Voldemort was not very clever.
*"I'll make all these Horcruxes but hide them in places all relevant to Hogwarts, 'cept this one, but I'll take him with me while I attack Hogwarts."*

When u look at it the only ones he died still loving was lily and Harry
PLOT TWIST: The elder wand did belong to snape and now Nagini is the master of the elder wand and now neville is the elder wand master 0_o
Cadifinal Damn neville
True, because Nagini killed Snape, and Neville killed Nagini.
Alishba Syed nope, because the true owner isn’t the one who shall kill the current master of the wand, it is the one who disarms him. Dumbledore took the Elder Wand out when faced against Draco by purpose, because then Draco would disarm him, making him the true owner of the wand. Then, Snape would kill Dumbledore, and since Voldemort thought that death was the worst thing, he wouldn’t even think about disarming or killing Malfoy, but only Snape. Then, Harry disarmed Draco, meaning that Harry was the master of death a.k.a he owned the three deathly hallows (the invisibility cape, the resurrection stone and now the elder wand) so that when he did meet his faith and went against Voldemort in the forest, he wouldn’t fully die, but only the Horcrux part of him (btw I haven’t reread the books since 3 yrs. so maybe a bit of my infos were wrong)

I’m a 32-year-old man and I cry every time I watch this scene. David Yates, Alan Rickman and Alexandre Desplat are just masters. Hat's off.
Snape who was head of Slytherin..was killed by a snake..ironic
Died as a Slytherin who ended up protecting another Slytherin from a insane slytherin Psycho who brought shame to the whole group.
If this scene isn't reason to love Harry, I don't know what does. He didn't even know the truth and when Snape was dying, he showed him some sort of sympathy. Went to his side and gave him company.
Nagini is actually a person. It will probably be explained in Crimes of Grindelwald.
Very emotional scene.... Alan Rickman is the best choice for Severus Snape... R.I.P.
The face expression.....of snape....
Does anyone find it ironic Snape was killed by a snake
Since he’s the head of Slytherin house and it’s symbol is a snake and his downfall was by a snake
If not ironic, I would say symbolic
Draw and Sketch nagini is actually a human
Yeah but I think he never really was a Slytherin Because dumbledore said it once sometimes I think we're too hasty to sort he knew how brave snape was and I honestly believe he was always a Gryffindor
It's also ironic how when the first time we ever hear him speak he claims he can put a stopper in death. Yet he couldn't stop himself from dying. A master of potions and yet didn't protect himself from venom. I imagine there's a lot of ironic things about Snape lol.
@@noneyabizz5306 If that was me, I'd have put on my headstone "I said I could protect against venoms, NOT throat cutting, blood loss, shock, and snake bite lacerations you idiots!"
Harry always liked it when people told him that he had his mother's eyes. It registered as a compliment in his sub conscious so when that compliment came from the man he hated the most, it was shocking and strangely comforting.
I feel that since Harry also tried to sort of help by putting his hand on the bleeding spot, Snape also felt a sense of shock and comfort as he looked into his eyes and saw the eyes of the love he lost.
Masterful acting and really brilliant music, especially the bit that cuts to Harry holding the flask and how the strings come and go but leave behind an emotion of panic.
I'll admit at first I was always confused why Severus looked terrified that Voldemort was going to kill him when he knew exactly the risks he was taking in accepting Dumbledore's task. Then I realized, it wasn't that Severus was afraid to die, nah, I don't think so, especially since he'd want to see Lilly again. I think he was more afraid of dying before telling Harry everything he had to know. It was probably a morbid relief to Snape that Voldemort had Nagini attack him where he'd die slower and have time rather than an immediate death by Avada Kedvara
Who else cried at this scene? *softly cries in the background when Snape says " You have your mother's eyes"*
"you have your mothers eyes" has been said almost EVERY movie and BOOK but this scene just hits more when severus says it cause of the chemistry between Lily and Severus

technically the snake killed him so it belongs to the snake
By that logic he would be the owner of the wand since harry is a part of him and also disarmed draco, so that much is false.
· Jxzy · It was Harry’s wand, because Harry got the wand of Draco’s to him at the mansion scene. Because Draco got the wand of Dumbledore before Snape killed him.
It is who ever disarms not kills
And that night Draco disarms dumbledore then harry disarms Draco do the elder wand never belonged to snape therefore it did not answer to Voldemort hence harry beat him easily when nagini was killed by Neville
well if we're going to just forget that Draco was the master,
if snape was the master and the snake killed him, you realize that the snake is Voldemort in a sense. So it would still belong to him either way if that logic was applied
It not that it has to be whoever disarms the wielder, its that Voldemort couldn't comprehend the idea of winning without killing your enemy, so he was blindsided by the wand having already changed hands

Also snape: this must be a record I don’t think any house has been negative in points this early
Honestly, Snape's death was the most heartbreaking for me, he has always been one of my favourite characters.
The saddest part of his death is how unnecessary it was. He was killed so Voldemort could have the Elder Wand, even though Snape never owned it to begin with, and even if it did belong to him, all Voldemort had to do was disarm him. Makes this scene that much worse if you ask me.
Voldemort always saw killing as the only option
true for voldemort it's never about making sense in a "all he had to do" he saw an opportunity to kill so he killed him
Snape also died so we would know his true character and to tell Harry what to do to defeat Voldemort
Faisal Koukash And that led to his downfall. If snape thought voldemort wouldn't have killed Lily he would have never betrayed him
Voldemort didn’t know disarming also works, the elder’s wand have always been fought over and pass hands with killings through out history.
And yeah, snape wasn’t even the owner of the wand because Draco disarmed Dumbledore, and Harry later disarmed Draco.
It was Harry’s wand at the moment.
Severus protected Harry, again.
But still, Snape was one of the best wizards I’ve ever know, and the most loving one, too.

@@rorymckernan502 maybe your right cause I read and it says yes he was bitter with Harry cause of James and it didn't help that Harry didn't like snape but it says however part of snape outward behavior towards Harry was because of Voldemort so Voldemort won't know he protecting harry
Now nagini is the owner.
Exactly!!!!
Hector Palacios the wand works by disarming . Draco disarmed Dumbledore and he got the wand . Then while Harry was at Malfoy manor he disarmed Draco . Therefore , Harry is the true owner . The wand works on that
So Snape died for nothing
Damn right. This may sound bad, but I can see why JK Rowling killed him though. It just would not have been the same tragic devastating story if Snape survived. Dying is sometimes how people will really learn to respect you.
well no, because voldemort slashed his neck before the snake bit him but not killing him. He died because of the injury caused by voldemort to his neck

@Shubham Kanojia ok maybe that's can be one of the possible reasons
@Shubham Kanojia the enchanted bag is not called the Essence of Dittany. It is a bag which contains the "Essence of Dittany" used to heal magical and non magical wounds. The bag you talk about is something Hermione enchanted so that it contains everything they need, all shrunken up.
Well, in the books she conjured it , she didn't have it in her bag. So that makes sense
