    A set of rings and a dog, don't forget the dog. Brilliant Papi cameo slipped in there 😎

      I have decided I will now feature a dog cameo in every non interview video I post.
      Because we don’t deserve dogs, and they should be immortalized

      My daughter being a gymnast for 13 years opened my eyes to that world. I saw the ridiculous strength and physiques they built with progressive body weight training, and on rings for the boys/men. The rest is history, I have a lot more fun training and his way than I ever did lifting in a gym. Not there is anything wrong with traditional lifting. I think you should do what fits your lifestyle and you find the most enjoyable (or hate the least 😂)

      I consider rings to be practically an entire gym. At least for the upper body.
      I'm the only one using rings in my gym. People simply don't understand how effective they are!

      Thank you. It’s funny how everything in life is mental. I hardly posted any content on here for 2 years, partly because I started watching all these experts on video production and ended up feeling like none of me videos looked good enough.
      I fell into the trap of seeking optimal and perfect instead of just being consistent with good enough.
      They very thing I warn people not to do with their training I did with my content.
      We are all so similar… anyway, thanks for watching and commenting

    Mind-muscle connection: is being able to see your muscle while training any part of it?

    • @JerryTeixeira
      @JerryTeixeira  11 месяцев назад +1

      Not physically see it, but think about it and focus on it. Focus on how it feels as it contracts. Of course, in the case of biceps you can safely look at them too when curling

    A good pair of exercises! And all you need specificly for arms.
    As you said, pushing and pulling does a lot for the arms. About 80 % of what you need, in my opinion.
    I see a lot of beginners grinding out bicep curls with dumbells in the gym. (And raising the elbows at the end, making them pretty ineffective!) I think beginners should do no specific arm exercises the first year. You can't grow arms until your body has made some growing. So, pull and push exercises should be a priority at first. And they do enough for the arms the first year!
    Push exercises are enough for 2/3 of triceps. What's missing is triceps longum. So I finish off the triceps with your triceps extentions in rings, directly after my push exercises. They are perfect for triceps caput longum!
    Biceps curls in rings are effective. But more mentally challenging than with weights, I think.
    I used to do them high, with the elbows practicalky unmoving.
    Now I do them in a manner reminding of chin-ups. Ending with the elbows back, close to the body, and elbows close to the shoulders, instead of close to the ears. Pretty much in the same position as in a strict biceps curl with a bar.
    I think it's worthwhile to experiment with this, because it's a difficult thing to get right.
    Your variant is something between what I used to do, and what I do now. But you don't bend your elbows enough, in my opinion! Probably because you don't move the elbows back as much as I do now.
    When you do the biceps curls in my style, you have the bands pulling against the biceps at an optimal angle at the end of the movement. You can't get that with weights!
    Sometime I might do supersets with these two exercises.

      Agree, weights are for straight forward for things like curls, but you can still get it done with rings.
      I am certainly not against weights at all, but personally enjoy body weight training and so I focus on BW with the exception of adding some dumbbells to help overload lower body

    Didn't realise triceps are larger volume than biceps. Genetically I think I inherited spaghetti arms, eg knee push-ups only, how many years, months😅

    • @JerryTeixeira
      @JerryTeixeira  11 месяцев назад +1

      Hey Angela, how wide are you putting your hands for those push-ups?
      You want your upper arm to be at about a 45 degree angle relative to your torso. So you don’t want your elbows out too wide.
      The other thing I suggest is to place your hands on your coffee table or couch and do push-ups that way.
      Meaning, feet ok the floor, hands elevated on the couch. But not on your knees
      This way your core and your hips are developing the strength you need for full push-ups too, make sense?

    • @larsnystrom6698
      @larsnystrom6698 11 месяцев назад

      @angeladavies
      Pushups in rings are more effective and better for the shoulders.
      The basic form is with elbows close t9 the body, and rings-turn-out at the end.
      With rings you can adjust the load by changing the height.
      So, you can keep the entire body straight.
      You get a plank exercise for free!

    Very interesting, I am experiencing elbow pain when doing push-ups or using weights. Never tried rings & assume it would be the same? Can you tell me if my assumption is true? Thanks for the high quality content.

      Where’s the pain, inside or outside of elbow? When did it start? Give me a little more detail and I may be able to help a bit

    • @mgn2949
      @mgn2949 11 месяцев назад +1

      Ok,let me try and describe it. If u were to hold your arm out straight in front of u , palm facing down, then bend your arm so the your hand moves towards your chest. The pain is on the top of the elbow, the part of the joint closest to the body, not the point of the elbow. Pain started about 3 months ago. Any clues appreciated….thanks

      Yes, I was doing a lot of digging using a short handled spade that had to be swung by bending at the elbow, like chopping wood but at ground level. You are spot on.
