I bought a series of manga in Japanese, and my goal is to be able to read them all as a treat to myself. I have the dubbed anime, but I am avoiding watching it, so I have the sence of accomplishment. I need to get on my Japanese studies.

It's crazy that I was walking there from Namba almost every day just 3 weeks ago! I came to enjoy Den-Den Twon just as much as Akiba with a more relaxing pace and the proximity to thousands of restaurant in Dontobori. Take me back!!!
You'll love it! There's a few more to come :-) I didn't go to Kobe but it's so close - if I went back it'd be on my list! My friends went on a day trip to Mount Koya which looked amazing. I went on a little half-day trip to Minoh Park - not far away & there's a waterfall!
There is a video coming up - we miiight get to it before you go! If you're doing other countryside things I'd say Kobe, or if you fancy a break from the city, go for Minoh. It's really a half-day trip I'd say.

@@TheRealKarmaquarius It's always worth checking if your airline allows two checked bags. In the past I've taken an empty holdall inside my suitcase just in case, or even packed a medium suitcase inside a larger one, although I've never bought that much that I've needed it! My friends have shipped stuff home when they bought a lot - I believe they used either the Post Office or Takkyubin (with the cute cat logo!).

I was supposed to go here back in January 2018 during my first trip to Kyoto. Didn't push through because I found the Nendoroid I was looking for at a Toranoana Comics in Teramachi Dori in Kyoto, and time constraints.
@@cakeswithfaces Several around Teramachi-Dori actually. You just need to look carefully. I even found an Animate and also a few hobby shops that sell figures too. Essentially hidden gems. And there's in fact two Lashinbang branches in Kyoto: one near Nishiki Market, on top of a 7-Eleven, and another near Kyoto Station.
@@RenerDeCastro Thanks for the tip! It seems lots of cities have sections with figures and manga, etc - not just the famous districts like Akihabara and DenDen Town. I found quite a few in Sapporo recently.

I know this video was uploaded almost a year ago but I was wondering if there are elevators in some shops? I have a big fear of escalators plus with my disability escalators are hard anyways. Are there elevators or just normal stairs?
Answering this more about Akihabara as I'm more familiar with it (I've only been to DenDen Town once but it's quite similar in many ways). Pretty much all games arcades do have elevators. The larger stores have elevators for sure (like Kotobukiya, Radio Kaikan, Animate, Akiba Culture Zone, Super Potato), but not the smaller places. While most shops have multiple floors, there is stuff on ground level that's accessible - although a lot of shops are a bit cramped with not a huge amount of space (I don't want to put you off - just trying to give a realistic picture). Elsewhere, shopping malls, department stores, stations and larger shops have elevators, and you'll sometimes find them eg between two buildings to get to the upper floors, where you might not necessarily have expected to find one - I guess when buildings have so many floors, no one wants to take the stairs! This gives me a better understanding, I’m fortunate enough that I can still walk (somtimes need a wheelchair) but as long as some shops are some what accessable then I can work my way around whatever issues may I face (crowds ect). If I can avoid escalators at all costs I will 😂. I was meant to be going in October but won’t be happening now so pushed it back to next year hopefully 😅

Did you know that "den" means electric. Denden Town's the Osaka version of Akihabara, which is known as Electric Town. And train = den-sha, which means electric car. Phone = den-wa, which means electric talk :-)

Yes, I live in the UK! It might look like I go to Japan more than I actually do - I just film a lot :-) But really I save up as much as I can. You choose what you want to spend your money on. So I try to live as cheaply as I can in everyday life and not buy things or spend money on going out, so I can save up. Then I shop around for flights and hotels to get the best deal, and wait for sales, etc. Hope you can make it back there sometime! :-)

For figures I'd say wait till you're in Japan as you'll save so much money! They're about a third the price of what you pay at Hyper Japan or comic con. I like how creative the Nintendo consoles are, they always do something a bit different. I really like Overcooked but I'm terrible at it. But my all-time fav will always be dance mat

I've always loved drawing, and to start with Cakes with Faces was just an online gallery of my artwork. I started the shop in 2011, after I'd been working for a couple of years - it's actually Cakes with Faces (the shop)'s 7th birthday at MCM London Comic Con this month! I first went to Japan slightly before that, in 2010 and just always wanted to go back each time! :-)
Not difficult at all! If you have Google Maps you can find it easily, and it's quite easy to spot the arcades and which are the anime merch shops from the shop signs and window displays, etc. Price labels are easy to understand, and you don't really need to say much when you're buying something - just take it to the till and hand over your moneys! :-)
Osaka is kind of strange,... the people are too friendly but they have yummy food compared to Chiba,... it's really weird to see all the Korean tourists at Osaka castle,... I just feel upside down in this place, but yeah, the people here are really nice,...
@@cakeswithfaces Tokugawa utterly trashed the castle in the Summer Campaign of 1615,... hahaha! then he had to rebuild it for security reasons but made the other clans pay for it (^_^) ... and then it got destroyed during the Boshin War,... I think by the 1930's the city government said ' screw it, we're rebuilding this with concrete! '

I think the good stuff gets snapped up quickly in Akihabara, so if you go outside Tokyo there are some great finds, and lower prices! :-)

I've always loved drawing, and to start with Cakes with Faces was just an online gallery of my artwork. I started the shop in 2011, after I'd been working for a couple of years - it's actually Cakes with Faces (the shop)'s 7th birthday at MCM London Comic Con this month! I first went to Japan slightly before that, in 2010 and just always wanted to go back each time! :-)

How difficult is it to get around Den Den Town if you can barely read any Japanese?
Not difficult at all! If you have Google Maps you can find it easily, and it's quite easy to spot the arcades and which are the anime merch shops from the shop signs and window displays, etc. Price labels are easy to understand, and you don't really need to say much when you're buying something - just take it to the till and hand over your moneys! :-)

Osaka is kind of strange,... the people are too friendly but they have yummy food compared to Chiba,... it's really weird to see all the Korean tourists at Osaka castle,... I just feel upside down in this place, but yeah, the people here are really nice,...
I had a lot of fun just visiting there! The friendly people and the food were all I'd really heard about before I went... And the Glico sign! 😝
@@cakeswithfaces Tokugawa utterly trashed the castle in the Summer Campaign of 1615,... hahaha! then he had to rebuild it for security reasons but made the other clans pay for it (^_^) ... and then it got destroyed during the Boshin War,... I think by the 1930's the city government said ' screw it, we're rebuilding this with concrete! '
