A Cast Member gave me this tip when scanning my LL passes: Keep the phone in the scanner and swipe through all of the passes. No need to pull the phone out and reinsert for every pass.
Chris I think that message was meant just for me. I’ve been planning our family trip to Disney in late August since January. All these closures, price increases, and changes have had me feeling disheartened. Call back times on LLMP look much longer than on original Genie+, almost as though they’re throttling them. We’re bringing our 3 kids and every day, I find myself mindlessly worrying that the parks will be slammed, that we won’t get on many rides, even with LLMP, that the kids will complain, that we’ll argue. But you’re so right, and your message hit me square in the heart. It’s about the memories and the time and the experience. Not the number of rides or the crowds or the worries. Thanks for the perspective, as always. Your videos are so much more than park tips and I appreciate everything you do! ❤
Thanks! You are the "Mr Rogers" of all RUclips Channels....not meant in a snarky way. I absolutely thought the world of Fred Rogers & was very lucky to meet Mr Rogers & Mrs Rogers many many many times in my hometown
I just saw your personal message at the end! My mom passed away 4 years ago. This weekend my best friend's mom passed away. While he was here and we talked we were looking at old photos. We found a picture of us in the early 90s in Germany's PHANTASIALAND that we attended with our moms. I have no idea what rides we rode and what we did. But I remember that we had an amazing time that no single ride could surpass. It is all about connections and experiences no matter where you are :) Thank you Chris and Amanda!
Thank you for the reminder that this is about creating memories. My parents were fortunate enough to share Disneyland with me. Now I’m doing it with my own wife and son. The memories are what live on. ❤
Your message to parents and grandparents or anyone taking kids to Dland at the end? Pure Gold! I've seen too many parents snapping at their children at Dland, everyone's tired and they seem to be so stressed out. I agree 100% with you, Chris - I wish the parents would take it easy, have a relaxing day with their kids, stop and even let the kids NAP in a shady spot or inside the Starbucks at DCA or something. Make sure everyone eats and drinks so no one is hangry, etc. -- Make it as stressless a day as possible.
Comment you make at 18:39 is THE MOST IMPORTANT. Been taking my son to Disneyland almost yearly since he was 4. He's now in his mid-20's and still wants to go with mom. Thank you, Chris for all your videos. Excellent source of information...BRAVO!
Love your message at the end. So true. My grandma and grandpa took my sister every summer for 7 years until my grandma passed away. Our memories are a few rides usually when my grandma would get soaked on splash mountain and the rest of us were dry, watching parades, the treats, but mostly just being in the magic with them ❤ i strive to create similar memories with my kids
Wow that personal message at the end was incredible Chris. So well put I think you will help a ton of people with that one, not that you don't already help a ton of people.
I'm taking the family to Disneyland next week, for our first visit ever. I am so glad I found your videos, because it has done a TON for my anxiety level going into this, and I now feel a lot more prepared and less nervous that I will miss something and bomb the entire trip. Thank you for all the videos you do!!! Especially this one, because as someone completely new.... It was a very confusing concept until you helped with all the small details!
While the content of this video is undoubtedly helpful to Disney visitors, i can say that as someone who grew up going to Disneyland multiple times per year through the 70s to the 90s and then only once in 2011 - my forthcoming Disney visit is freaking me out because attending the park has turned into an insane technology gamer situation. I'm gonna just hope for the best for the few rides i want to partake (maybe i'm the dummy for thinking this way) because my head will explode if i have to lock down all the secrets and tips! THANK YOU, sir, for your great message near the end about being present and spending time with any children rather than trying to 'game the system' all day. Best takeaway for me.
Don't fret, my wife and I go every year for our anniversary. We don't waste money on that Lightning Lane/Genie + garbage. Just enjoy your time there like you used to, get in to the standby queues and wait your turn. Yes, the LL slows down the Standby queue, but I REFUSE to pay Disney even MORE money when the price to get through the gate is already through the roof and the cost of food and souvenirs are super high as well. I've yet to have a trip down there where I wasn't able to ride all the rides I wanted to except once, but that wasn't due to the line, it was due to the ride breaking down multiple times while we were visiting (Rise of the Resistance).
I bought genie+ for all three days for our family mainly because it was cheaper than buying photopass on its own and I want photos 😂 I am not going to stress too much about it as I don’t want to be glued to my phone either and prefer to enjoy it as it comes, hoping for the best also. I have no problem waiting.
This was a sneaky way for Disney to increase the cost of the tickets but on the back end.... they took a free service and charge $30 for it fundamentally changing the full ticket price by $30. At the same time offering a watered down experience for those who cant afford the exorbitant ticket price. I miss the free fast pass service.... its not the same.
Back in the day you paid for the ride not the park.... i can see a future were you pay for the park and every ride on top of it will have its own price tag!
100% miss the old days of the original fast pass system. I wanna go back to disney so badly but all these changes make it easy for me to hold off and keep saying ill go next year. Its been like 5 years since I've been back and if I gotta wait another 5 for things to get better then so be it.
I just went back through your videos to find an explanation on Lightning Lane! Thank you for making an update version 😀 I'm heading to Disneyland at the end of February for the first time in 12 years!!
Oh my gosh, thank you for your words at the end of this video. I needed them. We have been saving and saving to take our 5 and 7yr olds for the 1st time in Oct. I have been stressing over how special I want it to be since we don't know when we will get the chance to go again. You are right, the memories is what they will remember. Thank you❤
18:37 Man this his home. With the planning and the chaos things get way too hectic. You nailed it - It's not how many rides you get on, quality time is key. Thank you for the reminder!
Thank you Chris for always giving us life lessons...I'm a divorced dad trying my best to give the world to my daughter...and lessons like these totally makes me wiser...Thank you Chris for the positivity always.
I was at the park in July and I used genie+. A few of the things that you said were not my experience. For example, I don’t believe you can use the multi experience passes in fantasy land at all. At least that is what the cast member at Alice told me. He said they changed that policy two years ago. Also, I recommend booking lightning lanes early once you see that the return time is after 10 AM. Because you can go on the app and push the time back. But you can book your next one two hours after the original Booking. For example, say it is 8:30 AM and you look at the app and the return time for Indiana Jones is at 10 o’clock. Go ahead and book it. Then at 9:55 you can push it back to the new return time, say at 1 PM. You can still book your next lightning lane two hours after the original booking so at 10:30 AM. I did this quite a lot. It ended up stacking my lightning lines for later in the day by pushing the times back again and again. They did not seem to penalize me for this.
That “message for you” section is such a good thing to remember. My husband and I got really good at “getting our money’s worth” before kids. And now that we have 2 it’s been an adjustment to refocus our attention to what would allow our kid(s) to have the most fun/connection with us.
Had such a trouble navigating it while at the park. Then couldn't find the right screen when I needed to in line to scan in. Wish I would have watched this video. Thanks for covering this.
You have NO idea how much clarity is in the video. It has always been SO confusing. I am taking my brother (who is on the spectrum and will need to be at a different pace than I am used to) and my mom for their first time in 15 years and you made me feel much better and confident in purchasing this for at least one of our days!
A pro tip I picked up from Molly from All Ears. Select your favorite attractions in advance. This will cut down on the scrolling part when you select your next LL. It's easier to scroll through 8 rides as opposed to all the rides. You will still have access to all the rides, but for the ones that go quick it will give you an edge in securing that LL.
So excited for this video!! Been waiting for your take on it. We mastered Genie+ because of your videos and maximized our Disneyland trips :) Thank you 😊
See this is why i say you have a color dot system on your water mark or a line over your water mark with a color and one color is Disney world And one color is Disney land so we know when you talk about restaurants and your going back and forth we know which geographical area you are in. Also other colors for the other parks. I wish all Disney bloggers would do that it would make it more easier for all of us working class people who would do an one and done or live vicariously through your videos. Your channel is great. You are like free therapy. Thanks, I have six mental illnesses so really, thanks.
I yet haven't tried the lighting pass. Went last week and got on almost all rides at a decent wait time. on a super SUPER busy day I might consider it, it will come in handy.
Hey Chris, really appreciate what you do, I’ve been a fan for a long time on my other account and just started following you on this new account I created. I did want to chime in though on something you mentioned in the video. The multi experience pass is not a guarantee when a ride breaks down and you have a lightning lane booked. I work for the resort in the online support department and this has become an issue lately due to videos such as this telling people to book a down attraction. The multi experience pass is going to be issued automatically by the attraction if you’re eligible for it if you do not get it auto generated and reach out the cast members check the history to see if you booked your lightning lane when the attraction was down or if you booked it while it was active, and that can determine whether you are provided a multi experience pass. Again, I love your videos. I think what you do is great. All of your information is usually spot on however, this particular situation has become an issue and they are cracking down on who they are issuing this too so just be advised you are not guaranteed a multi experience pass if you try to work the system 14:47
Chris.... When I go to DL, I want to enjoy the day and simply get in line for whatever ride just like everybody else. No fast, lightning, genie, hippity hoppity, bamboozling way to walk past everyone waiting in line. Everybody... EVERYBODY!!.... gets in the same line and has the same opportunity as everyone to enjoy their awesome time at the Happiest Place on Earth!! That's my rant. Love you guys!
Couldn't agree with you more. I HATE the Genie +/Lightning Lane garbage. The ONLY iteration of this that I liked was the old Fast Pass system where there was a limited number of Fast Passes. You rushed to the Fast Pass station you wanted to get one for, then spent the rest of the day getting in the standby queue with everyone else until your Fast Pass window came open. This extra greed focused Lightning Lane garbage needs to go. It slows Standby down to a CRAWL and even the LL queue backs up and can take a long time to get through. Just ridiculous.
16:16 Did a double-take when you were walking past Haunted Mansion and the construction walls by Harbor Galley were down, then water was flowing over the water wheel at Splash Mountain and all the Tiana’s foliage was missing. Then I figured out what you did. 🤣
One thing I wish you would explain is you get all your pictures with the LLMP. Not your just your ride photos but any pictures you take by a cast member. So if you have a family of 4 I think it's worth getting LLMP for one person just for the photos and make that your picture day. Wait in line in front of the castle, down on Main Street, or my favorite spot in front of the Falcon. Have you matching shirts, or all Disney bound up, I'm a single and I've done it just for the pics itself. I usual bound for Batuu and have so much fun with it.
Provost I just wanna say thank you for your last message. I feel like I really need that one 🤙 Hopefully we get to see in the park the next time we go there..
I've been wanting to visit Disneyland but ouch. Admission, then ouch lighting lane multi pass then ouch the crowds and less fun all day needing to bring 2 10k chargers because having to use the app all freaking day. I use to visit before phones and enjoy a day in the park. Only time I want to pull my phone out is for a photo op.
You can still do that. My wife and I go every year for our anniversary. We never get Lightning Lane, we get in the standby queue like we always have. Yeah, the LL can and does often make the standby queue even longer, but I refuse to be tied to my phone all day when the whole point for me is to UNPLUG from the internet, get away from as many screens as I can, and just enjoy being in the park and having fun on the rides.
@@JTabor1976 only fool here is someone who has lost the ability to find the magic. It's still there, but if someone wants to instead be jaded and prefer to just be negative, that's on them.
I went to the park this summer. Spent a few days there. Bought non-park hopper passes, 2 days for Disneyland, 1 day for DCA. Didn't buy Genie+... had a great time.
I also want to do this too in October when we go…One day each park-No stress of ParkHopper & no LLMP. Did you have any advice or strategy on riding the popular rides other than just be willing to wait in line? Did you just try to ride at opening and before closing??
First off, love your videos! Thanks for all your information. I have a quick question. We are going in a week and I’m a magic key holder. We have 2 17 year olds with us. If I buy the multi pass for them, on my app, will it be linked to their ticket and show up on their own log in of the app also or just on the person who purchased it? I know they will venture off a bit, and want them to be able to book their own return times Lol.... Thanks so much again!
😂😂 love you Chris !! You talk how genie plus is dead then reference genie plus on how to maximize lighting lane multi pass 🤣🤣 just two extra words added to lighting confuses everyone. 🤣🤣 Disney is ridiculous with this new naming !
Wow, that was a really thorough educational video. I actually think I kind of understand it now. But I got a better idea. I wonder if we can hire Chris to escort us around Disneyland for the day. Lol. It seems that the Disneyland system is much more fair than the one in Florida. WDW gives the benefit to people that stay at expensive Disney properties. They get the ability to book rides in advance of those people that can’t afford the expensive rooms and stay someplace else. Now, if Disneyland and CA will get all their rides up and running. 🤷
Hi there! love your videos Chris!!! link for getaway in the description is not working for me... maybe because we are in Panama? we are planning the trip for November :) . thanks!!!!
Should just use the same systems that universal and other parks use. Its been proven with math and simulations that disneys option makes lines longer for everyone and ruins customer exp.
Don't usually comment on YT vids. You seem like a nice, friendly fellow. We had two families in DL during the second week of July. They still sold Genie+, it was $30 per. We had two day, one park passes and it worked fine. We were able to get LL rides throughout the day at the two hour intervals. Of course, you're right. Once you enter head to Space Mountain or Matterhorn. Wonder why the old Rocket Racers venue is still unused? Was there quite a few years ago, it was fun.
So confusing you explained it well. I would keep calling it the Lelu Dallas Muti-Pass. It is Kinda like 6 flags flash pass in a way. With longer wait times. Also most of those apps drains your phone battery so you purchase a charge pack from the gift shops. Universal express lane, you just get it and use it. Thanks for teaching us the broken ride hack! So cool!
Great vid & overview! I’m still confused that it sounds no different from Genie+? WDW seems to have entirely changed their system, but only a name change at DLR?
3:45 Me: *I'M* the planning mom to a family of 4... 🧑🧑🧒🧒 🤣 18:45 Now you got me misty eyed again. I'm really reminding myself of that more and more as the trip gets closer and my planning is *mostly* done.
They keep changing the alternative queue to maximize the amount of money they can squeeze out of people. They certainly are not doing it to help make things easier for guests.
Hey Chris, you started saying Genie+ half way through this video. I just want to know if you misspoke or if you were still referring to LLMP? Like with the 2 hour wait and then being able to book another attraction, is that available with LLMP?
Question, in your example of space mountain going down and getting a multi pass instead. Do you get the multi pass and still retain your ability to book space mountain? Or are you done with your one time use booking of space mountain?
Hey Chris! Love your videos! Just wondering if you would consider doing a video for East Coasters (WDW) who are coming to Disneyland for the first time? What rides should we skip and what rides are "one of a kind" in Disneyland/DCA. Do i waste my time doing Rise or is it the same as WDW? What treats/rides/experiences are purely Disneyland/DCA or at least better because they are different enough from the WDW versions? Thanks as always for your advice and kind words...you make the world a better place!!
I purchased my disney hotel and park ticket package with genie plus. My guess is it will automatically grant me to the new system since I purchased before the change? We visit mid September 🤗
Wish I could go on space mountain lol it just closed for refurbishment... For the second year in a row that during our trip 😂😭 Not to suggest we go annually, we just so happened to be able to make this happen two years in a row. But it doesn't matter, we still missed space mountain again lol
If families come in and aren't too familiar and you are there for like 3 or 4 days I recommended only buying the multi pass just 1 day to knock the big rides out. And standby by the other days. It's really not that bad to stand by most of the time
Hard to read the new name without hearing “Leeloo Dallas Multi Pass” in my head. I actually don’t mind standing in line just taking in the atmosphere, people watching, and talking with my best friend about what kind of plants they used or pointing out tiny details you miss with your nose in your phone. I go to de-stress and LLMP would make me more stressed out. Thanks for the breakdown video though!
Everyone, it sounds like more than it is. I use the service every time I go with just adults and I have fun. Chris, can you still try for an earlier time on a LL reservation?
Disney World’s is so much better than Disneyland’s with the new LL thing. As with everything else they do when it comes to reservations, security check, etc. Hey Disneyland-- TAKE NOTES! Molly of Mammoth Club showed that in WDW you can hold 3 LL at any given time (1 Tier 1 ride, 2 Tier 2 rides). Once you scan into the first one you can immediately get another one - No time wait! Also you can shift the times around a at any time. So as she point out, get the rides you most want as soon as you can and don’t worry about the time because you probably will have the chance to change it later - OR trade it out for a different ride all together! So much better than Disneyland ….
Do you recommend arriving to the park early and once it is opened, go immediately to the Start Wars: Rise of the Resistance or Radiator Springs Racers, and avoid paying the LL Single Pass?
I never knew you can make a new selection every 2 hours and now I feel like I failed every time I've gone to Disneyland! Chris, does that 2 hour rule also work in Orlando?
Are the new LL times slower/harder to get? I've seen videos saying that it seems like they are releasing LL in batches throughout the day, so that it's harder to get an earlier time for some rides
You need to talk about the interview with disability thing you have to go thru I am going in Nov and would like to know the process . I depend on you as I watch your blogs all the time
A Cast Member gave me this tip when scanning my LL passes: Keep the phone in the scanner and swipe through all of the passes. No need to pull the phone out and reinsert for every pass.
This is a great tip, thanks! Will be trying it soon.
thought this was common sense…no wonder people are slowing me down

There is a company that you can pay to book your passes for you! It may be a good option if you don’t want to fuss with all the details.

That message at the end. my heart. thank you! That's why I want to take my kids to Disney for the memories and love. Time together.
Such a helpful video and also, the last few words you said is everything! I appreciate your heart behind the videos

awe I love your last commentary - about making memories.
Thank you Chris! Much needed tip, especially for the cost. Can’t wait to try it out. Also, agree with your ending message. You’re the best! ❤️

I saw that as well. I’m not sure if Disneyland’s version does that.
@@FunAtDisney It worked for me last year.
@@veronicareitherreese6671 That’s good to know! WDW’s LL is so much better though !

I wish all Disney bloggers would do that it would make it more easier for all of us working class people who would do an one and done or live vicariously through your videos. Your channel is great. You are like free therapy. Thanks, I have six mental illnesses so really, thanks.
Im right here at disney land and already using your tips thanks
I'm going to have to rewatch this video when I go in October. This is such a big help!
You are the best, I did not need to watch this video but I did anyway because you are so entertaining.
Hi Chris, I’ve been going to Disneyland when I was 11 years old. I started going there since 2012.
It doesn’t sound like much has changed . Thanks for the video Chris !
Thank you for all you do. You give us such wonderful messages
Same here! I was so confused for a while 😂
And his tie kept changing.
Love your positive energy!
Thank you for great video! Always the best! You are Amazing too!!❤
Provost I just wanna say thank you for your last message. I feel like I really need that one 🤙
Hopefully we get to see in the park the next time we go there..
@Arkved1978 Yeah, it's not even worth it anymore and if you tell me otherwise you're the fool
@@JTabor1976 only fool here is someone who has lost the ability to find the magic. It's still there, but if someone wants to instead be jaded and prefer to just be negative, that's on them.
You are amazing thanks for the good tips
All we want is fast pass and max pass back! It was peak.
came here to find this comment. rip fast pass lol
Has it been rebranded to Lightning Lame yet?
Hi there! love your videos Chris!!! link for getaway in the description is not working for me... maybe because we are in Panama? we are planning the trip for November :) . thanks!!!!
dang this is like the OG fast Pass much better
So cool!
I got the down ride LL golden ticket a couple of times, agreed you kind of want it to break down to get it! 😂
Thank you for the video
Great vid & overview! I’m still confused that it sounds no different from Genie+? WDW seems to have entirely changed their system, but only a name change at DLR?
3:45
Me: *I'M* the planning mom to a family of 4... 🧑🧑🧒🧒 🤣
18:45
Now you got me misty eyed again. I'm really reminding myself of that more and more as the trip gets closer and my planning is *mostly* done.
You’re going to have a blast.
Dropping a thank you for clarifying right up front that this doesn’t apply to WDW.
They keep changing the alternative queue to maximize the amount of money they can squeeze out of people. They certainly are not doing it to help make things easier for guests.
The mouse is an expert grifter.
Hey Chris, you started saying Genie+ half way through this video. I just want to know if you misspoke or if you were still referring to LLMP? Like with the 2 hour wait and then being able to book another attraction, is that available with LLMP?
You do such a great job with these helpful vids, thanks Chris.
last oct we did genie+ and didn't use it this year were not sure we are going to buy it.
Question, in your example of space mountain going down and getting a multi pass instead. Do you get the multi pass and still retain your ability to book space mountain? Or are you done with your one time use booking of space mountain?
Are the photos around the park that the cast member photographers take also included like they were with genie plus?
or using a Magic Band+ there is also your LL MP pick to use for LL
"What a rebel." 😂 But seriously, great info!!
So much work! Kinda sucks the fun out of it. But excellent video. Thanks for the info.
We were at Disneyland and DCA week of Aug 21, it was filled with people and it was too hot! And Lightning Lane is hard to get on to.
Do you know if you loose your LL reservation if you leave the park and go back to your Disneyland hotel room for a bit, before your return time?
I purchased my disney hotel and park ticket package with genie plus.
My guess is it will automatically grant me to the new system since I purchased before the change? We visit mid September 🤗
do you think i can save my apple cash digital card on the app for ordering food? instead of my debit card?
Wish I could go on space mountain lol it just closed for refurbishment... For the second year in a row that during our trip 😂😭
Not to suggest we go annually, we just so happened to be able to make this happen two years in a row.
So it's the same thing as Genie but faster because you can schedule another ride while in line now?
Yes
Sorry if I missed that part of the video but what changed between genie plus and the new LL?
I never knew you can make a new selection every 2 hours and now I feel like I failed every time I've gone to Disneyland! Chris, does that 2 hour rule also work in Orlando?
Are the new LL times slower/harder to get? I've seen videos saying that it seems like they are releasing LL in batches throughout the day, so that it's harder to get an earlier time for some rides
So basically LLMP is the same as Genie+? Is that what I'm understanding from this? 😅
My dad just got a job offer in California,I’m about to be a family of 1 at Disney for a while 😂
You need to talk about the interview with disability thing you have to go thru I am going in Nov and would like to know the process . I depend on you as I watch your blogs all the time
Any updates for Disney world in FL?
