As a photographer and videographer, I personally like the Omen because of the fact that it provides the SD card slot and a more colour accurate display.
The displays are basically identical as far as color accuracy...the Omen is like 3% better at 74% vs 71% in adobe rgb but they both have 99% srgb. Thats not really big enough difference to be a deciding factor in which the to buy. But the legion pro does get 100 nits brighter.
I'm so glad gaming laptops have gone away from looking so dumb. Four years ago one of the hardest parts of finding a gaming laptop was finding one that didn't look like a child's toy. Generally, I don't care that much about what my laptop looks like. For instance I'd be ok with the look of just about any 2022 gaming laptop. I really hope RGB is the next thing to go. Doesn't really add anything of value except manufacturers get to charge a little extra for it.
I don't know much about the omen 16 but I personally have the omen 17 i7 with a nvidia rtx 3070 and it's a blast to use fast and efficient, plays AAA titles with the greatest of ease, and it's very easy to upgrade it to your specifications
I bought an Omen 15 recently for 1200€ (having it delivered in few days), also saw some Legions, but for me idk, I personally don't like the design and numpad of the Legion. And the extra thickness provided by the ports behind the display. Regarding screen wobble, my personal opinion is that you shouldn't get a laptop with more than 15.6 inch display, if you are looking for budget machines. Less screen, less wobble lol. Currently using my beaten up MSI Gf63 thin and that device was 900€ when I got it years ago xD. Omen gonna be a huge upgrade for me.

I tried the Legion 5i Pro, but the heat on the metal keyboard deck was pretty bad, and the temps were sitting in the high 80s/low 90s for the CPU when gaming, even on balanced performance mode. I returned it and ended up getting a Legion 5 non-Pro with an AMD 6800h/3070Ti combination because it ran cooler and quieter than the 5i Pro. Unfortunately, as neat as a metal keyboard deck and metal bottom seems, they actually heat up more than plastic because plastic is an insulator, and metal is a conductor of heat. The AMD CPU is also more power efficient, and never seems to get much higher than 79-80 degrees most of the time when gaming on balanced performance mode.
@@mohammedomar1870 I haven't measured the max time the Legion 5 with Ryzen 6800H/3070 TI that I have gets, but I can tell you it's easily more than double the Intel 12700h/3070 Legion 5i Pro. Basically, if you want to be able to use your laptop in battery at all, the AMD 6800H is the way to go.

I don't think this should warrant Buyer's remorse, unless your unit is defective. The comparison seemed almost a draw, with a slight nod toward Lenovo. (until the price difference is revealed.)
Hi, very nice review indeed. Even though I have to say that I've just bought an Omen 16 and there's no wobbling in the screen as in the model you review in the video. Maybe they have improved that.

Omen is much cheaper, and I like the design more. Too bad it's plastic in the bottom. But im probably going for Omen just because of the design and price alone.
Great comparisons videos. As a side note, you don't even need to bend screens manually to check for screen wobbling. Right after you opened both laptops lids and released hand off lids - you can see Lenovo stopped much sooner than hp. It is more natural test than manual bending as it removes human factor. I am a student from Odisha, India...Going to purchase HP Omen 16, Based on performance, its neck to neck but what differentiates my decision is the ""DIWALI" offer that HP gives over any other brand here in India. Its insane how at RS.1,34,500(1631$) at an offline retailer, HP gives you 2 year extended warranty, HyperX accessories, Omen Bag pack and 3 years of Antivirus for absolutely free that too preinstalled MS OFFICE 2021. Whereas Lenovo Legion 5i Pro goes to a price of 1,53,000($1863) for just the laptop. Went for too much research to select my top three laptops as Acer Predator Helios 300, HP Omen 16 and Lenovo Legion 5ipro.....and this video is that final stamp before confirming the purchase which basically clears my doubt of performance issues of HP Omen over its competitors.
legion 5i pro given max tgp 140watt for 3060 whereas omen gives 115 watt. hp has done many cost cuttings as well, like with micron ssd. legion uses samsung pro. I have a hp laptop, and it has a lot of quality issues. Legion series is also known for its build quality and performance. The lower tgp allows hp to use a cheaper cooling system. I am also looking to buy one, but can't decide between omen's low cost and legion's better quality... there aren't many video comparisons for rtx 3070ti 115watt (omen) vs rtx3070 150 watt (legion). That depends on you. If you value performance,go for 2021. The slim usually sacrifice quite the performance for it's compactness
Screen wobble on hp omen while typing is so irritating (I have 16 2021 model and it is the same bul...) :(
Is the wobble noticeable ? I travel a lot !
@@nazdhillon994 If you keep your laptop stable, it's fine but if you move it a little bit, it wobbles a lot (All hp laptops)
@@singhmp thanks ! does it wobble when typing or using the trackpad too bro ?
@@nazdhillon994 If you keep it on flat surface, it doesn't wobble (It does wobble under high speed fan though)
Does the HP Omen 16 have a MUX Switch ?
is the audio of pro low?
Does HP Omen (016) have any known heating issues?
Do you know any other information that led you to select hp over lenovo?
@@SantoshSatvikL I mean been using since 3 days. I am a beginner level 3D Artist and Graphic Designer and lemme tell you first Legion is way overpriced than HP Omen but comparing nearest two options would be Acer PREDATOR HELIOS 300 and HP Omen 16 , Gotta tell those little cross cuttings here and there feel nothing significant in extensive usage. It's just a 19.5-20 difference. Ofc 144HZ screen is a drop but me who was using a 60HZ screen before , for me it's heaven....
The cooling is absolutely beastly.
I mean any of the option you go for , whether it's ASUS TUF F15 or HP OMEN 16 or Acer PREDATOR HELIOS 300 or Lenovo Legion 5i or 5i Pro.....It's all same if it has same Intel processor coz a 5-10 W difference in TDP of Processor doesn't make a lot of difference. Ofc any laptop at this price would give far far far higher performance than 70-80 K RS ones....
@@potattonaik I was talking about GPU TGP, not CPU TDP. rtx 3060 at 140W gives much more performance than at 100W
@@SantoshSatvikL Yep I mean I was watching some bench mark videos it's almost same hardly a FPS drop of 7-13 FPS doesn't bother much when already the FPS is too high
@@potattonaik what software 3d did you use?
How temp it work? thank you
I would like to draw attention to the fact that the products of the hp brand do not always come out of the factory with the same quality. Even a product you buy for 3000$ can come with IPS glow and bleeding. But lenovo products always leave the factory with a certain quality.
i have an hp laptop for 20 years, how old are you
@@georgeducas5771 ı have multiple laptop same time. Asus hp lenovo :)
Best one everytime lenovo thinkbook thinkpad series
5:45 "random grouping of extra keys" - that's actually a standard layout of a tenkeyless keyboard. It's a big plus for Omen, it's a shame you presented it that way.
ben mah man - i5 12500 & RTX 3050 with 16 gigs of ddr5 ram, also gen4 ssd, if that matters, is this adequate for medium quality settings 1080p gameplay, say for the next 3-4 years?
should be since you can also use DLSS/FSR if need be.
Can you review the new Lenovo IdeaPad gaming 3i i5 12th .. RTX 3050 2022 when it becomes available plz 😁🥺
What TGP on Omen's GPU ? Is it still 115w from last year ?

My omen says 140 watts for maximum graphics power in Nvidia control panel. I have the 2022 3060 model.
@@PropertiesForSaleInJamaica you have omen 16? How many watts is the charging adapter?

It's like most reviewers forgot hp omen existed in 2022
The big reviewers ONLY review the NEWEST stuff. ;)
In this comparison legion is clearly winner. But bro make comparison on legion 5i pro 2022 vs Dell g15 special edition 2022. I think this will be tough for legion 😂
I had the 2021 version of both. Returned the HP because BIOS is gimped and louder than Lenovo
Soo true. The bios is locked and useless
hey the link is for a 3050ti
Dell g15 5521 special edition 6gb rtx 3060 review please
Bro omen 16 rtx 3060 watt ??
Are you sure you are using the 12 gen intel version 2022 hp Omen, 'cause this new model is supposed to have vents on both sides (& the back) and ports on the back. Check and be sure. That was the improvement in the thermal solution that Hp introduced in the new models that were released this summer 2022
Mine is as u described and 140 watts for the gpu
Now on micro center its available hp omen 17 3070ti i7 12700 32ram Ddr5 2tb ssd for 1899 and legión 5 pro same specs just 1tb ssd for 1799 wich one should i buy please Help guys im in a hurry to get a laptop because i will be traveling in the next days
which one did you get ?
@@kainatil i bought the legion 5, I have it for 1 week, then I returned to Microcenter and bought a 3080 Rtx with a i5 so I end up building a desktop pc to take it to my country. i have an omen 15 and i would pick the Omen 16
I had nothing but bad experiences with HP. My first laptop from HP was the Dr Dre HP envy. Came to me with problems right off the bat. Then customer service was horrible. So yeah I would buy a Lenovo over a HP.
where did you buy your hp, from a used car salesman? mone wrks 10 and 20 years

i feel sorry for you; you shuld be reviewing the omen i9 17" RTX 4090 QHD (2560 x 1440), 240 Hz, 3 ms
While you've stated the Omen 16 has 8:5 screen, if I heard correctly, I think you might have been wrong about it - the SKUs I've seen in the wild seem to come with the "regular" 16:9 1440p compared to 8:5 1600p of the Lenovo...
i7-12700h CPU is locked and can't be undervolted or overclocked which really sucks.
it's weird because the i5-12500h can be undervolted quite easily
unless you have HP which locks the BIOS
Asus strix g15 vs lenovo legion 5i??
in general the legion is in a higher class of laptops. a better comparison would be using the Zephyrus models from Asus (the premium step up from the Strix models). performance wise, they should be similar if the specs are similar.
i have the 3070version of that legion amazing laptop
What about the Legion 5i pro vs. the Legion 5 pro AMD?
better CPU for the Intel model, better battery life for the AMD model. inte model also offers thunderbolt 4. the AMD laptops are generally cheaper.

Legion is more expensive, so it should be better than the Omen.
legion 5 i pro is not all alluminum chassis the keyboard deck is plastic !
