they are dividing it in 2 because the book has far more detail they are going to take from. 2 of the people on the call sheet we've seen are characters that have only been in the book for example. that PLUS new songs including songs that didnt make the cut for the original musical due to runtime. im so excited!!!

I'm fortunate enough to have seen the stage show twice (once in Atlanta and once in Chicago), and I think the decision to split it into two movies is to get as much cash out of it as possible. Regardless, I'm very excited to see it! It's especially unfortunate it'll be split into two films because there are people (like you) who've never seen it and won't get to enjoy the full story in one sitting without waiting for both movies. It's a beautiful story and I hope they do it justice. This trailer made me teary-eyed, so hopefully they're on the right path! Fun fact: This director also directed Crazy Rich Asians and In The Heights (the movie version). Lastly, seeing you so excited to see it makes me happy. Like I said, it's a beautiful story.
