Do not encourage others to do it. We are not suppose to drive semi slicks in the rain... rain fell hard right before a race and it made lots of pro racers look like noobs with almost a quarter of the grid spining or crashed out.
Driving a powerful rear wheel drive car with semi slick tyre under rain.... Kids nowadays don’t understand the feeling of police officer knocking their parents door. LOL
Thanks for the review. Would love to know how it does at highway speeds, if you experienced any hydroplaning. BTW, are you in/near Salinas CA? Those roads look familiar
My R888R's failed me in the rain last night, Poor ZL1 spun out into the wall. Great track tires but you don't want to get caught in the rain with them what so ever.
Agreed! Jus put a pair on my 500hp mustang I got caught in rain and barely gave it gas on a turn I ended up doin a 180 out of control and just missed a tree luckily I didn't smash it
The reason why they didn't grab like the stock ones is because they don't have the grip that the Goodyear has. When going through a puddle they actually are hydroplaning through the puddles which is why you did not feel them grip and pull you. Tje Goodyear are designed to essentially find the traction and grab onto it so to speak. Not exact science behind it, but you get the idea. Not a good idea to drive a drag radial in the rain at all no matter how many times you get away with it, it is a matter of when you will lose control, not if. Stay safe brothers and sisters
i ordered the new ZL1 1LE the production will starting February for Canadians i hope will have the new ZL1 1LE this spring or summer June or May😦 you can if you want on Michigan for the camaro super fest July 30 July 1 July 2
What do you think of the R888 cruising in the rain? Is it ok to drive because I might get caught in it while driving home from my trip weather forecast are unpredictable. Thanks
I do agree let Jesus take the wheel😁 but also at the same time we have common sense to use, When I see videos like this where guys are using close to slicks the 1st thing that comes to mine is your safety and the safety of others, 1st and foremost look up the different compounds when it comes to rubber that triple 888R is a different compound different from the ultra high performance summer tires, and they have a heat cycle to get up to,I've been doing HPDE events for 4 years I've been racing for the last 15 it's a whole different tire, please be careful in wet and anything below 45゚ that compound becomes as hard as the surface your on,in the summer you are good to go. Just remember since that is a very soft compound made for road racing you will chew those tires up in no time if you are doing a lot of hard acceleration and burnouts if you're just a regular daily driver then you'll get a little bit more use out of them. Be careful and have fun and if you could get it on a road course track you will really see what those tires are truly about they are amazing

And that's why I run Michelin Pilot Sport 4s cause they are good performance tires and you can use em in the rain

I watch this because I trying to decide if I should drive my ZL1 in the rain great vid I’m also goin to the gym lol
Thanks man
I have r888r and they are terrible in the wet and really bad if it is also a cold day. Emergency braking in the wet is not recommended!
Good video 👍! Probably one of the best examples of the R Triple 8's being run on the street in the wet!

Toyo R888'R Is design for the race track on dry days, not wet weather and not everyday driving.

Freeway speeds, 55+mph, and you will hydroplane all day long. Not a very fun thing indeed.
