  • In this video you will see me review the EGO 42cm MOWER.
    We will look at how the mower cuts grass, collects grass and leaves and how easy is it to lift up & down garden steps.
    Plus well look at how easy the striping kit is to put on and dose it actually make a difference.

    You could put a spacing washer under the blade boss to give a lower cut🤔👌

      Yes it's an option I've heard of a lot of people doing that with the stihl 655.

    With a cutting height of 20mm and seeing your results, it makes me wonder about the well known other brands that have a lowest option of 25mm.

    I believe the Toro Battery Proline can be fitted with a roller and of course Hayter now have a battery range of mowers👍🏼

    Very good video and review there thanks,I think the ego engineers may have to look at having a lower setting for their mowers as I've seen that issue you mentioned on other reviews,I was in two minds when purchasing my new mower last march between the petrol honda hrv yxe or the battery ego 2135sp,I went with ego in the end and so glad I did,the mower is a joy to use,less fatiguing,no fuel costs or mess and have since added their multi tool pole saw and pruner plus their line iq strimmer! No more bumping this thing self feeds the line,do you have any interest in doing any other ego tools?it would be great to see as I think its the future

    Great review, I have one and found lowest height not low enough, I did add a washer to get a few mm down and I’m happy, Atco liner has integrated roller as new Stiga. Battery mowers are the future!

    Hi. I saw your also had Stihl mower and blower. I haven’t decided yet with which brand to go. I need mower, blower, string trimmer and rotocut.
    Can you please help and recommend me which brand out of two (or Husqvarna if you tried that too).

    Pros and cons there Dave. I would love to go fully battery on my small mowers but it’s not the right time. I am going to try the hayter battery mower soon.

    • @TheLawnGuy
      @TheLawnGuy  2 года назад +2

      Yes I've heard good thing,
      The 3 main points for going to battery for me is
      1 my arms are shot from vibration damage
      2 rising cost of fuel
      3 more clients working from home require quiter equipment.

      I only use it on a couple of fortnightly lawns. I wouldn't want to do much more with it. But Ego now has the commercial pro mower, so it's definitely worth having a look at.

    Do you think battery mowers will ever catch on for professionals. You would need a powerful battery or carry a lot of batteries, or an in car charger.

    • @TheLawnGuy
      @TheLawnGuy  2 года назад

    While the lawn mower is ok the battery is a complete disaster. It simply does not hold it's charge over time. After just 4.5 years the battery completely failed and won't hold any charge. A replacement battery is not economical and costs nearly as much as the entire lawn mower. A battery with that short of a life is not good for the planet and definitely not good for your wallet. I discussed the problem with Ego but since it was past the warranty period they wouldn't do anything about it. I've also had issues with their trimmer with the string not properly feeding. It's a design flaw as they replaced the defective trimmer and the replacement still has similar problems. My recommendation is to completely avoid Ego products. The battery is subject to fail and their products are not very reliable. Most of the positive reviews on Amazon are based on short-term results. I've been using Ego products for nearly 5 years and won't be purchasing another one of their poorly designed products.

      £189.00 is a lot for a battery... I think that rules Ego out for me. Other brands are cheaper, so it seems. Did you keep your batteries indoors over winter?

    • @daverosenberg2618
      @daverosenberg2618 Год назад +1

      @losoclub The battery was stored indoors so it shouldn't have failed so soon.

    • @knoxieman
      @knoxieman Год назад +1

      @@daverosenberg2618 its actually better for lithium batteries to be stored in cooler temps as long as its dry, also battery care is important, lithium batteries do not like to be stored full or empty you need to make sure you only charge the battery before you use it and dont leave it fully discharged, ive been using lithium powered batteries for 20 years now and its all about management, also you shouldnt think about just price, what price is your health? standing in the fume trail of a petrol mower puts you at a risk of inhaling possibly life changing pollutants just one lungful can be enough, I will never go back to using fossil fuel powered tools oh btw they also fail as well.

    • @daverosenberg2618
      @daverosenberg2618 Год назад

      @knoxieman There's no question that battery-powered lawn mowers are better for your health and the environment. My complaint is not about the concept, it's with Ego and the horribly poor performance of their batteries despite being properly maintained and stored. When I contacted Ego they admitted that their batteries are not designed to last very long. That engineering philosophy undermines our desire to protect the environment. And those batteries are very expensive to replace!
