Thanks
You are a hero dude
Awesome thank you for doing that!
Very good, but have you checked out the Paiste Sound Room online...? My first choice to compare... Regards
I'm usually a Zildjian guy but I gotta admit these are by far the best budget cymbals out there! Got a 16" on my rehearsal kit and it almost sounds as good as my K custom crash! I'm definitely gonna get my hands on more of these!
What do you think about the Stagg DH series? Those are B20 cymbals that sound great and they have a similar price to these.
@@Fucklesticks These PST7's seriously dominate all in this price range, especially the thins and lights.
@@DemonDog444 I agree and one day i will pick up a couple crashes to go with my PST7 hats and China, but i recently found a pair of 2nd hand Stagg crashes and they're a steal for the price. They sound amazing and cost a fraction of a similarly specced b20 cymbal from a known brand like Zildjian.
I’m running Zildjian K Series on my main kit but I’ve just bought a cheap acrylic kit for fun and am definitely gonna get these to go with!
@@tropicoeg4354 They are great cheap cymbals, best i've tried in the price range!
But nothing like a good set of Zildjian K's! Haven't bought a high end cymbal in a while but just got myself a K EFX 18" which is just amazing!

Thanks so much for this comment!
I like the heavies.
I used to have Paiste Signature cymbals that I love and received compliments for both sound and looks but due to hard times I had to sell them along with my kit to make ends meet. I can't afford what I used to perform on but this video helped me choose the PST line so I can get back into what I love, drumming.
Thanks Jared, Drumeo, and Paiste for this video. It is excellent to see someone make a professional video with professional sound to help those of us that cannot afford what we want. We have to make compromises and this helps us make better choices. Also thanks to Paiste for making superior products in every budget. All that is left is a dark series or trashy series but that may be asking a lot. Lol
Thanks again Jared, Drumeo and Paiste.
hope you got back on your feet and are still drumming no matter what you play
I initially thought these were you DW's, but then realized they're Yamaha's.. Yamaha's and Paiste for life, those drums sound amazing, and Paiste cymbals are just perfect all around, Stewart Copeland can't be wrong
Copeland plays Tama tho
Important thing that most here don’t appreciate is the quality of work that has been put into mixing and mastering this. Sounds like sweet honey to my ears
These are by far the best budget cymbals out there. I'm a sabian player (which I play high end cymbals) and if I had to buy another set of cymbals I'd be getting some of these!!! Amazing sound and unbeatable price.
Paiste KNOWS B8!
indeed! Thanks for your support.
+Paiste Cymbals Got the 16" crash, love it! It mixes well with my 2002 18" and 19" crashes!
+Paiste Cymbals these are B8? Wow!
+Senor Gamer all paiste cymbals are b8 or b15 i believe.
***** thanks. not too much of an expert on paiste - just talking from what i've heard
The light PST 7 are just amazing! Very clean sound. The ride is great to crash. The crashes are great as well. The 16" surprised me. Overall, these are perfect if you want to upgrade your cymbals at a affordable price.
The heavy and medium sound incredivle!
I bought these in 2019 and i have not regretted it at all. incredible buy. i'll give myself a pat on the back for elite shopping thank you very much
I love these cymbals as they are perfect if you wants 2002s but don’t have the money
Phenomenal sounding cymbals for this price point. Any shop that stocks Paiste's can now order these cymbals. I just received the 14" PST7 China.
I think what I love about these cymbals as much as the sound is the feel of them. The 16" regular and 18: thin, 19" thin and 20 light ride to me have a feel that is a little buttery. I also have the 20" ride and 18" crash sound great. They Don't feel as good, but record really well and hold up in loud situations. I just got a 16" reg crash and will enjoy seeing how that holds up in a loud rock setting. These are bright sounding, crisp and sit well in almost any mix. I have even mixed them with dark K's and such. I like the variety of sounds for the songs I do. I keep buying these when I think I finally have all that I want. Crazy.
I have a set of PST7's and I love them. Not only that but the price cant be beat.
I think we should not consider the light cymbals only for jazz, medium for pop rock and heavy for metal...
I use a F602 paperthin crash and I play power rock music. I just love the sweetness and the sensitivity of thin crashes. They respond at any level, and medium or heavy cymbal can't do that.
Anyway, use what sounds best for your ears.
I agree, but if you're playing really heavy rock/metal with the thinner cymbals you need to be careful to not break them.
Drumeo Sure, but thin cymbals can be folded more than thick ones. Ironically, I never broke any thin cymbals, only "normal" ones :)
Totally Agree! i love Thin crashes for rock/metal
I play pop/rock, and i'm considering A LOT these cymbals, what set do you recommend me? thin or medium? I hit a little bit hard the cymbals, in fact, i broke two zht crashes, but I dont know thats because the cymbals, because I own a pst5 and looks like the same day I bought it, and before I own a meinl crash/ride (when i was young :P) and the same, never see the cymbal crying because of my hits... so I start to believe that the mistake was de zht set...
ZHT are entry level, they probably get less attention when made compared to A Customs or Keropes.
I prefer not to recommend you any set, only your ears (and hands) will tell you what to choose. Go to your favorite store, ask them to try the cymbals, and just listen (behind and in front of the kit). Take your actual cymbals as well since you will use them together.
Paiste is doing an amazing job. I strongly considered these and decided on the PST8s. I absolutely love the Signature sound and I'm not afraid to spend the money, but when I got back into drumming I bought a really nice kit and didn't want to break the bank twice on cymbals after my kit cost. So I decided to give these a try. OMG, I was going to start changing them out for Signatures, but I recorded these and the sound is so amazing. I really can't justify the extra cost for the Signatures. About 10 years ago I played a full set of Alpha, which I regret selling so I was a little worried about these PST8s, mostly because of the killer price point, but after I heard them, I'm not really sure what more I could ask for in the sound of these cymbals. The PST7s are just as amazing from what I have heard. Listen for yourself. This is a sound test of a rock recording I did in my home studio. ruclips.net/video/sntjNaeBhtI/видео.html
I recently acquired a set of the light/thin/session PST7 cymbals (14" hats/16" crash/18" crash/20" ride) and they sound great. The whole series sounds close to the Paiste 2002 sound, but with a little bit less fullness, sustain and complexity imo. Any untrained ear would struggle to ever recognize much difference in quality between these and 2002s (ESPECIALLY when mixed into a song).
And no, these cymbals don't sound the same right next to your ear as they do in this video, but keep in mind that no cymbal ever will. It's not worse in person, but it is different, and that will always be the case with any cymbal UNLESS you have a good ear and are able to recognize the sound of the same cymbal across different mediums (which most experienced drummers can likely do). And for the record, a pair of foam earplugs will generally make cymbals in person sound very close to the way they'll sound in recordings like this video demonstrates.
If you really like the sound of Paiste 2002s, I think you'll like the PST7 series. You'll get 80-90% of the same sound quality in person for well over half the price. And if you take your kit into a good studio, these cymbals will sound more or less like this video. Personally, I think the biggest downside of the whole series is the lack of a 22" or 24" ride, but these 20" rides sound fine for their size.
And not to mention the shorter sustain and power of these next to 2oo2's is not a bad thing. How many times have they tried to tame down cymbals in the studio. Tape anyone? Oh yeah they sure did. Live gigs. Lots of bands complain of the cymbals being too loud.
@@jimflys2 Oh yeah, definitely. After some 4-5 years I still use the light PST7 set to this day, and they actually sound better now from a bit of break in. some of their subtle bland ringiness has complexified and darkened, even when physically cleaned and polished. I did start using the 20" light ride as a third crash though, and I added a 22" 2oo2 ride to my kit. The whole set really comes alive when you have a big high end ride elevating it. They also match up visually, save for the different logo and extra hammering on the ride.
Wow; first time ever considering paiste over zildjian...great job
You know that Zildjian Farm always do a high technology computer hammering on every kind of it's own cymbal ;) instead of Paiste Farm that has both technical computer and by artisans hammering (hand hammering) ;) Cheers
C'mon over...Paiste's are great !!!!
Zildjian sucks
Man, Zildjian can't hold a candle to Paiste.
@@joelawson33 zildian reminds me of apple except for cymbals
Woah, a fenomenal player and a great cymbal company, liked before watching!
Thank you!
Great cymbals. I have owned some myself. Great job on the video actually giving a clean representation of what each cymbal sounds like in context, without being so raucous with showing out that we can hear the cymbals clearly.
Beautiful cymbals. I have a cracked 2002.
i cried when i cracked my 2002
I got mine cracked. It was free. Lol
i love my 2002s, Ive got an 18" crash and a 20" ride (wish it were a 22" or 24"). i paid 300 for em together.
@@BenjaminRosati23 id definitely cry if one of mine cracked, i cracked my trashformer and just cut a groove in it. still sounds good!
One of my absolute favorite Cymbals from Paiste. The PST 7 series sounds great in every live situation, also good for professional-level drummers too.
Best entry level cymbals on the market.
Entry level is a bad word for them, they sound just as good as the expensive ones, iv been playing for 30 years and I would buy them actually I am going to buy them they sound amazing!
These are amazing. I own the Paiste PST8 14" Medium hats, 16" Medium crash, 18" Medium crash, 10" Thin splash and 20" medium ride. If I didn't have the PST8 already I would go for these, They almost sound identical to Paiste 2002's. These blow the shit out of the water against Zildjian ZBT, ZXT, ZHT etc
the new zht sounds great though
I agree
Waaaaay better than the old ZHT
it also doesnt cost as much as the old one
Oh really?
PST7 “THIN” and “MEDIUM” cymbals are a tremendously good buy! Get ya some!!!!
Jared, this is the best video and demo of the pure, great sound of these cymbals I've ever watched!! Thank you!
They sound so Paistely sweet and soo un-budget. If given the chance, I'd gladly welcome them in my setup.
I just got a set of these for the heck of it and actually love them, I have the thin set and added a 14 inch Paiste sig 14 inch crash. Very happy with them just wanted beater set and these ended up being my go to cymbals. took me awhile to to get used to them though 2002 ish but not really and the sound are a not what i'm used too having just bought a set of Meinl byzance cymbals as well but playing in a rock band I'll use these everytime!!!!!!!!
I’m glad this is a cymbal demo where he plays a solo on the snare the entire time.
That snare sounds just amazing!
Amazing cymbals. I have heavy hi hat 14, classic crash 17 and 19 and heavy ride 20, sounds amazing.
Paiste now makes a 17" thin crash. I just purchased one and love the sound. I used to play Paiste 2002 back in the 1980's. I would have to say that the PST7's are the best bang for the buck. Good job demoing these cymbals. I prefer Paiste over all others. The thing everyone should know about Paiste is what Jared said about consistency. Thanks again.
I've found my new Cymbals PST 7. I didn't consider Paiste until I heard these Cymbals. Great review Jared!!!
I am a Zildjian player, and currently using k sweet line. Really considering the Giant beat series. Also these Pst7 sound amazing!!
The mediums are probably my favorite.
Jarred, talk to paiste we need an addition to the pst7 line up. A 22" swish / China that has that beautiful sound like the master series at a price working musicians can afford. That would be a fantastic thing for paiste to do. NO other company even comes close for budget minded weekend warrior's. They really got something here, hope they consider the 22" swish.!!!
Paiste best cymbals ever!!! I still use my 400 power ride 20" from early 90's and sounds amazing, also I have a Giant Beat 15" hihat and a PST7 light crash 18", now I'll buy a new PST7 light crash 16 Love'em
Man.. all of your great videos aside, I just think you are a great and enjoyable drummer yourself!
i love these cymbals i just got the pst 7 18" inch heavy crash it sounds great! my only issue i have is that i played it at band practice last night and i found a bunch of tiny dings along the edge none of my other crashes have this
The PST 7's are this generation 404's, only the 404's were much more dynamic, complex, and dark.. But these sound great !
505's too. Cut right through the mix
I just got the Pst7 14" china, its a real gem! Fits perfectly with my 2002/3000/RUDE mix.... Now next thing to come up with in Pst7 series is a 22"-24" power ride. ;)
I picked up a few of these so I don't have to take out my sweet old A's and K's to crappy gigs anymore. Paiste owns the budget cymbal market now.
really nice kit sound, they do sound a bit like 2002s
Dean Wuksta They're supposed to be a reissue of sorts of the 2002's
+Dean Wuksta Apparently they start life as a 2002, cut from the same cloth so to speak, but diiffer in the way that pst7's are machine hammered and 2002's are hand hammered. I think they're great, and at a reasonable price. Probably the best cymbal around in this price range. The only problem I have with them is that there's only a 20'' ride available, would love to see them do a 21'' and a 22' ride. Hopefully they will. They've just released a 17'' and a 19'' crash in the light and medium versions as well.
+Sion Lewis interesting. I kinda moved away from Paiste and play Meinl, done Zildjian Ks, Sabians, good to have a selection, no need to be limited.
I was always a Zildjian man and was lucky enough that over the years I could afford K's and A's and absolutely loved them. As time went on though priorities changed, family came along and so on, so had to sell them sadly. I'm at a point now where I can't really afford the high end cymbals which is allowing me to discover other brands and models. I won't touch Sabian end of, lol. Istanbul xist series and Istanbul Samatya series are very decent cymbals, nice feel and sound to them. Never played Meinl, but the Byzance series are very nice and sound excellent to me. Paiste PST5 series are great and I'm currently using the PST7 range which I can't praise highly enough. It's good to broaden the mind when it comes to cymbals. You can find some real gems from a lot of these companies that might not be high end but can still be a great cymbal at a good price..
Sean Lewis i will play cheap kits, and I often have to use what I'm supplied with, usually good brands, but sometimes u get rubbish. But I wouldn't skimp on cymbals, and always take my own, plus pedal, snare, sticks when I travel. Most of those cheaper cymbals are cheaper alloys pressed, physically different, and made differently, and they sound different. I'm currently using the Byzance series Sand Crashes and 22" Sand Rides, and some Meinl jazz/thin crashes...Zildjian new beat hats. They are worth the extra money.
Great video!! Love the pst7 light.... Awesome!!
thanks for the demo Jared these sounded amazing, and they are affordable for a semi beginner like me I found these at a local shop and I am thinking about purchacing these
best budget cymbals i heard so far!
I know we all look for advice and other people's views on here.
well here's mine hopefully some will agree and be motivated or helped out to make a smart purchase.
FOR the $ these are great! BUT these cymbals sound really nothing like this video!
A cymbal has to be played and felt and listened to in person.
I've watched a lot of these cymbal demonstrations and they all sound good because there all professionally done with mics and mixers and eqs the whole 9. You can make a trash can sound good with good equipment.
And the players who demo it are usually phenomonal. Also dosent hurt the demo of a cymbal.
So just get out there and start hearing it and playing it yourself to be sure.
These videos are good to get an idea and advice from other youtubers.
Keep rockn.
I'm Goin with pst7 14 med hat 20 light ride 18 med. Crash.
I like my rides thiner.
Splash and China I mite go wuhan.
I like those also thin and trashy.
If you want dark and trashy I don't think there is a paiste line that comes close to any of their competitors.
Paiste should def look into a dark trashy series.
Call me paiste!
I love cymbals.
Those drums sound Amazing
I forget Jared also plays drums amazingly 🔥
crispy as hell. this is why I love Paiste.
Hands down best budget cymbals they know b8 better than anyone else
My trusty 2002 16" crash from 1978 is finally considering retirement, as the key hole is getting bigger every day, so i think it's time to welcome a new born into my arsenal, and it will definitely be the PST 7 16" or 18" crash.. Under $200 ?..Can't beat that !
You can get it repaired and salvage that beast! I have saved a 24" 70's Avedis ride and a 20" Azco crash this way.
I have 2002 15 hi hats, 18 & 20 med crashes. I have a 24 Giant Beat multi for a ride. I'm convinced to check these out for my 16, 17 & 10 splash spots. The 18 China sounded danged good too.
I just picked up the 14" Hats, 20" Ride, 16" and 18" Crashes. I only paid $662 here in Canada for all 4 Cymbals. Amazing price! just waiting to see what they really sound like in person.
great sound for the money and from 2002 alloy. may get one for my nephew. alphas are nice too
Nice job Jared. Especially was digging on your finger control when you're playing the ride cymbal you went to 16th notes lickety split. Also the mix sounds incredible I don't think I ever would have considered anything other than my Zildjian K's, look for the price holy moly it can't be ignored.
You play amazing paiste entry sound 👏
I got the medium set with my income tax last week and I can honestly say these are the best cymbals I've ever owned or played before. It's nothing but Paiste from now on for me.
Will the medium set sound good enough for light music like jazz? I play mostly jazz and funk, which set would you recommend?
@@LanceWillMakeIt Yes. Play with 7a maple. That's what I use.
Do you think that’s a good placement for the splash? next to the high hats or between the toms ?
Just want to ask what Paiste series did the drummer of the band Heart used in the song Alone music video in the 80',s & Stings drummer to the song Every breath you take....Thanks & God bless everyone!
Armz73 paiste 2002 for Stewart Copeland and Paiste rude. Heart he used paiste 2000 black colorsound
JARED IS THE MAN YO!
Love Paiste cymbals!
Which drum head are you using at the bass drum?? Sounds awesome!!! You used a subkick?
i love this cymbals
one of the best solo i've seen :) great job Jared! love it
Can I still use the thin crash for rock and metal? I mean... is is just as durable as the heavy crash?
Jared is a really smooth and is an awesome player!
Seymour Butts your username is fantastic sir. Are you in any way related to Hugh Janus by any chance?
Dude, that should have been an A+!
Jonka Olofsson Ha, Ha! I don't know him, but I could be!
Beauty cymbals!
excellent demo, thx very much.
What version was he playing at the opening? The universal/mediums?
Paiste simply the best
What kind of microphones were you using?
I just bought an 18" thin crash from this series and I don't know if I'm getting the right sound from it. It sounds a little muffled, Just not quite as loud and punchy as any of my other crashes, and it definitely doesn't sound like these videos, or how it sounds in the sound room on the site.. Not sure if it's a defect or if That's how it's supposed to sound!
try the crash you bought the thin
Proper demonstration.
I really liked these until I heard the Pst 8 line. Now I want those. I only have the Pst 7 splash so far. I love the 16 Pst8 med crash and the Pst8 sound edge 14 hihats.
Destrosongo… Sonido cálido 👌🏼
Rides and 16" crash sounds weak to me. Maybe because of their small size. The rest seem good for the money. Would be nice to try these in person.
were can I pick these up? or order online? Im craving these light hats and 18" crash.
Is the paiste pst7 series for beginners or for pro drummers that doesn't have much money?
These are great cymbals for the person on a budget, and the seasoned player. For what they sell for you can't go wrong, they sound incredible. For the price of a set of paiste dark energy hihats,A person can pick up a whole set of these cymbals, and they will work just fine.High end cymbals from all manufacturers are getting really expensive. I tip my hat to paiste for bringing these cymbals out at this price point.People can afford them ,and like I said, they sound great.
Jared, did you switch to the slide technique ? Oo
Thank you for nice video.
Thank you!
Can you tell me what is the difference between pst7 vs pst8 besides it being
Should I get this or save longer for the Zildjian A's? How good are the pst7's compared to zild a's?
PST7 adds an affordable line for drummers who like the traditional look, sound and feel. PST7's base is CuSn8 bronze which stems from the legendary 2002 series. We work with B8 bronze in a way that produces beautiful and CONSISTENTLY sounding instruments. Give the PST7's a try - we think you'll love them. Thanks for viewing our channel - tell a friend!
from an unbiased source: I have a set of A's and I have also played the pst 7s. it really depends on what your going for. they both stem from a classic root and both support limitless genres. pat knows b8 better than any other brand out there by far, and these cymbals sound fantastic, but zildjian has been around for literally over 400 years (currently the longest lasting operation/corporation in the world) so it is really about who you trust and what you this sounds superior to the other.
I've got both and the A's really don't compare with the PST7s very well. A's are a different alloy and higher end of the spectrum. That being said, the PST7s are half the price and still sound great. they don't have the same pitch and volume as the A's . Just go to your local music store and try em both. trust your ears and your wallet. cant go wrong with either imo
I have two pst7 on my drum set, Just and Awesome sound¡¡¡
amazing sound
I wish PST made 15" hats
Pst7 heavy 👍👏
Great cymbals! I own a 20" Light Ride and it honestly sounds better than a lot of >$200 ride cymbals
Do you think the session set is to bright to play more than jazz?
@@LanceWillMakeIt The Session Set would probably work for rock or jazz, though if you're playing jazz, if you can, I'd recommend saving up for darker cymbals, but if you can't, then the Session Set will work just fine, though in general the PST7s are probably best for rock music, hope this helped :)
is there anyway you can post a video of the pst7 18 thin crash playing it like a ride with medium pst7 hats please?
Good cymbals.
JARED RULES
great demo. How crashable is the ride?
Very crashable, especially with the light or medium one.
can somebody tell me how much better the pst7 medium hi hats are in comparism to the zildjian zbt hi hats? is the difference worth 150 bucks?
***** Don't compare anything to Paiste, Paiste is the best cymbals in the world. I had a set of Zildjian A Customs, and those aren't cheap and they didn't even sound as good at these PST 7's.
Are you hitting the bell of those rides with the tip of the drumstick?
because I'm more comfortable playing in these way, please answer me
Is that the Yamaha recording custom drums? Great sound! Great paiste cymbals!
Just bought a set of mediums. Cheers
what mics are these?
are you a rusher or a dragger? quoted from Whiplash movie :D
