    I think you’re spot on Eric. Maxing out the pinch and dropping that airspeed is always good. All the good modern heads have really eliminated the pinch as a pressure differential and energy stealer…

    Looking forward to your flow numbers after your port work. Most power I’ve seen reported from the stock cnc work seems to be about 535 hp. It be good if us Mopar guys could buy these castings without the pushrod holes, so that we could just use W2 offset rockers.

    I hardly ever do sb mopes either. But this was an interesting video and comparison. I have worked on the trickflow bb mopar 270's. Nice quality hardware. But I was not diggin the design. Those hughes heads seem like the clear choice for anything other than a 318 or a tow rig. The low flow is an easy fix with some carbide time. I am impressed with hughes in this particular case. I do wish Eddelbrock would change their seat ring sizing and bathtub chambers in many of their heads.

    Nice video Eric. I am not a Mopar guy, though I have clients that are. I can report the the Trickflow 190 heads are top quality and work really good on a 360/365 .030 in a nice street application. I too am a ProMaxx dealer, and recently sold a set of the cnc small block mopar heads for a fairly hot 365 . I hate to say it but the cnc work was less than stellar. On the sides of the SSR it was really wonky, the tooling steps were atrocious. And as is typical for Mopar the pinch was way to small to hit the desired power. So I installed brass tubes and got closer to the needed CSA then getting the T Ram to land on the port and have taper from the plenum to head took a rediculous amount of time. 🤦‍♂️

    That exhaust port on that sbm just looks funky and old looking to me because it's got the angle going up but yet the shape coming out has no rooms because of the bolts it looks like and why do they keep lowering and flattening the floor. What's you thought on the exhaust port. And also what do you think about sbm vs Chevy heads in general on intake port and whatever else

    • @andretorben9995
      @andretorben9995 7 месяцев назад +1

    Why they don't use a offset rocker arm for the pinch is beyond me. Would it be worth welding up the pinch and porting it with a offset rocker? Keep the vids rolling learned much here!

    • @ragingbull3406
      @ragingbull3406 7 месяцев назад +1

      They "do" use an offset rocker for the Hughes head. They move the pushrods over for a bigger intake port. Some small block Mopar heads use big block rockers.

    • @timothybayliss6680
      @timothybayliss6680 7 месяцев назад

      @@timothybayliss6680 I only have one set of bushed w2 rockers with Ford cup adjusters and bronze bushings That's the way we did them back in the day Now you can buy roller tip which were not available back then. Longer valves and higher lift than stock cams REQUIRE that the rocker shafts be relocated, there are kits available.

  • @geneticrex

    So many of these readily available heads for MOPAR are little more than stock replacement street deals, not capable of making real power, or turning big rpm. They're low budget, low performance bolt on parts.
    For example.....an old school cast iron W2 will walk all over these 2 examples of "modern day" offerings. Wanna' make steam with an inline valve small block MOPAR??? Find a set of W8s and properly prep them. 1050+HP potential with a cast single and a wet sump.
