"Mistake" should have been released on KISS "Dressed To Kill" with Peter Criss on lead vocals!! Peter Criss had one of the greatest faux British raspy vocal styles similar to Steve Marriott (Small Faces lead vocalist & Humble Pie co lead vocalist) Rod Stewart (The Faces co lead vocalist) Ian Hunter (Mott The Hoople lead vocalist) Michael Des Barres (Silverhead & Detective lead vocalist) Paul Rodgers (Free & Bad Company lead vocalist) Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin lead vocalist) Orignally, Paul Stanley wrote "Hard Luck Woman" for Rod Stewart & Rod Stewart really should have recorded a version of the song cuz it would have been a HUGE HIT for “Rod The Mod” !! Especially when Rod’s solo albums at the time in the mid 70’s we’re becoming increasingly more commercial after he moved to the U.S. and had Stax Records Booker T & The MG’s & The Memphis Horns back him up on his Warner Brothers mid to late 70’s studio albums. Rod’s greatest musical period in The Faces and his earliest solo career running concurrently & the 4 Faces studio albums on Warner Brothers & the 5 solo studio albums on Mercury Records. Anyways, Paul Stanley had Peter Criss sing lead vocals on “Hard Luck Woman” & it also should have been a hit song for KISS coming off the back of the HUGE commercial success of “Beth" power ballad also sung by Peter Criss…
In my answer to the description section here, I think Life in the Woods was an earlier demo than Mistake. I know it was played live at the Daisy, but Life in the Woods take 2 was pretty much a demo, even though Peter Criss was being a bit silly in the middle of the song
this is such a shame that they did not record this as is. such a catchy tune. i get it though they wanted to build up a certain image. and this song didn't fit. It's a great song.

The melodic guitars sound so sweet I wished kiss would used more of it seems like after love gun it was completely gone
