My own training is only just starting to feel decent again this week after the Christmas indulgence. I did get out for a run on Christmas Day for the first time ever, really enjoyed it, and worked up a serious appetite for Christmas dinner! Definitely going to be a new annual tradition going forward. I'm also convinced that you run slower in the dark - my weekday sessions are all in the evening because of work and I swear I'm working much harder to hit the same paces I'd hit on a Saturday or Sunday morning run. Best of luck to Holly in the London marathon! Going almost straight into another marathon block after Valencia is tough work but no doubt she'll smash it!
It’s a great thing to do and sometimes the best thing to escape the chaos for 30mins! That’s interesting. I assumed it was maybe because I don’t run in the dark that often and wasn’t used to it but maybe it is just a thing! She seems to have recovered well so hopefully she can get a good block of training in and smash a big PB. Will be nice to just be part of the support crew for a change!
I resonate with what you said at 9:54. Whenever I come back from break I seem to never have the same motivation I had before. But always after a few weeks of staying diligent the motivation and passion comes back and its a wonderful feeling.
Yeah it never changes. Just keep putting that work in when it’s hard and eventually the little bit of fitness will shine through and make it feel easier!
I'm enjoying your channel, here's to a great new year of running. Sorry to hear you got flu, it does sound like it was in your system for a good couple or 3 days before you finally succumbed to it.
Thank you! Yeah looking back I think that Friday session was the first sign of it. It’s always difficult at a time like this to know when it’s a fitness issue or something else. Everything feels good now though!
Good to see you've got over your man-flu. I'm actually 'Mo' from Elder parkrun (long story, short - psycho boss stalking my whereabouts (on Strava) during Covid). Anyhoo, 78 miles on an easy week is impressive. I've spent the week doing laps of the local primary school car park as its gritted regularly! Boring AF and hoping Troon parkrun provides some respite tomorrow. Take it easy, cheers.
Haha yeah that was a rough few days but it was good to get out and support at elder park. Yeah I’m pretty lucky to have a local industrial estate that has an ambulance depot so always gets gritted! How did the parkrun go?
Great video ryan, really helps when u see fast runner's taking it easy on their easy runs and not every session is perfect, ur right running in d dark on ur own is alot slower
Thank you! I absolutely love an easy run. The hard days can’t be hard if the easy days aren’t easy! It’s just about stacking the days and weeks. Haha yeah I’m glad I haven’t just imagined this
With the lactate pricking, if your currently doing it at a certain rotation ( think about a clock / circle) and finding it hard to get a good cut, try rotating the lancet 90 degrees. I think this will mean that you will go from a long thin cut to a wide one or vice versa, but either way one for me gave me a much better blood flow from the cut.
Haha yeah he’s got a 30:06 10K and a 2:22 marathon to his name. He’s currently on the comeback trail I think! He’s been doing a lot of “walking” but that 30 second Boxing Day jog looked a bit too easy 😂
Thanks for the breakdown! A bit off-topic, but I wanted to ask: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (mistake turkey blossom warfare blade until bachelor fall squeeze today flee guitar). How should I go about transferring them to Binance?
Love this 😄 also love to run/recovery days with my partner! Definitely brings us closer 🤞🏼
Yeah it would be good if we got out more often but I can't preach "easy runs easy" and then drag Holly for an easy run at her marathon pace 😂

How did the parkrun go?
Sacked the parkrun - roads were treacherous. Made it to the primary school again though. Definitely doing a parkrun this week. Well, maybe……. 🤣
Great videos Raz

Beans, microwave rice and some kind of 20mins in the oven protein. You can tell I was left to make my own dinner that night 😂
