I just watched this on Christmas day of 2019, without checking the date, because it was in my feed of nearly all fpv content. I was wondering why anyone would build a brushless micro like that! Then saw it was from 2017. We've come a long way with brushless micros, and I'm definitely excited to see where it continues to evolve. Thank you Nick, for reviewing so many micros, and providing such excellent content!!!
yes we have. A long way
@@NickBurnsFPV Yeah, definitly! 2023 is a different thing. Back then, digital wasn't intruduced yet...
Yes on OSD. Another awesome video Nick. I never miss one of yours.
Absolutely vote YES for an OSD! One of these birds without an OSD is a total deal buster for me, period. Another great review!
lol I'm loving the new way you're cutting your review.
thanks
Very funny at the beginning xD
Hi Nick! you can get tubing from any good old RC store. I just cut the silicone "fuel line" to fit the spacing I need.
Yes on OSD
I just bought a very lightly used Moskito 70 for $150 and although I love it so far, I wish I would've seen this first.
Live and learn
This thing looks sweet, thanks Nick for sharing
Watching this in 2023 made me realize how far we have come
yes, and so many more micros available on the market.
I have one on the way. I'm excited to fly it. Thanks for the review.
I think you'll have a good time.
I didn't even realize they have another frame. And you have your own channel...thats great.
A cool vid and a cool quad. Thanks, Nick! And another yes to OSD.
Hey nick. It's nice that you can go back and see your favorite reviewer when he 1st started. Lot more trees in your yard. And no punch outs over the house. Like always awesome video. Keep ripping my brother!!!
lol, somehow this old video has been popping up in the YT feeds. This was big time back in the day. I do miss some of those trees, the upside is less leaves to pick up, although sometimes its hard to see the difference.
The music hits hard like retro feeling coming up love it
Nice I don’t tend to use music anymore. But this was many years ago
@@NickBurnsFPV yeah i kinda like the music but prefer to hear the propsound and commentary
I like the way you do your intros Nick. Keep it up!!!
Thank you
great video Nick keep up the good work. i love the music. and the quad looks pretty snappy
Thanks
Cool , I like the raw look.
Yes for OSD 👍
Wow your first indoor flight is cool,I hope to learn fpv
The sigh during the quick cut made me laugh (1:05)! My Macaron didn't come with prop screws that would go through the gemfan 2035, fortunately I followed your instructions and ordered a load on the slow boat from China.
This looks like an ace little quad. I have the buzzer on my Macaron and a timer on the Taranis, so that keeps my batteries safe. I don't miss an OSD as I've never flown with one. I'd only like the voltage, even if it does bounce around when you give the throttle some beans.
Great video again, Nick. Thank you.
Thanks.
Hahaha the Betafpv 65 from 2017 and it’s a 2S!? Looks dope, now I want this one too... (just got a Beta 75X)!
i love the osd aspect man another awsome vid dude.....lol just bought a trainer 66 and hawk sport this is my first non beta product i hope these companys fc last more than 4 days lol
That is crazy small n quick...i thought you would have flow above the trees n dived the tree canopy gaps 😉
Great flying buddy 👌👊
Thank, no tree dives, big risk when doing reviews, it gets stuck and you can't get it down, now we have nothing to show in the review video, risk can be taken but imho it will need to be a breakage risk.
Enjoyed the review! I was going to say more, but I’m sleepy... anyway, look forward to more.
Nice! sweet little ripper!!
Yes OSD👍 thanks for the review.
love the intro and the lamp......
That orbit was going so well. I hoped to sneak by but no.
Just finished a 70mm micro build. Mine comes in around 40g, but I designed it to handle 4S! But I need to find some micro motors that can handle it....
what size props? 4s might just be more weight.
OSD is a must have nowadays!
Definitely hooked on OSD.
Feels like a while since you last uploaded a video....... so thought id take a trip back in time
Yea, I think its been a touch more than a week. I do have two videos I need to record and edit, but work as been so busy my energy level at night isn't there for recording. Weird shifts bouncing between day and nights, harder to cope as I get older. It will calm down, we have a flurry of projects we are wrapping up right now. Thanks for check in on me. I do still remember this one. One of the first to have the prop protection and no prop protection. Back when we had a cat as well.
Amazing concise video thanks!
Thank you
Nice video. Was this flying out of the box or did you have to set up the pids yourself?
Great flying and nice review. My only complaint would be the 1103 motors. I would much rather have 1104 motors. Happy Flying!
1104 would add some pretty good weight. With sum 2inch props I suspect it would dog it down.
OSD and buzzer would be very nice. They have an OSD on the 65s.
Nice mini quad
Nice quick information good video
Thank you
Betafpv has released an updated version with osd. It runs 1735 props and better motors.
That little guy tears it up,,,, love the shade
Try using small silicone fish tank tubbing the kind thats really small but the silicone is shrink stretchy a lot. lol that might work!
I know it may be way late, but you can take nitro rc fuel tubing to soft mount fc's and such:)
True, I have also found fish tank air hose does the job too.
Nice model
I really like this thing. Wish had atleast 1 extra min of flight from 300mah 45/90c 7.4v. I get 2min 15sec... flips n rolls n powerloops of course.
did you say pizzas or pieces in the bag of bits and bobblies
right to the point, no unnecessary psycho babble, great vid, thanx
Thanks
Yes for OSD
I like the OSD mainly for tuning and troubleshooting myself. However, if there's an OSD port on the board, you have top break the top of the 3 pins on that cam (looks to be the VM275T?) and then VIN is the side with the camera and VOUT is the side with the VTX. I just did that to mine and I am testing it this week, but I found that on the MMW thread.
tru, the separation can be tricky, as the two boards are very close to one another. Its easier on the tx01 etc.
Yeah I used an exacto, it's all that fits really... Nasty cut but worth it
Cool little machine. Seems to fly great and video seems good. Out of all the micro brushless quads which are the top 5?
The builds are all tops. 1. Hoverbot 2. tiny swift 2.5 swirlie. As RTF the beta65 by far. But it really depends if your going to fly indoor or outside and if indoor how much space you have.
Nice video! How does this compare with some of the larger 1103 based micros like the KK 90GT and the Awesome Q90? The Awesome Q90 comes with a buzzer, but otherwise the specs seem similar other than the smaller size frame and props, and the 10-15 grams lighter weight.
It flight very similarly, but with slightly less top end thrust.
Rick in Jax 90gt can strap a bigger battery. Longer flights. Beta65 pro is limited by weight.
I love OSD, as it means you don't have to haul around your laptop to the flying field to tune. I also like seeing voltage and flight time.
Could you do a review of the GnarlyFPV Guppy? I like the motor layout, more of a "deadcat" style, that keeps the props out of the shot.
Nathan Schlenker I considered the guppy but without prop guards it's out of question for me. That leaves the Nano X... To fly locally indoors they require guards.
Will Borkowski That is a good point. I guess a 3D printable version could be made, but that's a topic for another discussion.
Yes for the OSD :)
See THESE are the kind of brushless whoops I'm interested in. Ones that are the same size as a regular whoop with brushless power and prop guards for indoor fun.
Is this your new favourite of this size? How does it fair against similar sized quads like the swirlie?
Thanks nick
Azonic hi there. Did you identify any that you like?
Another yes for OSD. How does this stack up to other brushless indoor fliers?
I think indoor it requires a little less touch/feel in the piloting. Outside it doesn't have the top end thrust of larger prop'd fliers.
According to the description of the Omnibus F3 Flight Controller that they sell it has a 5v, Gnd, Vout, and Vin so you can run an osd on it and in the description it says it runs betaflight osd
I think I cover that in the video. We either have to hack in a video in/out wire to the cam/vtx or get a 4wire cam/vtx.
okay definitely looking forward to that video
Wow! It can also carry an action cam?
my geez, ur pretty damn good at flying 👍
thanks
OSD is a MUST!
Sub from the Fun Factor! I can get into a 65 brushless.... I mean WOW.
I want one love the tiny beast lol
I prefer seeing the props sometimes especially on Whoop like builds, gives you that nice immersion in the craft. I have a few BetaFPV HV lipos which were bargain price and been performing good over a month now. Also some of their insane 6mm whoop motors, though flying nothing but 7*16mm in my whoops now. Have you tried whooping the E011 yet and the 7*16's? Takes whooping to a whole next level.
Enjoyed the vid as ever. Cheers.
I haven't tried new whoop iterations.
Particularly the 7*16 motors not the 7*20.
Beautiful so dialed in an u can use this with a dxe Nick Burns
That tubing looks like silicone fuel tube used on nitro engines cut into small pieces. I have used it when mounting the FC in the past.
It could be, but its very firm, no really flex or give.
Can it fly acro? Whole video was horizon. Does it have enough punch to pull out of dices etc?
This looks so fun! I just went to their site and it's sold out.
Looks like it just came back in stock in the China warehouse.
I ended up buying a bunch of parts the same day to build another 130mm frame with 3" props and 1106 motors. Thanks for the heads up though!
sure. happy building. What frame are you going to build up.
You're first -rate, Nick! Woohoo!!
God I wish i knew about this hobby 7 fucking years ago lol. thats also amazing how i guess you have been making videos about fpv consistently for 7 years
great!
Nick is there a 5v connector or pads on the flight controller to add a buzzer like the Kingkong IQ100 Multirotor Finder And Taillight Module 4.5V-5.5V For FPV Racer? Trying to ensure I can get a battery alert and finder added to this little guy, without having to upgrade the transmitter / camera.
I think the flight controller is this www.banggood.com/Super_S-16x16mm-Betaflight-STM32F3-F3-Flight-Controller-Integrated-with-OSD-BEC-p-1147583.html?rmmds=search which does show pads for a buzzer and led. I don't think the led will be programable, just power. The other 16x16 flight controllers I looked at don't match up, but there could be one out there I haven't see that does but isn't the one I have linked.
Great review! Any chance you could post a CLI dump from your Beta 65? I accidentally wiped my settings on Betaflight.
Sure. I added it to the description. bit.ly/2gsUOTH
Thanks! Works great now.
awesome
OSDs are great! But not essential for me. I fly fixed wing and my brushed whoop mainly, but I also have a small 2" kwad. I am currently considering either building a brushless whoop or buying the Beta meteor65 and swithing the motors to something more manageable. Do you own the meteor65? Should I go for it?
I do have a review on the meteor65. I prefer the mobula 6.
@@NickBurnsFPV thanks! I've decided against buying a prebuilt, and I have ordered components based on the BetaFPV flight controller. I just didn't like the basket-like frame or the ludicrous motors. I decided that if I wanted to spend that much money on a new whoop, it might as well be the ideal one for me! I'll watch the review for entertainment anyway.
Cool whoop! When I click on the product link says item not found. Thanks for the great video!
yes, this is seriously old and the company no longer makes this quad.
@@NickBurnsFPV lol I thought it was one of your new videos . Yeah would be gone 2017 video. I think eBay might be the only place to get it now
@@trevorimpulsebuyguy6398 Nearly an fpv museum piece. :)
@@NickBurnsFPV lol yeah it suggested it and I didn't look at the date. It's so old I thought it was new. Still cool, I wish there was a good older drones for sale site besides ebay
Just got mine today and think it looks very nice for the price! Mine has a few differences from yours, though. My main plate is 2-1mm plates glued together and my battery is a much more compact 400mah 35c battery. Excited to try it out when I get home from work, but I'll probably either use my maxamp 400mah 100c batteries or my Lumenier 400mah 50c. Only thing I wish they would have done different, is that I wish the camera standoff would have been higher to allow the receiver to maybe be taped to the underside of it, while reducing the profile of everything under the main frame. Either way...seems like a lot of good fun is going to be had for 100 bucks.
And I actually like having some of the props in view. It's almost an artificial horizon/crosshair thing for me. I know if my target is between those props, I'm probably good to go.
Did they use pins to connect your receiver? I think its an easy way to get the rx on but does consume more space with how its executed.
My receiver is connected with wires...using an frsky receiver
Now that I'm watching your review again, there's also so other changes. In addition to the 2-1mm plates stuck together for the main frame, they also reduced the profile underneath it compared to yours. Mine only has about a 2mm thick nylon nut between the bottom of the main frame and the flight controller...where it looks like there's a taller standoff under yours. I did not get "solid" prop guards...only the bag of tiny pieces of carbon to build prop guards. Mine doesn't have the shrink tubing on the base of the vtx antenna, either. You said you added the JST to yours, but that's what mine came with.
My prop guards aren't solid, each side is three carbon pieces. I should have covered that. I did note they added the option of buying with a jst connect, that wasn't an option at the time I purchased.
Got my 2nd now. Ill leave it stock this time 🙄 flies nice. I use nanotech 300 45/90c. Only get 2mins flight with rolls and flips. Could push it longer but dont want to kill the lipo. Straight cruising around i know i will get above 3 mins. Wish it had a real pilots pids. And a better higher C lipo. I have gnb 450 but might be too heavy at 27g than the 300 nanotech at 17g only.
Is there any other lipos better than the 300mah 45/90c nanotech? I was thinking gnb 350mah 80/160c but i cant get any gnbs here in Australia anymore.
try getting batteries from amazon. I am not a fan of the nanotechs, they tend to fall off hard after a number of flights, like 30-40.
Nick Burns im from Australia so amazon atm doesnt ship lipos here. Waiting for amazon usa to open here which is in the next few days hopefully i can get some lipos then.
Hey Nick. You wouldnt happen to have the betaflight receiver settings on hand do you? I reset the flight controller and I dont know what uart its using for the FrSky receiver that came with it. I just transferred the guts to a 83mm frame and I was hoping to get it going.
I do, mine is on uart3.
Nick Burns thank you! After trail and error I figured it out. Love the channel. Thanks for all the great videos.
I'm also going to give a thumbs up for BetaFPV customer service. They're actually coming from Hong Kong, but the tracking number they provide, links you to the FedEx facility in LA, where it lands from the slow boat. If you take their tracking number and enter it into YunTrack, you can track its progress from Hong Kong until it hits the states. FedEx actually lost my package for several days and BetaFPV was going to send me a new one, no questions asked. I called FedEx and got them to initiate a search...and they magically found it last evening. Either way, BetaFPV responds to your messages fairly quickly and they seemed like they would do anything to help.
Great, this is at least two positive customer service accounts.
Lol so cute 😍
thats sick
thanks
Hmm, FC/ESC stack seems to looks exactly like super_s and it has an osd ☺
Maybe they just don't wire it?
yes, just a two wire cam/vtx
Do you like this one enough to not pay an additional $80 for the Rakonheli 66mm or is that difference worth it +Nick Burns
If my goal is to fly mainly indoor I think the Rakon is the way to go. If I want something more versatile I go with the Beta65.
It sounded like you said Pizza’s and I bet your neighbors love you lol
4 years later, baby nazgul
lol. It took micros a while to gain popularity, slowly but surely :)
How does the battery attach - velcro - strap on the bottom - rubber bands?
yea rubber bands. I also added a bit of low profile duralock.
Thanks!
Its so retro:D
Many many moons ago indeed
is it possible to put the emax 1106 motors on the beta65 pro =?
It should fit, but I don't think you should. The added weight won't help performance or flight time. The props are still very small.
Every quad should come with an OSD now a days!
I believe this does now. Mine was one of the first they made.
on the website you are letting $; it says: Betaflight OSD is included
They changed it since my review. I don't get anything from Betafpv, I buy all their products I review.
How can I buy it bro pls respond
I wonder how this compares to the Mosquito 70??
I prefer this one, the guard is carbon and nylon we can easily replace broken nylon parts but the moskito guard requires a new guard to be purchased.
YES! OSD
Looks like this ended brushed flying for me. I'm loving the micros scene (except for repairs/soldering, it's a bitch)
I put some 1735 5 blades... havent flown it yet but will i get shorter flight time than the 4 blade? The 4 blade hub is actually thickers than the 5 blade. So im assuming thinner but more blades means its lighter?
generally more blades is heavier and shorter flight times.
Nick Burns but i weighed them and it is lighter. The 5 blade has a thinner hub
okay.
Nick Burns actually i was able to fit 1940 props from the kk90gt.. had to shave alittle of the camera mount. Im sure these will be better than the others since its less blade and thinner hub.
I think it's hit or miss with these. about half of the online reviews as of Dec 2017 give a major thumbs down to the Beta65, with quite a few reporting DOA components and poor customer service. It seems they are selling very many (sold out @ $109.99) but with competitors offering solid service and quality for under $200, these won't be around long imho
That stinks. They better correct that or like you said...bye bye.
yes
Flys var goot! Bar bar goot!!
Nice review, can you give me the link to the music?
Edvard Nash & HEXX - Gravity. Try googling that.
Thank you!
do you have a new link for this drone?
No, no longer solder. Much better quads for inside flying now go to betafpv.com and check them out. I have reviews on just about all their quads.
I looked this quad up online and actually has a lot of mixed reviews doesn't seem that great to me.
Since my review I have seen mixed reviews and quality control issues. Could be short lived success.
niiice
thanks. I don't believe this model is available anymore, but maybe in the rc classifieds.
YES WE WAN'T OSD . I Like to have OSD just for battery voltage, maybe timer, I'm still new to flying Drones so I only have two Quads that even came with OSD, But right now the two that did I have everything on and i'm finish with that so now I'm turning it off and I will only have the voltage
why are the motor wires not soldered to the 4in1 esc do you have to do that yourself when you buy it?
They are soldered on the 4in1. The wires are under the esc then point outward to the solder pads. This is bind and fly.
i cant get it hooked up to betaflight to set my switches cuz im a dumb noob :( lol
Did you install the drivers on the front/first screen of the bf app? We have to have those.
Nice little machine is she still flying
I gave it away some time ago. Hard to say if it its still flying :). I don't think betafpv sells this one anymore.
