It's awesome going through your videos and in the background photos you see the progression of your transmitters and goggles. You've helped out plenty over the years for info
ah yes, it has been an interesting and fun five years. This particular quad was one of the first 1s brushless whoops. We had to build them with such unreliable parts.
The dust x58 was also a doozy.
@@counter929 I don't recall that one. Must have been one I missed.
To counter the effect of the temporary voltage sag of the 1S (and some low capacity 2S) batteries prematurely setting off your low voltage warning, you can experiment with the Vbat Hysteresis setting in the Betaflight CLI. This effectively delays the voltage warning for a short time to allow the voltage to recover. If it doesn't recover, then it allows the warning to activate.
1 unit = 0.1V, so for example, if you were previously using the old workaround of lowering the warning voltage by about 0.3V, instead, you would use the command 'set vbat_hysteresis = 3' .
Good tip. Thank you
Really cool video and the shout out to ADAMBOMB made my day 👍
Thanks. Sheesh I forgot his youtube handle. :(
Nick Burns I didn't even know ADAMBOMB and Adam Douglas were the same person! LOL
I am pretty sure. I should check before my foot gets stuck in my mouth. :0
Please don't feel bad for not updating, we all love it when you do. I could probably map the interior of your house and garden from memory and your early signature jump cuts are great. I went 80mm Macaron after the Whoop motors gave up and the extra power has been great, even for my narrow, cluttered house. I told my long suffering wife I wouldn't need another quad but now... now I think I might need to have another conversation... :D
Thanks again, Nick. Great video as always. :)
Thank you
The macaroon is good. I still need to replace the stack in mine. Didn't you have a video you linked of it a while back?
can't believe the clarity is stunting
Hey Nick awesome Job again. Was looking forward to have a build part in this vid. But anyway this adam Cooperation is a good way that you can air more videos again. Thank you cant wait to finish mine. I'll use the teenys 4in1 ESC.
I would love to have one of these to fly indoors for the bad weather coming soon.
yes winter should be coming soon. It was 91 here today and humid. Felt like July.
Nick, this is exactly what I've been looking for. Thank you! Beautiful house, btw.
Thank you
Getting mine tomorrow, thanks for referring Adam
Sure, he is a good builder. Fly have fun.
Nice build by Adam and good review Nick. My problem is I'm up to my 3rd 07xx build and this just fuels the fire for yet another one!
Great and thorough review. Thank You!
Wow this was some freakin impressive flying!
Thank you
I really need to get me a micro. Nick another great no BS review! Keep them coming
Thank you
Reviewers are saying the happymodel snapper 7 75mm is a great model and it's like $87 with a osd, built in receiver and battery. They make a 65mm also but I haven't seen a review on it. You should review it because it's a cheap alternative to a custom built micro 1s brushless. Plus if you use a 10% coupon with banggood it's even cheaper.
yea, I have one on the way. I hope it turns out well.
Cool video
You've got a fireplace in your basement?? :) WOW! Wish we could have basements where i live... great video! Adam just did some builds for me and did an amazing job! I highly recommend him!! :)
Basements are nice and can be a pain. When it rains heavy or for long periods of time we used to get water in the basement.
Actually looking at more vids of this Rakonheli 66mm brushless, I would say it has only a third of the E011's authority in racing turns or acro maneuvers.
1/3 of a $17.99 quad? Explain...assuming you reference Eachine E011 whoop...
The tip about avoiding hair is something my wife might have wanted to know before I started banging around indoors, heh.
ouch. Hopefully nothing bad enough to banish you outside.
What about general durability, motors durability aside? All those screws. O.O! I've banged the heck out of my Indy frame hard over the year I've had it and and only ever managed to break a single spar (had a carbon X brace; kept flying!), and it seems like the Indy Pro frame I just got is even stronger despite being a spit lighter. This little guy looks awesome.
I haven't had any issues. I tend to fly a pack to two in the house most nights. I have been splitting time between the hoverbot and this. It seems pretty durable. I haven't done any repairs since the review, just fly and fun.
Great review as always. Looks like your basement is coming together :)
Its very slow. The contractor didn't know it was an entire basement. He was initially told it was a bathroom and bedroom remodel.
Still current !!!
I need one of these brushless beasts! :)
I want one. That's awesome dude.
Thanks, have Adam build you one?
Nick Burns do you enjoy building? I think it is fun
I do like to build. I worry that I have done so many it could be wasted effort on the channel. Recently time has been an issue. Building and recording doubles or more the time spent.
great video and for some reason your commintary was easy on the ears and I don't say that very often, I"m somewhat new to the drone build seen as I tend to gravitate to the fixed wing side of RC flight but I am a life long student of electronics and am trying to understand the drone build process is there a book or youtube channel even a website that you could possible point me to so I might learn how to build drones please.
Thank you. I would expect most drone channels to have build videos, some of them might be dated, I haven't done one in a long while, very tedious and time consuming, but even old videos are relevant as the principals are the same while the electronics have changed. I would suggest seeing what Joshua Bardwell's channel has on it for build videos and tutorials.
great video ........ basement is looking good BTW
Thanks.
Another great video and review, and thanks a million for the build Link, by the way you should build for customers yourself! TAKE MY MONEY!!!!
ha. I would if I had the time. I outsource some to adam because I was way behind in builds.
Thanks Nick, keep it up Bud, you're a great asset in this hobby!
i need to fly inside during winter this year.
Hi Nick. Glad you finally got around to reviewing this frame. Got a few questions about your build tho:
1. I might have missed it but which OSD board do you have installed. I assume that's what is fitted between the 2 rear ducts.
2. Did the Teeny flight controller come with a working buzzer or did you have to use the custom hex file that Simon (fishpepper.de/2017/07/19/tinyfish-fc-f3d8-buzzer-not-working-in-betaflight-3-1-7-fix/) built to fix the buzzer?
3. With all the extra hardware, how much does it weigh? I built mine with a Furious FPV Racewhoop and Micro Rx cuz none of the TinyFish based FCs really worked properly back then. Would be nice to have an OSD but then I'd have to switch back to the Tinyfish to keep the weight down.
The OSD is part of the teeny1s flight controller in the build. I did not have to flash any fixes to get the buzzer to work. The board between the two rear motors is my satellite receiver. I don't recall the weight, I believe the weight is in the video. I am not with it to weigh right now.
is this the same build that is on the Rakonheki website and that I can order Plug and play for either Spektrum or Taranis? If my TWR lacks power to fly outdoors, would this be the next step up? (I like the precision of the TWR but it's very limited outside if even a leaf is rustling and lacks "punchout power".
Hey Nick did you seen the quattrovolante (⬅️don't know if I spelled it right) q49 it's tiny, the smallest brushless quad I think, you really need to check that out.
Oops didn't entirely watch the vid
Thoose motors seem to be much better than the Sunnyskys. I now have my little quad finished, but just after one day with around 20 flights allotors rattle like hell because all bearings are done... Maybe I'll have to test thoose racerstars. What is your favorite Lipo and how low do you fly it? When I stop at 3.1V I just get around 1:50 to 2:00, then it nearly falls out of the sky...
Any chance you can rip this thing outside in a future video to show how it handles wind and punches out?
There is always a chance. :). I think we can do that.
Told you there is life in the old whoop yet. I would hazard a guess my E0-11 7x16 whoop is faster than that brushless one and a third of the price. Modded with an F3 micro board and one of those tiny Flysky ibus receivers, you gotta try it.
1/3rd? About $50? What motors are you running?
I recommend the latest Bwhoop b03 PRO (61500rpm motors) or bwhoop/E011 with MMW cl-0716-17 motors.
You can flash silverware to the fc to get acro mode and the cost would be $17 + ~$20 for the camera. Brushed motors don't last very long though.
Which f3 FC? Why the tx03?
out of my curiosity.. is it possible to replace the motor to 20000kV with your build (4amps ESC) ?
yes, but flight time will likely be shorter.
How about 10,000kv motors ? That's all that's left in stock right now.
Can you compare this to a brushed tiny whoop a little more? Has more athority you said, but what about power? The ability to do a roll easily or gain altitude quickly is my main concern.
Its going to depend on which brushed motors were are comparing to. In large part there is much more low end authority, meaning short throttle burst respond much more quickly.I would expect the brushed motors to respond about 8-12ft slower on punchouts.
Hey, how does this compare to an E011 based Whoop running MMW Insane 716 7mm motors? Mine has a 2.5:1 P/W ratio and wondered how this brushless compares? Do you know the P/W ratio?
I can't say, I haven't had the E011 or those motors. I haven't measured the P/W, I do find brushless easier to fly in acro/rate mode over brushed.
Its a shame its not completely built... for the price it should be complete.
Wow! first time veiwer here and I live how you some up the boring but important stuff and get straight to flying and your ripping it. SUBSCRIBED!!!!
Thank you. Welcome to this little corner of the hobby. :)
Did you have him get the parts as well, or did you just buy everything individually and send it to him? This is exactly what I'm looking for...and there is no way my size 13 fingers can hamfist through something like this. I have tons of micro stuff at home to build, myself...but I get pretty intimidated by just how tedious it is.
Adam can do it either way... He just built 3 for me and did an amazing job, excellent builder and SUPER fast! :)
In my case i sent the parts I had on hand directly to him, then ordered some additional parts needed, they were drop shipped to him.
Thanks for getting his name out there. Asked him to build a rakon like this for me and I'm also sending him my FlexRC Nano X w/1102/16500kv motors to build.
Dear nick, why don't you enable OSD? - sorry for my bad English...Can you explain here so i can try to translate all, i'm planning to build 1s 66mm with OSD...
The solder pad for vid in lifted on the board.
sick! I wanna build one now! also isnt it raceR star? i think the R is hidden in the logo :)
I have thought that to, i just am not sure.
Nick Burns can't ever tell with these darn overseas companies huh? 😂
Wonder if this would do well with a bigger battery? Say 400-500mah?
I doubt it would fly very well, or maybe not even get off the ground.
Your flying is amazing which radio do you use
I use three different radios. In this case a Jumper TS8G
The frame doesn't have the small "pins" on the sides to hold the tiny whoop canopy, am I right?
There are screw mounts/holes on the frame for the rakon mount. Not sure if a traditional TW canopy would work.
Nick Burns Yeah I mean on the normal whoops like the stock induxtrix frame where the plastic canopy snaps into place
Quick question if you have time, Nick... Looking at the 0703 motors right now (using your affiliate links : ) ) what kv do you recommend for this build?
I think with 41mm props we could possible get longer flight time with the 10000kv. On the other side of the decision making is power/thrust/top/speed...I wouldn't suggest the 20000kv, I think they will make the flights very short. Having tried the 15000kv, I like the thrust and control and the flight times being about 2:20 is about right for me. It all boils down to what we want. Long flights, or more power.
Thanks, Nick. Yup, I'm looking for longer flight times for cruising around the house and tormenting the wife.
Hey, silly question. What mode fight mode do you guys generally fly indoors?. I suck at Acro mode indoors.
Acro indoors. I used to use angle, spent the winter practicing, while it was a struggle I think my control was really improved with all the practice. Indoor is very unforgiving, the corrections need to be quicker and more limited, a good many times we only have some portion of 36-48inches to work with.
Motor durability
In the video you said you had 25 flights with the motors, are they more durable than brushed motors? Being 5 times more $$, Do they last at least 5x longer?
Thanks
I have yet to change out of the motors. I have three quads with these motor, all continue to operate normally. One I fly inside without prop guards.
Have you tried the dys elf ? curious how it compares, also how does this do with recovering from fips ?
I have not tried the elf. I did some flips in a hover. It not only recovered well but gave a much quicker boost on the throttle before the flip. comparing to my 8month old E010 whoop.
dangit now I wanna build one lol
Built this with the 12000kv's and they rattle and vibrate badly.. Did you have this problem?
The sound the motors emit do sound rattley or like they are vibrating. I believe its just the sound. I didn't experience vibrations that made it into the fpv or flight controller. I have three vehicles with these motors. They pretty much all sound the same, but have been fine in flight.
Is this flight controller compatible with Flysky transmitters?
if you add a flysky receiver yes.
What do you use for dvr? It always looks sooo clean ;)
I have fatshark HD3 with laforge diversity module, aomway cp antenna and menacerc patch.
love the Menace RC Patch !...yeah
hey Nick u don't happened to have the pids for this do you? can't get this to fly good.
Roll, 44, 40 30
pitch 58, 50, 35
yaw 70, 45, 20
Nick Burns thanks for the reply bro! I appreciate it. keep up the good work on your channel!!
Great video? Which option did you choose when buying the motors? There are 8000 10000 12000 15000 or 20000kv.
Not sure what your question is? In this video I used 15000kv
Nick Burns Sorry for my bad English, but yes, that is the answer I was looking for, thanks and greetings from Madrid (Spain)
No worries. Glad I was able to help.
am just curious.. is it possible to replace your current build with 20000kV motor?
Are the different modes like stabilty or just acro
yes, angle and horizon are self leveling modes, acro or rate is no self stabilization.
Bought everything on the list, but my props don't seem to be the right size. Did you drill yours? Or should the link be for the rakon 1.5 shaft props?
No didn't drill. I pulled out some fresh out of the bag props and put them on the 703 Racerstar motors. I don't see where the 31mm props come in a 1.5mm fitting.Do you have the 703 motors or 705? It appears the 705s can be 1mm or 1.5mm.
Yea, you're right. I bought the 0.8mm rakon props by mistake. Whoops.
Quick question does the flight controller have a built in receiver?
it does not.
What receiver did you use?
What’s your favorite indoor 1s brushless micro? Im thinking of getting the beebee 66!
with prop protection I would choose this rakon or the beebee66, but without prop protection I prefer the beebee 66 lite.
Nick Burns whats your opinion on the beta 65 pro (0603 on 66mm frame). It seems like 0703 is too much power for 65mm/indoor only, short flight times. Im wondering if 65mm brushless with 0603 has better flight times than 75mm 0703 or 65mm brushed
Really like this quad. What dou you mean with not give this one away? Did you give away otger quad?
I have given away many many quads. 14+ on the channel in the last six months, and more locally.
Nick Burns can you send one of your indoor flyers to Indonesia? :D
In the last give away I sent one to a winner in India, I would think we could reach Indonesia too.
LOL. maybe shipping cost more than quad price.
What Receiver You use in this build???
Its likely this www.banggood.com/Only-0_8g-2_4G-Compatible-DSM2-DSMX-Receiver-for-JR-SPECTRUM-Transmitter-p-1145873.html?rmmds=myorder
Awesome video! If you ever wanna try a rotorious frame I do builds as well ;)
Thanks. I will get caught up and look at what we can do.
Yeah, Jack (rotorious) has been busting his ass too, v2 of nearly every brush less frame.
Hi. Do you fly in acro mode or in horizon mode inside the house?
acro. I struggle in angle or horizon
Nick Burns I struggle in acro. Still can't get used to it.
How much is it?
links to frames and their parts are always in the video description.
That moment when u relize what u started
how does it fly outdoors?
I will do a video with outdoor flight.
Nick Burns excellent 👍
Can u get this )pre made)bnf..?
Yes, looks like ETA is end of August and DSMX only, $179. Its on the rakonheli.com site.
Nick Burns sweet thanx!
Nick Burns pre ordered!
Are you still building these?
Adambombfpv has a build service. Look him up on facebook adambombfpv_build_services also note today's video, new 2s version.
Nick Burns thank u. I saw his comment. But i dont use facebook
do you still fly this one?
yes, this or the hoverbot nearly each night before bed.
Nick Burns thanks for replying...it's whoop season for me and I just got this frame and wanted to be able to fly inside. whoop is the only option when you have kids..lol I've gotten the beta 75 now I NEED a brushless...with the help of Adam bomb and you I've think I've made the right choice on this frame and I'm thinking the 1103 frame as well ...thank you for your info your channel helps me save money on my quad addiction...much love from me and mine to you and yours keep up the GREAT WORK .
Man! Your price is out of the market, revise it!
I don't work for any manufacturer. Maybe this comment wasn't meant for me?
I mean the final built price from you. 205$ for 1s brushless. Happymodel snapper6 cost about 85$ and its a great brushless whoop with the fastest motors (19000 KV)
RISPONDI
Its the price of the build. Manny commenters have asked I include the build price. I don't sell them.
