Thanks @NickBurnsFPV for the constant tks tks tks..genuinely. It sunk in and i bought some Starlord frames and have actually converted 2x hdzero mob6 eco's (with 1103's from hm). They're about 39.2g, so save 6-7g on the original mob6 hdz... Absolutely rip. Appreciate you covering the more easier to fly without scaring people/being hassled zone in FPV.
Fantastic flying and review, Nick! 😃 Yeah, the frame seems a bit weak, but it looks like a heck of a fun little quad! Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
That thing has some serious air time even when crashing! But that sound of crashing into the fence was gold! Gotta say, totally missed the missing arm..
It's often surprising how long it seems to take a quad to hit the ground after loss of control. Whereas when Im in control it seems like I run out of time extra quick!
No dice....heights are not my friend. I did take another hd quad up and take a look, but didn't spot it. The gutters have leaf covers, but it may have gotten stuck in that too.
Micros are awesome. There aren't many spots where I could even fly a 5 inch, 3 inch is the sweet spot for flying all spots. 2 inch drones are perfect for parks and if you have a small yard.
So mine literally just arrived, and ya, tattu 450mah 75c fits perfect, but my 550mah 95c tattu r lines don't. I'll have to try and find a 3d print. I want to gly my 550's. Very excited though, great review as always 👏
I actually like my micro quads alot. I dont think there is environment around me fitting enough for 5” fun. I dont think this one is it, but its on the right track
Just a touch of a scratch on the tv frame. Not bad. And no one in the family has noticed. Another reason I bought an inexpensive tv instead of a tv designed for outdoor use 😁
Seem like an odd design decision for them to have those metal side frames but then not use them to protect the camera. Why would they have the lens sticking out like that? This thing certainly looks cool, but I'm not sure why someone would pick it over one of the 2" 2S toothpick style quads like the Happymodel Bassline or the Flywoo 2S Nano Baby 20.
Bassline is a lot of fun, and so is the Baby 20. The Baby 20 is a little under powered though, so 1030's seem like a good upgrade. The Bassline isn't the cleanest build either. I'm a lot more impressed with how tidy the Flywoo is. So the Lighting does seem to be a nice build with a little more power. Seems like they should have gone top mounted though and with better camera protection. I'd check out Avion too. I just bought their 3.5, and it's such a clean build. Flies amazing as well. It's now my favorite quad.
@@Greg__K Yeah, I have a Nano Baby 20 (the Walksnail version). I heard a number of people call it a bit underpowered but this was my first quad and I figured a little less power wouldn't be a bad thing for a beginner, and if it did end up bugging me later I could always swap out the motors and props. I've certainly got no complaints, especially about the construction. I've crashed it into a soccer goal hard enough to dent a motor bell, but other than the written off motor and prop damage it was perfectly fine. There's barely a scratch on the frame. I'm currently having a lot of fun with a Caddx GoFilm 20, which is not as nimble of course, but seems to be another very nicely put together quad. Easy to work on, too. At some point I'd like to build my own sub-250 g 3.5" freestyle quad, thinking AOS for the frame.
@@anthony_horton I have the same Nano 20 then, the WS version. I say it's under powered mostly because it shutters, prop wash, when doing aggressive maneuvers, otherwise it's pretty fast. The Bassline solves that with 1103 motors, but goes through batteries a bit quicker. I think either a 3" or 3.5" open prop freestyle quad would definitely be the next step for you. Nick Burns has reviewed a few of the Avant quads, now AvionRC, and would highly recommend one of their quads. I just got the Nexa 3.5" WS version, and it's the most locked in quad I've ever flown. It's on rails! The build quality is super clean and well thought out as well.
Great review, 👍 this is within my favourite size quad between 2 to 3 Inch, and I had to build my own HD Walksnail quads to have what I want, so it great to see this BNF. About 2mm bottom plate, sometimes it better the break bottom than bend a motor, as long as they sell spares. The lack of camera protection is unforgiveable and why the below average tune?
I just got my Lightning 2 ELRS with Walksnail. I accidentally wiped the config. Would you consider providing me the CLI to reload it in Betaflight? I would greatly appreciate it. I have searched the web all over and cannot fine it anywhere. - Thanks, Steve
@@NickBurnsFPV yes, I found out the version through the lua script... but I don't know what betafpv target in the elrs configurator to choose. Lua script says BFPV Lite 2GRX but there isn't anything simliar to it.
Ah! Nope I did not realize :) I’m running 1002s at 14’000 on 2s. Still holding :) Regarding the time to fall, does it have crash recovery? That could flatten it a bit… but it would spin like crazy I guess.
Good Stuff! Much appreaciate your take and info as always. That seems a new(to me) display feature across the bottom, Signal, Delay, Bitrate and Distance. I'm curious about it, can you point to info please? 😀
Totaly didnt notice untill you were about to mention the damage. I wouldn’t expect many micros to survive that smack without something breaking. And hey, it’s not another cinewhoop lol. Did the arm and motor end up in the gutters perhaps? Neat little quad, needed an unmovable object and plaid speeds to break but I can see how a little more thickness to the frame would help. Thanks for the review!
Initially I thought the fence hit was the end of the camera then the chimney I was holding my breath to no avail. The arm could certainly be on the roof or gutter, I took another hd quad up for a look but didn't locate, but I don't have any with a camera on a gimbal so they were just fly by looks for the most part.
To be real with you Nick in the thumbnail I actually didn't notice the missing arm boy am I going blind🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Sorry to see you crash that quad Nick my guess this quad isn't to stand up to your"Nicky B"freestyle routine👍😎👍😁👍 Awesome job on the review and flight Nick.
Hey Nick, Great video and review of the YMZFPV Lightning, I have seen one other review of the Lightning, and I can't wait to get one, I just don't want yours. LOL ! yeah, you got some air with that crash. Now, do I want to go with a BNF or build and tweak it up a little ? Thanks again for the video and review of the Lightning.
I live in the Netherlands and a short while ago i saw something that looked and sounded like a fast spinning motor at a piece of carbon fiber flying over my house 🤔
300 bucks though? When a Meteor 85 is 225 to your door from most US sites? I had half a mind to expect it to cost like 210 or something to be competitive.
@@NickBurnsFPV What your general opinion regarding Walksnail system? My daily driver is HDZero but from the very begging I thought to buy VRX from them but I still don't know if its worth it (for freestyle and cinematic cursing)
@@w1llyFPV I think of it as a middle ground between hdzero and dji. Image quality isn't as good as DJI but better than hdzero. vtx are less expensive than dji about the same as hdzero. Hdzero and walksnail are invested in fpv vs dji has their own secret plans and seem to use fpv as testing grounds. DJI compatibility is also something that worries me in the long term. Hdzero and walksnail flexibility allows for use in whoops on up to the bigger quads, DJI is really at a minimum 2s, with the risk of potentially stripping away to go naked to drop the weight.
I'm so sick of the old fashioned battery cages! So limiting. My batteries never seem to fit and I refuse to buy more because I have so many. I don't think I'll ever buy another quad with only a battery cage. 😢👎 A little surprised you damaged the camera so much when it had an aluminum front end! That seems to give no protection at all.
Haven’t seen a tri-copter review in a long time!

I actually clicked to ask why..
The bait worked perfectly well, with that thumbnail!
Chapeau!!!
I don't understand the "why"?
If ya ain't crashin, ya ain't flyin!
Great review
Don’t tall mom you clipped the tv 😂. Nailed it! I’m talking about the chimney dives but you did nail it. Great flying, Great review
nailed a few things in a few ways :)
I still don’t understand why they would design a custom aluminum top and then have the lens stick out like that.
Thx Cap!
I missed the arm. Always appreciate your videos.
Good review Nick
Thank you

My tinyhawk II freestyle shrugs off crashes like a champ! Also, I can't freestyle for crap, so I cruise and dive a bit. :)
Bet you'll find those missing pieces on the roof lol / great reviews mate, keep it up!
I reckon the arm is either in the gutter around the chimney or in the V space in-between the chimney and the roof, time to get the ladder out Nick🤔😉

Nick, My guess is the arm and motor have landed in the property behind yours or to the right. Thank you as always. -p
if you cut right down center of the battery holder it will hold any size battery
Not very effectively as the structure would be compromised
